I know this hotel is closing for renovations soon, but it seems like most of the housekeeping staff has let the building? Our room never got fully cleaned during the six days (!) we were there, even though we asked the front desk, twice, to make sure it happened. There were piles of dirty towels in the hallways, and one lonely french fry sat in the hallway on the way to the elevator for days. DAYS. For what is supposed to be one of the nicest places in the state, yuck. Our room started to get pretty gross after several days of trash being left in there. The engineer who was sent to our room to fix a broken AC was totally pleasant and helpful. The front desk staff was nice – but seemed careless when it came to our housekeeping issues.
Room was small. Bathroom small, mold growing on ceiling.
Great place to stay for business with free Wifi. Valet parking was great, and so was the room service.
From beginning to end it was a pleasant experience from the nice staff to the comfortable room, I only wish they had a mini-fridge in the room.
The staff is very friendly. The hotel was convenient to downtown. It has a beautiful, updated decor.
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It was so clean and nice. The hotel staff were wonderful and were able to shuttle us to a dining location so we didn't have to drive. The ice machine didn't work on our floor, but the staff created an obituary for the ice machine and it was so funny and clever we didn't mind going to another floor to get ice.
good location for the night life.. they didn't even have free coffee in the morning..
I was there for business but would go back there on my own dime for personal time in a NY minute. Great rooms, superb location, and a friendly staff. What more can yoiu ask for?
Disappointed with the "little things." Stayed 3 nights. Only cleaning I noticed was that someone made the bed. Room not straigtened up like most hotels: empty styrofoam coffee cup was left after cleaning, along with used stir stick. Creamer from the coffee set not replaced. After I ordered in-room breakfast the first morning using the door-hanging order form, no one ever left a new form so I never ordered breakfast "in" again. That is lost revenue. I killed a spider one night on the desk - was still there when I checked out.
Our son moved to Des Moines a year ago. This was our first trip to visit him. This hotel was recommended for its location and ambience. The location was perfect. We were able to walk many places and enjoy the sites of Des Moines. (the capital, the river, the east village and many local restaurants)
We stayed at the Savery so we could have a fun night out on Court Avenue and walk back to a hotel instead of drive. It was the perfect quiet, classy location just two blocks off the loud crazy antics of Court!
This was without a doubt an excellent hotel. The staff was outstanding. The hotel is quite stately and in great shape. We would definitely stay again!
Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff! The free shuttle to the airport is very helpful. Restaurant is great and reasonably priced. They serve Starbucks coffee so always good coffee. Centrally located and right on the Skywalk. Couldn't have picked a better place to stay.
Great location to downtown, parking garage is close and the staff was amazing! I'm from Des Moines and had a few rooms for a Bachelorette Party. We had a wonderful experience - I would highly recommend!
Perfect for an overnight in Design Moines. Couldn't believe the location, central to everything! Staff was extremely hospitable and was there for everything we needed!
The lobby is under construction. The picture is very misleading. It is actually drab, cold, and bare. I almost didn't recognize the front desk. Breakfast was also disappointing - hoping for salmon, got cold scrambled eggs. The room was spacious and wonderful. We got a free upgrade. Service was wonderful. Sky walk to restaurants was perfect
Our room was quiet, comfortable.Hotel soap and shampoo was of very good quality. Elevator was fast and solid. The building was old in a historical sense.Wonderful art deco touches in the buildings design. The staff was so courteous and professional. They were very helpful answering all our questions. The hotel was conveniently located for our needs.
We have stayed there several times and were given much larger rooms.
Great location, within walking distance of dozens of fine restaurants, theater, museums, etc.
Rooms were very update, and I cant say enough about how clean the rooms were.
