Everything wonderful
Very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet and dinner menu over priced for the quality Shuttle service needs to run later than 8p especially since it doesn’t get dark until later and guests may stay in the park late. .
The rooms were clean and comfortable. But we likely would not stay here again. We did not have a car and the shuttle only leaves once on the hour. It should be at least every 30 minutes, especially during peak times in the morning and evening. And a shuttle should run back to the hotel after 10 pm... we didn't have time to finish our Denali bus tour, wait for dinner in town, and then make the 10 pm shuttle. That is too early for lots of people. And the dining options are terrible at the Grande. $45 for a simple meal that doesn't include dessert?! $25 for breakfast?! And the Peak Espresso was a serious disappointment. It's basically just grab and go at sky-high prices. The hotel is taking advantage of the fact that people don't have a car to drive to other options. And the service at the counter of Peak Espesso was pretty bad. If someone orders coffee, the whole line must wait for a long time while they stress about making the shuttle. There should be two workers. I know there was a lack of employees but there were two people working the front desk that should have helped out... they were just talking to each other. Plus the Prak Espresso worker mumbled and was short-tempered. Overall, not a grrat experience here.
The view here was lovely, but service was poor. Dinner service only. Had some poor quality grab and go items available during limited times only. No cleaning of rooms during our stay--only between gueat reservations. We took a train here and our options were very limited without private transportation. Limits on Bus services prevented us from taking better advantage of surrounding area.
The Mountain view from up top is breathtaking. The rooms are larger and cleaner. The beds are comfortable.
It's very nice but if you don't get a room facing down the mountain, all you have view of is parking lot, so that kind of stinks but oh well-we still enjoyed our quick stay and did not spend much time in room anyway!
Old, musty smelling. No real amenities only plus, it is close to Denali. I would exhaust all other options before staying there again. Last comment: overpriced.
wish bar and restaurant were open more hours
The Grande Denali Lodge features a spectacular lodge perched atop a bluff overlooking the Nenana River canyon. It houses the lobby, restaurant and bar. Lodging is provided in separate outbuildings: a 4-story, 141-room hotel unit (indoor corridors); a 2-story, 19-room motel-like unit (outside corridors), and 6 cabins. We stayed 2 nights in the “Denali Building” hotel structure. Our room was adequate, resembling that of a lower-cost motel in the “lower 48.” The bathroom had a fiberglass tub unit and sheet vinyl flooring. To view and operate the baseboard heater control required lying on the floor between the bed and wall. We hung the “Service Please” tag on our door after breakfast when we departed for a day of sightseeing. When we returned in the evening the tag had been restored to the inside of our door but the room had not been touched! Our verdict: great location, but overpriced.
Charged $423 and gave a parking lot view. Upon asking they said we don't have anything else available. Why would you deceiving pics in website.
Room smelled like sewage when we opened the windows...no wake up call when requested and no staff to check us out. When we approached a staff member she stated her area was not open and that she didn't know who was at the front desk then went on making her on personal coffee leaving is standing there for five minutes! We had to go to the restraunt to get help...for just shy of $500 a night this is a double thumbs down..

Dear Kenzee, I am so sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. I do apologize that the shuttle was on a limited basis this year and that was due to having minimal staff. However, we do hope that we can resume to normal shuttle hours next year! For guests staying past 10pm, they are able to call the front desk and our security will come to pick you up. Thank you for complimenting on our clean and comfortable rooms. Thanks again for staying with us.

Hi Anonymous, Thanks so much for taking the time to rate the Grande Denali Lodge and for staying with us. For the safety of our guests and staff, we did not offer housekeeping stayover service due to Covid. I do hope you enjoyed the complimentary hotel shuttle service that stops at Downtown Denali, the Denali Visitor Center, Horseshoe Lake trail, and the Denali Bus Depot. Thanks for sharing your comments with us!
