Stayed three nights here recently and this hotel absolutely hits the mark on every level! The location might be unparalled in terms of hotel properties in California, the service is above and beyond, and the rooms are luxurious. Like any other destination resort, everything is way over-priced in terms of food and drink, but you have to expect that going in and remember that settings and views like this aren't cheap. I did not have have one negative thought/complaint/criticism while I was here. Highly recommended.
Had a great 3 day visit to Dana Point and stayed at the Monarch Beach Resort. The resort is beautiful and has a great location with an amazing view. The place was short staffed, but the team seemed to work hard. We weren’t able to check in early and we actually had to wait 30 minutes past the official check in time. Parking is overpriced and so is most of the drinks/food at the resort. Overall it was a fun staycation. I am only writing the review to support some great employees who help with our stay. Logan the Bellman – he was energetic and full of information. Lobby Bartenders – All of crew treated us like family. James at Concierge – Really took the time to make sure we had things set up. Travis the Car Manager – Great guy who expedited our transportation needs.
The resort itself is incredible - beautiful vistas, excellent amenities, and stellar service. I have to add that the crew at the golf shop is amazing! Seth was one of the best instructors my wife and I have learned with to date, and Frank went above and beyond when we absentmindedly left a bag behind in our cart. Thanks to all for a wonderful stay!
This was our second time at the Monarch. Super impressed. We spent most of our time at the beach club where our kids took surfing lessons. I tried the "spin class with a view" with Tricia and she was excellent. Such a great experience. Thanks to all.
Just a very pleasant experience at the Monarch Beach Resort. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Such a beautiful resort and is wonderful for families. Also found resort and rooms to be very clean.
When we booked our stay months ago, I got sucked in to stay here via a “get your third night for free” deal. So we opted for an odd day stay from Sunday - Wednesday to save some money! Sounds great right? WRONG! According to our original booking it was $379.99/night, and we paid months ago for $700 something for what we thought was the price of the room, later to be slapped with a rate of $589/night and one “free night.” Below is our interaction with customer service: ‘’I received word back from our reservations manager, and she explained that the rates were indeed correct at $589.00 for 10/06/19, $549.00 for 10/07/19, and 10/08/19 was a free night. The rate that you see on your confirmation for $379.33, is not “actually” the rate, but the “average” rate that is calculated and shown to you, indicating the savings from that 3rd night free, combined for the whole stay.” We are very disappointed at the misunderstanding that occurred and are still fighting to settle our bill. Based on this experience I would not recommend staying here! Sincerely, Disappointed
My husband and I had a very nice vacation here. We came later in the season, which was good because the beach was less crowded. The service was very attentive and the access to the beach was ideal. We had a wonderful view and really enjoyed our breakfasts at Aveo. We had a very peaceful and enjoyable experience.
This is a very nice resort with access to lots of fun areas in Dana Point and Laguna Beach. There are bike paths close by and a beach club that guests can use. We had lunch at the beach club and the food was good. The shuttle ride down was an E-ticket. The resort provides bikes for guests who want to ride the paths.
My friend wanted to stay here. Common areas are nice and clean. The gym is large but it overlooks the parking entrance, so no view. Tried to schedule a private zen meditation for my friends but the spa never confirmed even though they said they would confirm within 48 hours. 1.5 weeks later, plus a voice message and email....NO response. The room was spacious and clean. A phone in the water closet I think is 30 years dated, and the voyeur shutters between the bathroom and bedroom is at least 15 years dated. On one of the nights I asked the front desk to put a rollaway bed in the room. They said sure. About 15 minutes later the front desk called me to confirm access to my room since I had the do not disturb light on. I said ok. When I got back to the hotel some 6 hours later, the bed was not in the room. When I called the front desk they said they can’t put a rollaway bed in a room that has two queen beds “for safety reasons.” Thanks for letting me know. Lastly, the hotel provides car service within Dana Point but when we called for the car to pick us up, they came 45 minutes late after I had to call again after waiting 30 minutes. They said they got busy and I assume, forgot.
I stayed at the resort for two nights for business. I had set the bar high for service, given the hotel's good reputation, but the front end service went above my expectations. I also had a billing issue come up, and the General Manager was responsive and professional in taking care of it. I would recommend the hotel unreservedly.
