Palacio del Inka, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Cusco

We stayed at the Palacio del Inka for three nights, after visiting the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. The rooms were a bit small but well laid out. The bathrooms are modern and functioned well. Although the architecture is not as spectacular as the sister property at Tambo del Inka in Urubamba, this is because of the historical architecture of the property. What really sets this hotel apart is the quality of the service. We were extremely impressed with the staff at the Palacio del Inka -- at the front desk, the concierge, and the restaurant. The concierge staff, in particular, assisted us in addressing a number of problems that arose during our stay. My husband sprained his ankle on our second day in Cusco. The concierge staff went to the local pharmacy to purchase tape to wrap my husband's ankle and immediately recommended a doctor who came to our hotel room to examine my husband. When the doctor advised against traveling to Puno, the concierge staff contacted the hotel in Puno to arrange for cancellation on our behalf. The concierge staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and satisfactory as possible.

We are a family of 5 (myself and my husband, 2 fourteen year olds and a 10 year old) and we are just now about finish up our 2.5 week vacation in Ecuador and Peru. When planning our trips we always look to AMEX's "Fine Hotels and Resorts" program and found the Palacio del Inka for Cusco. We had also just stayed at SPG's Tambo del Inca for 2 nights in the Sacred Valley before going to Machu Picchu which we also HIGHLY recommend. AMEX Program 1. 12 noon check-in when available (it was not but we ate lunch and then it was ready) 2. $100 towards the spa 3. Free upgrade when available (we got one room upgraded to a suite and it connected to a king size room) 4. Free breakfasts each morning Property/Location 1. Property is like a museum -- and it is part of the Incan palace -- original masonry! It also has the Spanish influence. It's really beautiful. 2. The rooms are very nice with local decor/flair (both Incan and Spanish). However, you have all the modern items - including a flat screen TV. 3. The bathrooms are nice as well - hair dryer, luxury shampoos/soaps, etc. 4. The property is extremely clean. Service 1. Excellent - this seems to be the norm in South America. Rivals any Four Seasons in the United States. 2. The concierge will give you a map and highlight where to walk, etc. 3. All staff speak English and are happy to use it. Food 1. Do not come to Peru to lose weight - even with all the hiking! The food is wonderful and the hotel food is as well. 2. The breakfast buffet is perfect and you can also order french toast, omelets, etc. to go with all of the other wonderful offerings. So much fresh food. Delicious pastries and coffees (smoothies, too!) Spa 1. The spa is wonderful (almost as good as the one at Tambo del Inca). 2. They have nice water therapy and then you can get your treatments. Compared to resorts in the US - the prices here are quite good. Enjoy this Palace -- the bar is a nice place to eat dessert or dinner if you don't want to use the restaurant. There was a DJ there, too. We even felt an earthquake today -- thank goodness the Incas REALLY knew what they were doing with architecture. Gracias a todos en el Palacio del Inca. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights prior to hiking the Inca Trail and then for 2 nights when we were done. It is such a beautiful hotel. It has a distinctly Inca style and you have no doubt that you are staying in the middle of the Andes. The rooms are so clean and modern. The restaurant is amazing. It is centrally located in the historic center of Cusco. We really love this hotel.

Our room had a great view of Cusco and Ausangate. The hotel was palacious and well situated for walking around the historical center of the city. Lots of great attractions, including the Plasa De Armas within a 10 minute walk. Spectacular breakfast brunch and an attentive, friendly first class staff. We hope to come back. Bob & Pina Miller

If you want a true feeling of what Cusco culture is about, without losing comfort and awesome amenities this is the place to stay. Our room was beautiful and services was incredible. Location of the Hotel was perfect and breakfast could have not been better.

We could not believe the quality of this hotel. The staff was wonderful, the selection of food in the breakfast buffet was amazing (including the staff in the dining area) and the location was perfect. We were able to walk to the city square and had a wonderful stay!

This is a really luxury hotel with a very good location. Everything, bar, restaurants, museums... are in walking distance. Breakfast was amazing, staff is friendly. We had one problem during our stay. Our first room was a little bit old with time-honored furnitures. The heating system was wrong and it was very cold (17 C). On the second day after our complaint we got a nicer, bigger room, where the heating system was also really old and a lot of dust was on the bed because of it. After our Macchu Picchu tour we got a renovated room, where the heating system was switched off and did not work. This room was really new, with modern furniture, it was much more beautiful, than our last one, but it was cold. So we have a mixed feeling about this hotel. The staff was very helpful and they tried to solve our problem, but I can not understand, why is it normal in a five star hotel, that tthe room temperature is around 17 degrees.

Outstanding resort that's walking distance to the main square but quiet for relaxation. All the staff from the front desk, concierge, restaurant...was attentive and friendly. Our rooms were big and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet is a bit pricey but definitely offer great quality and selections. Recommend Palacio to anyone who are not spending most time outside and looking for some pampering.

It seems a little weird not giving this luxury hotel a 5 star rating but overall I just didn't think the cost was worth it. The rooms are incredibly luxurious and include heat, which is a big deal if you don't handle the cold nights well. The staff are also very friendly and provide excellent service. But at the end of the day I think you can use your money more effectively and find other nice hotels for less that provide similar amenities. Of course if you want the luxury then this place delivers on expectations. It just depends on what you're looking for.

This is a beautiful hotel with an abundance of wonderful artwork. The service is superb with all staff being extremely helpful. Our room was extremely comfortable and breakfast delicious. Given the superb location, one cannot ask for more.
