Stayed in mid-September for 7 nights. I had read the bad reviews before I booked but there were also some good reviews so I took a chance on it. We arrived at 12 noon and told we couldn't check in until 4 p.m. We changed in the toilets and put our cases in locker (€2 charge) and headed off to get something to eat. Returned after 4 and our apartment was ready. Very basic apartment, but that's ok with us, as we wouldn't be spending long periods of time in it. There were twin beds with locker in between. Had to move the beds as couldn't open the wardrobe. Kitchen was sufficient with kettle, toaster and 2 ring hob - plenty of cutlery. It was a surprise that there was no draining board/drainer, as when you are self-catering you will be washing plates, cups etc. We had to leave them draining on the counter itself which wasn't ideal. Lovely big balcony overlooking pool. Shower very good but no shelf in bathroom to put our toiletries on so had to put them on the floor. It wouldn't cost much to put shelf under the mirror. We ventured down to the pool around midday the following day as the sun doesn't really shine there until that time and even at that you are chasing the sun around all day. Not the fault of the owners as there are high rise buildings around, and also large trees from the adjoining apartments. 1 thing I have to complain about at the pool is the loungers - they are those old plastic ones that are not adjustable so you can only lie flat on them - like lying on rocks - if you didn't have a sore back going on holiday you would definitely have 1 going home. Surely the loungers could be adjustable as a lot of people don't like lying flat on their back (especially older visitors). Needless to say we didn't venture down to the pool again. There was 1 toilet roll in bathroom when we arrived and we ended up buying toilet roll at the end of the 2nd day. Surely not much to ask for few toilet rolls to be put in apartments every few days. Towels were changed once during our 7 days - sheets weren't changed at all. I had brought a travel iron with me and asked on reception if I could borrow an ironing board for a little while as there was nowhere suitable in the apartment to iron anything. The woman at reception kinda laughed at me and said no!! The location of these apartments is ideal as only few minutes walk from the beach and the centre of Salou. I know these are budget apartments but I won't be staying here again as I'm sure there are other apartments in Salou just as cheap but with better facilities and service.
Booked on a spur of the moment (flew out the day after booking ) shocked &Scared when i read the reviews at the airport:-) First on arriving at 2pm & Thinking we'd arrived at the bronx(Quite unpleasant area (redidential flats all around. we were told check in was 5pm unless empty earlier .the receptionist did seem a little cold but also cracked a smile. We paid €2for a large locker got changed and went for meal etc (The main strip of salou (3 mins walk) Came back at 4pm and given keys . By then the receptionist was happier than earlier she explained the t& c of apartment.(which i read about)the €100 for damages and city tax €1 pp per night . which all hotels are doing now in europe(we did this in may in mejorca ( so no surprise there.) Arriving in our room 509 corner apartment massive balcony (all along 2 sides so really good sun all day on both sides.the view was the pool area of opposite hotel which was good because you sort of looked over that from a distance which is better for me because looking straight down from floor 5 makes me feel faint. (AND the hotel pool at med suite leaves you little desire to view it all day(small and nothing going on ..so all in all we had the best side although not overlooking our pool it was the best and also listened to other hotels music and entertainment and also watched 2 rides operating from portaventura (less than 2 miles away) The tv worked but No eng .so that didnt go on all week no prob i wasnt there to watch tv just like the news once a day but just watched on phone instead ..Free wifi in room and nr the pool too. IF i wanted to picky i could be about (nothing to fancy (like crockery in a cabinet in livjng room rather than kitchen but that certainly wont put me off. 2 rings on cooker 1 toaster 1 kettle .NO microwave but that didnt bother us . A few updates needed like running paint on radiator and cabinet coming apart but really its not worth worrying about. On leaving i cleaned swept & mopped so we def got €100back it was said rooms are checked b4 they give it back but they never checked our room they just handed it back when i handed keys and tv remote in.No entertainment ..although there is a bar (very quiet sometimes only 1 or 2 people in(its easier to just walk 3 mins to shooters sports bar or 1 of the sev hundred other bars /restaraunts around the corner.Burger king less than 5 min walk and beach is lovely about 6/8 mins (with my bad leg) i Would def go back there and prob again request the same room 509 Which is also at the end of corridor(about 20ft out of the lift ... so no one walks past at night .although we never heard anyone in other rooms anyway. Its far from the ritz but ideal for what we wanted & paid .clean and well enough equipped and staff ok too 2 lifts as well, never stopped working :-) bus stops 3 mins walk away too everything is within 5 min walk perfect location coudn't ask for better .. hope the pics show the minor faults and i mean minor nothing to worry about ..oh the pool is ok not massive but thers a smaller one for kids too .and like a cafe area just normal table & chairs if you dont want to lay on sunbed in the sun (about 25 sunbeds) but always got 2 whatever time of day
My husband & I stayed here for 4 nights, it was really cheap so we didn't expect luxury. We were pleasantly surprised. The apartments are a good size, huge balcony. It was clean and had the basic things you need. It's a bit dated and the bathrooms could do with some TLC but other than that, it was spot on. We ate out 90% of the time so we didn't use the cooker/toaster etc. Kitchen was ample for what we needed. The staff have all been lovely, nothing bad to report there. The bar area is nice, pretty & clean. The food is lovely and reasonably priced. The pool area is small but we didn't book here to stay here all day/night. It's literally less than a minutes walk to the busy streets of Salou. We would stay here again.
Arrived at Med. suites around 11am & was told we couldn't check in untill 5pm! If I had known it was such a late check in I would have got a later flight. Me and my partner were working late the day before, had 1 hours sleep and were up at 2am to travel to Salou, we thought we would be able to have a rest in the afternoon but we couldn't! We were told we could leave our suitcases, but had to put them in a locker where you had to pay! We then had to give a €100 deposit which we were unaware of which is far too much for this dump. When we eventually got into our room, I thought ok it's very basic but we came here for a holiday not to spend it in the apartment. I understand it was a self catering apartment, me and my partner always go self catering but this was the worst we have ever stayed in. There were two single beds (which were very uncomfortable!) with a little table in the middle. The wardrobe didn't open because the bed was in the way and the bedside locker didn't move. So we had to re-arrange the beds to the other side of the room just to get into the wardrobe. After a few days we noticed we didn't have any cleaners in to change our sheets or give us new towels. My partner asked at reception about it and was told you get new towels/sheets every four days! We eventually got new towels but never got new sheets. We stayed for 8 nights and we had to sleep in sweaty sheets! Not once were they changed. Absolutely disgraceful for somewhere so hot. I even had to ask for toilet roll!!! One evening my boyfriend hurt his hand and it was swollen, I went down to reception at around midnight to ask for some ice. I was told "we don't have ice". The bar closes at around 8pm which is a joke for a holiday resort. There is a sign in reception for the costs of damages. I understand it's self catering and I will always clean up after myself but not even a cloth or tea towel was provided to wash up. The boiler was above the sink so it was difficult enough to wash up without having your face pressed against a cupboard. You had to empty your own bins and the bins were located at the bottom of the street, I have never ever had to do this before, I will keep things tidy but come on I'm on holiday! We come to relax and it was nothing but stress here. If your bin wasn't emptied on departure you had to pay €15!! The tv doesn't work, the sound only lasted about 20 seconds and you had to bang the table to get the sound back, then it would be gone again. The light on the balcony didn't work and plug sockets were loose. There is only one mirror in the whole apartment and no where in the bathroom to put your toiletries. The only good thing about this place was the nice powerful shower. My boyfriend has type 1 diabetes, we always made sure we had sugary drinks/chocolate/sweets in the apartment but one night his sugars dropped so low that what we had wasn't enough. I went downstairs to the vending machines, there was chocolate but no fizzy drinks just water. Drinks help get your sugars up quicker than snacks so I explained to the man at reception that I needed a drink with sugar right away, I know the bar is closed but could he please get me something. I was told "No I don't have a key" what kind of place is this that they don't even have a key for the bar?? He really didn't understand the seriousness of this, my boyfriend could have gone into a coma and died! After a few Mars bars from the other vending machine he was able to get his sugar levels back up eventually. The staff were very rude, and on departure they check your apartment. When he came back he handed us our deposit and that was it. No thanks for staying with us, hope you enjoyed your stay or even a goodbye! Just "here's your deposit" I always look at trip adviser for reviews and often we see bad ones and we are really surprised when we get there but this time I really should have stuck by the reviews. This place is an absolute kip and I would advise everyone to not stay here unless you want to dry yourself with dirty towels and sleep on dirty sheets for a whole week. Absolute disgrace of a place I don't know how they are open. Will definitely not be coming back!
These apartments were self catering there were two rings no oven or microwave Poor cleanliness under beds were dirty and so were all floors as you walked feet became black Faulty air conditioning leaking water on floor with black bits coming out of it no towels changed unless you asked had to take own rubbish and clean apartment on leaving to get deposit back poor amenities Would not recommend
Booked this at last moment for three nights as base for visiting theme parks. We booked two bedroom apartment was incredibly cheap had read reviews so were not expecting 5*. Apartments are basic but clean - you get what you pay for. Have read other reviews which seem unfair- a little bit of research would inform you of check in times, pool times and linen changes - if you booked through agent then blame them. I would not book this if I was staying for a holiday but as a base for a few days perfectly ok. Location is good short walk to all amenities. Tip to those people who complained about aircon and lights that only work with room card inserted in slot- doesn't have to be room card any card or piece of paper inserted does the trick then you can leave aircon on when you go out - same trick works in many hotels. Overall stay was fine - yes had we been staying longer and not just used as base then would have been disappointed- but then we would not have booked it in first place!
By far the worst place we have ever stayed !! Don't get me wrong we always have a budget so we don't look for luxury we are not people that lounge around the pool or stay around the hotel , we just look for a place that's safe and clean to stay in but this is in a league of its own, We arrived at 11am and there was a pile of rubbish dumped outside the hotel entrance, we then had to wait till after 5 to check in although we were aware that there wasn't an option for early check in we were told that we would be able to put our luggage in the luggage room but there is no luggage room only a small locker you have to pay to put your luggage in so we had to pay for 2 , the 2 bed apartment itself was not cleaned properly despite the wait , there were holes in all the doors some were covered with tape, the kitchen light shade was very badly damaged and had been sellotaped back together 🙄 the smaller room was infested with ants and had no where to put your clothes and not enough room for the suitcase to be kept out from under the bed, the second room was bigger and had a wardrobe but you had to move the bed to open it. Neither of the bedrooms have air conditioning units, the SMALL bathroom had mould all around the bath a build up of dirt in every corner ,the back of the sink leaked , no vent and the bulbs kept blowing because of the condensation so you could see black burn marks all around one of them the first time they were replaced the maintenance guy used bulbs from the kitchen/living area but they blew again and all the bulbs were replaced .. the self catering kitchen was a joke the fridge radiated heat from behind it so the outside was always warm to touch the shelves inside were damaged but the freezer definitely worked probably a little to well as the ice pops bought the first day could not be removed by the second day they were covered with an inch of ice , the two ring electric cocker didn't work properly and there is no microwave the kettle electrics blew the third day but the did replace it the next morning for us the sink is almost unusable because of the big water heater that is directly over it and sticks out 3 foot and it was pulling away from the wall along with the wall tiles and it's over flow dripped all night. The kitchen floor tiles had lots of cracks in them, the fold out sofa bed was both extremely uncomfortable because of big plank in the middle of it and filthy because it's fabric had greasy stains from years of sweat and sun cream that had built up on it from previous customers The balcony was huge and over looked the pool which is the only good thing can highlight but it had broken tiles on it too and only 3 chairs for six of us, The kitchen/living area had the only air conditioner that worked fine , The pool is smaller than it looks in the brochures and while the kids are allowed to use inflatables their is only really room for about 20 in the two pools without them and that's with no one able to swim in them . The food served is nice and not badly priced but the drinks are a bit more expensive than they should be the bar and kitchen open at 10 and shut at 8pm and you have to go through it to the pool area so you can't use it outside of those times there is no entertainment at all we stayed there for two weeks and the sheets were changed after 8 days when I requested it , you are left towels on Mondays and Thursdays but they were left on the table inside the door and dirty ones were not removed , you have to carry your rubbish out of the hotel and down to the end of the street to the public bins and have to clean the apartment yourself which is checked before they give you your 100 refundable deposit back and to top it all off there's a big list of fines for damage and other clean up fees plastered all over the areas surrounding the lifts . I have many more pictures but could only upload 10 on this site. I love Salou but would strongly advise people against staying in the Mediterranean Suites
I have just returned from this holiday and I am very unhappy with the apartments that we stayed at. We and other guests(some with young children) were left waiting all day in the lobby for our rooms with only lockers available at a fee to store our bags, the staff were extremely unhelpful and unpleasant which added to the already difficult situation. We then had to pay €100 deposit before we got our key and were told that if the room wasn't in a satisfactory condition on departure we would not be getting it back. The 1 bed apartment we had (509) was an adequate size and the balcony was huge but everything else was terrible. We were there 6 nights and the room wasn't cleaned once, no clean bedding was supplied at all during our stay and although 2 towels were left on the couch (4 days in) the dirty towels were left in the bathroom despite being left in the bath ready for collection(as is the way everywhere else I have stayed). We were told that we had to take our rubbish out to the public bins down the end of the road from the apartments and dump it ourselves.(One guest was refused his deposit back until he did so) as they check your room before they give it back to you. The bar area only opens at 10 am and as the only access to the pool area is through it, you have no access to the pool area until then. This also closes at 8 pm and there is no entertainment on offer at all. No toilet roll was supplied and when requested we were told to get some in the shop. The hob in the room didn't work and there was no microwave. Very small pool area and a shortage of beds and a staff team on reception for whom it was obviously an inconvenience to have to deal with you. I booked with Cassidy travel as usual and am very surprised that they are selling holidays to this apartment complex as they are usually very reliable. This time they have it wrong I'm afraid. Don't book this place, you will regret it. Gary C. .
We went self catering , clean & basic,.....pools grand for Kids but small , Grand big balconies to relax on No entertainment ,only back ground music ,Oh a lil 10 question quiz per day funny, because there is an entertainment hub in the lobby of this hotel !!!! bar ran out of Magners on our first day , they never replaced all week , also their fryers broke in the kitchens , only sambo's and wraps available to eat for the week we were there, Drinks were pricey A sml coke was €2.50 , glass of wine €4.50, sure a bottle of wine in the supermarket was €2.50 !!! recommend The Hampton steakhouse for grub (great) and The Lazy Wave , shop and bar's a stones throw away ,Beach about 10 min walk (nice) lots of bars and restaurants to choose from looks fab at night time ! I would recommend you request a pool side apartment , noise from bars would keep you awake , all in all , it done the job for us , clean basic self catering apt , change of towels and sheet I will say needs a bit of up dating , rooms and pool area 6/10
this is definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in ever!!!! six hours to get our room on first day. early arrival but they took the booking and I expected a room to be ready or at least close to ready when we arrived. we had to pay to store our luggage until the room was ready. after three hours bumming around the pool they gave us an approx time and told us they'd phone us if we wanted to go explore. we came back two hours later and room still wasn't ready. more time at pool and only when I went to ask again was I told room had been ready for a while. small rooms, broken tiles, tiny tiny pool, no cleaning service at all over eight days. new sheets on day seven, new towels after four days. had to ask for more toilet roll and empty our own rubbish during the week and at end to get the deposit back. beds are worse than terrible with mattresses less than 3 images thick. air con had one setting and helped in living room kitchen area but in no way was good. one key for three adults so when I wanted to go do something in mornings I had to wake everyone when I came back. the reason for one key was so that you could not leave air con on when you left' room for day. key controls electric in apartment. once removed it turns off everything except the fridge. kitchen was awful. two electric rings, small fridge and a sink that you could only access if less than four foot tall because they installed the water heater directly over it. nothing to wipe counters with. bathroom was tiny too trying to get water not burn your skin off or turn you blue with cold was nearly impossible. one mirror throughout apartment in bathroom, no lock on bathroom door electric sockets were actually loose in walls and looked dangerous. the noise from the other rooms was crystal clear tiles were cracked on floor in apartment and throughout the entire hotel. the room wasn't clean upon arrival and the previous occupants sheets had been rolled up and stuffed into the wardrobe rather than removed. the wardrobe could not be opened unless you moved the bed across the room . two single beds in main room that was like an oven my wife and I had to spend the week sleeping tops and tails on the sofa which was only bearable by sticking the mattress from the under sofa bed on top of it. staff member we spoke to was ignorant beyond belief muttering stuff under his breath in Spanish til I spoke back to him in Spanish with a few obscenities I learned whilst on an exchange thirty years ago. we were one of three other families who were treated similarly on our first day. throughout the week we witnessed three other families complain about the hotel while we passed reception. we spent little or on time there except to sleep, this was difficult too considering the noise level from the adjacent rooms and the area the hotel was located in which was party central for the locals with pubs open til seven and later in the am. cops everywhere to disperse the young drunken locals on a couple of mornings I was up and about for a walk at that time. would not grace this place again if I was paid to stay there. twenty loungers for an estimated two hundred guests. pool could not accommodate more than a half dozen people at a time.. main areas were quite clean, balcony was very large bar looked grand but had no entertainment and was closed most evenings very early. all in all this hotel ruined our family holiday and the lack of respect the staff showed only made it worse. we paid a small fortune for our stay there and it was not worth a single penny of the hard earned money. I call on all Irish, English, Welsh and Scots to never stay here ever. you will regret it I'm absolutely sure of that
