We went self catering , clean & basic,.....pools grand for Kids but small , Grand big balconies to relax on No entertainment ,only back ground music ,Oh a lil 10 question quiz per day funny, because there is an entertainment hub in the lobby of this hotel !!!! bar ran out of Magners on our first day , they never replaced all week , also their fryers broke in the kitchens , only sambo's and wraps available to eat for the week we were there, Drinks were pricey A sml coke was €2.50 , glass of wine €4.50, sure a bottle of wine in the supermarket was €2.50 !!! recommend The Hampton steakhouse for grub (great) and The Lazy Wave , shop and bar's a stones throw away ,Beach about 10 min walk (nice) lots of bars and restaurants to choose from looks fab at night time ! I would recommend you request a pool side apartment , noise from bars would keep you awake , all in all , it done the job for us , clean basic self catering apt , change of towels and sheet I will say needs a bit of up dating , rooms and pool area 6/10
this is definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in ever!!!! six hours to get our room on first day. early arrival but they took the booking and I expected a room to be ready or at least close to ready when we arrived. we had to pay to store our luggage until the room was ready. after three hours bumming around the pool they gave us an approx time and told us they'd phone us if we wanted to go explore. we came back two hours later and room still wasn't ready. more time at pool and only when I went to ask again was I told room had been ready for a while. small rooms, broken tiles, tiny tiny pool, no cleaning service at all over eight days. new sheets on day seven, new towels after four days. had to ask for more toilet roll and empty our own rubbish during the week and at end to get the deposit back. beds are worse than terrible with mattresses less than 3 images thick. air con had one setting and helped in living room kitchen area but in no way was good. one key for three adults so when I wanted to go do something in mornings I had to wake everyone when I came back. the reason for one key was so that you could not leave air con on when you left' room for day. key controls electric in apartment. once removed it turns off everything except the fridge. kitchen was awful. two electric rings, small fridge and a sink that you could only access if less than four foot tall because they installed the water heater directly over it. nothing to wipe counters with. bathroom was tiny too trying to get water not burn your skin off or turn you blue with cold was nearly impossible. one mirror throughout apartment in bathroom, no lock on bathroom door electric sockets were actually loose in walls and looked dangerous. the noise from the other rooms was crystal clear tiles were cracked on floor in apartment and throughout the entire hotel. the room wasn't clean upon arrival and the previous occupants sheets had been rolled up and stuffed into the wardrobe rather than removed. the wardrobe could not be opened unless you moved the bed across the room . two single beds in main room that was like an oven my wife and I had to spend the week sleeping tops and tails on the sofa which was only bearable by sticking the mattress from the under sofa bed on top of it. staff member we spoke to was ignorant beyond belief muttering stuff under his breath in Spanish til I spoke back to him in Spanish with a few obscenities I learned whilst on an exchange thirty years ago. we were one of three other families who were treated similarly on our first day. throughout the week we witnessed three other families complain about the hotel while we passed reception. we spent little or on time there except to sleep, this was difficult too considering the noise level from the adjacent rooms and the area the hotel was located in which was party central for the locals with pubs open til seven and later in the am. cops everywhere to disperse the young drunken locals on a couple of mornings I was up and about for a walk at that time. would not grace this place again if I was paid to stay there. twenty loungers for an estimated two hundred guests. pool could not accommodate more than a half dozen people at a time.. main areas were quite clean, balcony was very large bar looked grand but had no entertainment and was closed most evenings very early. all in all this hotel ruined our family holiday and the lack of respect the staff showed only made it worse. we paid a small fortune for our stay there and it was not worth a single penny of the hard earned money. I call on all Irish, English, Welsh and Scots to never stay here ever. you will regret it I'm absolutely sure of that
Not good at all. Pool so small you could jump over it . Food and staff not very pleasant . Constant entertainment next door also a downer . Huge hotel next door music from every til late 3 am . Need speedy passes also fir the parks money spinning racket
Came back from here yesterday. It's neither great or bad, so I will put pros and cons.... Cons first... It says self catering with an American kitchen. If they can call and cook a few decent things on electric hob rings and and a small fridge with a tiny ice box as an American kitchen then they are mistaken. If you suffer with bad back or any form of chronic illness then the beds and bed settees are no good for you. They say it's in a residential area....what they mean is there are a few blocks of apartments where people live and go about their daily life....but no way is it quiet for that reason. You have surrounding hotels with very loud entertainment all through the day, then around 1am till 6am, the night clubs which are situated right next to where we stayed was so loud. And I mean loud loud. No good if you have young kids trying to sleep....or even if you are an adult and want to sleep. The pool bar drink prices are expensive. For a small coke/Pepsi it's €2.50. For a pint of beer or cider it's between €4 and 5 euros. If you have problems with any vending machines in the foyer then go to the pool bar staff. The hotel staff do not deal with any problems like that. There is a €100 deposit on all rooms. If you look on the wall outside the lifts on all the floors it lets you know how much each breakage of things will cost out of your deposit. Just be careful and make sure you take all your rubbish out to the bins before you leave, and tidy the room and your deposit will be returned no problem. There is also local tax charges. It's a euro per adult for the first 7 days. You don't pay after 7 days and you don't pay for children. Pros.... The balconies are massive. Lovely to sit on and top your tan up. The pool side food is very reasonable considering the drinks are quite expensive, and the food is nice too. It's not a massive menu but it's great for snacks. Pool staff are very friendly and there is a quiz every day and a singer once a week. The pool is a reasonable size and kept very clean. The staff play music from London heart fm and Kiss all day. We enjoyed that so much. Made a change from Spanish music which is usually played in hotels. The shops and bars are literally a stone's throw from where we stayed. So many shops and bars it would be hard to know where to eat. 15 minute walk to The beach where more bars are, on the sea front. It's looks amazing at night and the food looked delicious and the atmosphere was great. All in all its not a bad place. Personally I think it's better for adults as the nightlife is very lively and noisy. I hardly slept with the noise and neither did my 13 year old. I suppose if you were to live there you would get used to it but coming away on holiday from a city you just want a bit of peace and quiet and be in a 10 min walking and hearing distant for noise. Just another couple of notes....if you are landing in Barcelona Airport then it's a 2 hour or more transfer to hotel....( thinking of small kids). Fly to Reus or Girona. Shorter transfers. Also ask for a room pool side. Not saying it will completely cut the noise out at night but it certainly wouldn't be as loud as where we were....the car park side....and take plenty and plenty of euros with you. This was our first time self catering...before we have always gone all inclusive. It will be all inclusive in future. Hope this has helped anyone thinking of going there.
Just back. This place ticked the boxes - went for one week - with four days taken up with park visits and excursions so was not prepared to pay money for services not used. This was a good base near the beach, all the shops, restaurants and portaventura park. Apartment a good size was facing the pool with two double doors onto a huge balcony - one from lounge and one from bedroom - other bedroom was small but had a good size window. Air conditioning in the living room that didn't go off when someone went onto balcony - added bonus. The pool cafe was great - allowed you to change menu to suit. The complaints of this hotel are unfair in some cases - €100 deposit on arrival. I new this so was prepared. buy your own toilet roll - not a problem - empty your rubbish into the massive bins on the road that you need to walk down when leaving the hotel everyday anyway. This is self catering - supplied with mop, bucket, brush and dustpan so cleaned floor for my kids benefit. Bought wipes €1 and cleaned as I went. I new about no maid service. Our balcony door lock was broken on arrival - 10pm. Fixed by 10am the next morning. Somethings aren't perfect but you manage didn't pay for 5 star so didn't expect it. Plenty of towels. London radio heart station played at the pool so good selection of songs - quizzes and live session from an Irish lad and his guitar - super. The TVs are small portables with sky channels but we did not put ours on once so don't know exactly which ones. The fridge was old and not cold enough used the freezer compartment at the top which acted as a better chill but didn't freeze anything - the door catch didn't work well - but didn't bother us as it was only used for drinks and butter. All in all kids loved it - inflatables allowed in the pool added to all the kids enjoyment. My only down point is the beds - aren't the greatest! Bit uncomfortable. Management take note ---if not upgrading mattresses then invest in foam toppers at least - my kids could even feel the springs. All in all a happy family holiday. .
When I book an apartment on holiday the 2 things I seek first are safety and cleanliness, I got these and much more, wonderful welcome, friendly staff and a balcony view to the pool, when travelling with 2 teenagers and a toddler its wonderful to keep an eye on everyone. The rooms were basic but very clean and had everything we needed, received fresh towels midweek while was a lovely bonus
Our apartment was really nice, lovely and clean, huuuge balcony with two doors leading to it. Lots of pots, pans, utensils etc in the kitchen. We we checked in there were 3 incredibly drunk lads (about 5pm) one of them was sick in the lift which we had to use after - not exactly the best welcome. Maybe not the best place for families. At checkout we handed back our keys for the receptionist to check our room, when she came back she said she'd looked everywhere and couldn't find the 3 remote controls for the TV, air con etc. I told her they were definitely next to the TV in plain view as I'd literally just put them there.. she just looked at us and said 'no'. I went back up to the room and lo & behold there they were! I know they probably get a lot of idiots there but we're just a sensible couple in our 30s. Why would we want to steal the remote for a 100 year old tv?! Anyway, I brought them down and she told me I should have brought them down in the first place (if this is the case why don't they tell you this is what you need to do?) we did get our deposit back, but no apology. Maybe the staff could be a little less accusational and/or check the rooms properly in future! (I'm just saying this in case you're not as adamant as me, you might end up paying for something that's not actually missing). All in all it's a nice place for a base, definitely worth a stay if you're on a budget :)
No would not go back apartment not too bad but the cleaning does not happen 2 toilet rolls for a week and towels changed only once, apartment location good, lovely place would defo go back to Salou again wide range of lovely places to eat, weather was fantastic if a little too hot
Stayed at Mediterraneano suites for the first time and would never return. Arrived at 11am in the morning to find we couldn't check in until 5pm. Explained that we had been traveling from early hours of morning and had 2 small children. They didn't care, sent me away and to try again later on. We had to pay to put our cases in lockers as they don't have a luggage room. We finally got in our room at 4.30. Had to pay €100 deposit, there is an extensive list of expensive costs for breakages, if you don't clean your room and take your rubbish out on departure you can be charged up to €130!! Rooms are supposed to be cleaned once a week, this never happened, clean towels 3 times a week, this never happened also! Had to eventually ask on the 5th day to get towels. Air conditioning didn't work, had them up twice they agreed that it wasn't working but didn't do nothing, so never slept for a week with the heat!! Staff are completely rude, if they don't understand you they just ignore you! Bar and pool close at 8pm, the only good thing being the pool area is clean and pool cleaned daily and the food served is very nice and fresh. That is the only good points, I really do not recommend this hotel, I've never been on holiday and been so desperate to get home!!
If your looking for a quiet and relaxed holiday this hotel is perfect. The swimming pools are great, cleaned every morning, small entertainment around the pool each day. Staff are helpfull and friendly and can speak english. Rooms are clean. I would definately go back there. Prices are great too. Not expensive at all.very central to all amenitees. Food served was great too.small children's pool too so great for families with kids.
