Upon arrival around 7pm, we waited for someone to be at the desk for quite a while. When she finally came we were given a choice of floors and rooms. We chose the fourth floor so we’d have better views. We checked in and then went to the beach which was right across the street. When we returned, we wanted to shower because we were covered in sand and ocean water however there was no hot water. My two year old, husband, and I had to go to bed dirty and gritty. So uncomfortable!!! We did bring it to the staff’s attention around 9pm but we were told that there wasn’t maintenance on the property. No apology or offer for another room. We later found out via other visitors that other floors did not have this problem, so we were pretty disappointed that nothing was done to help out. Seeing as we were offered a choice of floors when we checked in, I would think that that implies other rooms open which would have provided for hot water. The next day we asked for additional towels since ours were covered in sand in our attempt to towel off. The front desk attendant wasn’t very polite about it. We discussed again, that the hot water wasn’t working the night before and she said “well it was on by midnight”. How were we to know? Again NO apology or even empathy was shown, just treated like an annoyance for asking for extra towels. The breakfast area was a complete disaster. The hotel was busy, so understandably the breakfast area was pretty full, but no one could sit in some areas due to messes left behind. There was so much food spilled and thrown on the ground by other families. Who was there to keep things flowing and prevent that type of waste/ mess? No one. We only stayed one night and I don’t know if I’d stay again. I just didn’t feel that this was up to IHG standards. The bed was comfortable, but we had a horrible night sleep due to the sand and being dirty from not being able to shower in the ice cold water. The room was clean, however the window was so murky you could barely see the ocean across the road. Overall, mediocre, but the staff sure could up the friendliness and welcoming spirit. The only people that made an effort to be kind to us was housekeeping.
From check in to check out, great service. Every staff member was friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. Easy access, recently refurbished everything was clean and fresh. Breakfast was great, beds were amazing. Accessible to beach just 1 block to the north, easy walk, ramp and stairs. If you don’t mind negotiating a 3 ft concrete walk, you could walk out the front door and walk directly across the street and be in the Gulf in 5min. I would def recommend and stay here again. Good job on staff choice and training.
So close to the beach, just a road away. Very clean and new facility. It was bright and the new layout in the rooms is so much more appropriate for travelers. They offer complementary breakfast and coffee in the morning. Front desk was customer focused. I’d stay here again.
Had a reservation for a king handicapped room but when we got there they said they didn't have one. We got a king balcony room instead. The balcony was really nice; you could open the door and hear the ocean when there wasn't any traffic. You could see the ocean across the parking lot, street, and field. Breakfast was great. The beds were too high and too firm for my liking. Public beach access was across the street and down just a little way. Liked the sitting area in the room. It was a spacious room. The staff were really nice and friendly.
Very pretty inside. Had the best breakfast!!! Hot eggs, sausage, pancakes, toast, bagels, English muffins, muffins, biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, juice, milk and coffee. It is a full breakfast. In you room the shampoo is bath and body works. You also get a kcup with an assortment of tea and coffee in your room. Great ocean view- ask for it. They always have coffee, water and tea in the lobby for you. If you need snacks you can purchase some. The only thing that was bad was no water pressure and the walls are thin. You can hear the people above and beside of you. Would stay again.
We stayed here one night with our kids... the staff is amazing and so are the views from the balcony... right across street from ocean but you can still see the rolling waves from your rooms..property is very well kept.. breakfast is great.. would definitely stay here again..i saw there is a place to rent golf carts right in parking lot.. the beach is awesome..
First, let me say the staff and location are great. Upon check-in, we were told that the automatic “blinds” wouldn’t operate properly and would have to be opened and closed manually. No problem, right? Turns out it was black-out shades (not blinds) that couldn’t be operated manually. Went back down and clerk found one other suite with a waterfront balcony. Loaded up the luggage and moved to other end of the hall - same problem in the bedroom, only this shade wouldn’t open OR close, just 3/4 closed, with parking lot lights shining in. Only other problem was that the deadbolt would not work. But door itself locked, so.... They did give us some extra ihg points for our inconvenience, but they need to get rid of the shades since they break so easily.
Leaving Port Aransas en route to S Padre this was an excellent and easy stop between. Close proximity to Padre National Seashore and Malaquite Beach. Also close to great eats like JB German Bakery (breakfast or lunch) and Rock N Roll sushi. We got up early, grabbed coffee from the free breakfast area downstairs and walked across the street to watch the sunrise over the beach.
Stayed with my family for vacation. Worth the trip hotel was very up to date, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Beach is within walking distance or you can drive to a parking lot and walk down or pay the $12 for a city parking pass and drive on the beach. There are vendors that rent canopies, lawn chairs, boogie boards on the beach.. they only take cash. Back to the hotel all bedding was clean along with the towels. The entire facility was well kept.
I should have gone with my gut given the mixed reviews on this hotel, but it was so close to where we needed to be. That said everything about this hotel was a disappointment. When I attempted to check in around 7 PM I found a note that said the clerk had stepped out for a minute. More than 15 mins later (with my family sitting in a running car) someone finally showed up. After getting to our room it was apparent that any remodeling (due to hurricane damage?) was done in a very shoddy manner. All the tile was loose with almost no grout left between each. The carpet was filthy (as evidenced by my feet each morning), and there was exposed plumbing in the overly dirty bathroom. The grounds weren’t much better as the pool was dirty (though I still saw folks swimming) and the sign regarding diarrhea and swimming was concerning and has me asking questions regarding prior events. The hot-tub was also disgusting and milky, though was in-service. I will say the staff (after the check-in) was pretty decent, but in no way does it make up for the appalling condition of the hotel overall.
