We stayed this for the weekend and had a good experience. The hotel is a nice 4 star or, in our opinion, a 3.5 stars. It seems a bit neglected in some aspects like lights not working, toilets broken, etc. But the staff was always very helpful and nice so all problems were solved promptly. Location is good if you're planning to go to Kinsale.

Clean hotel, in need of some updates. Breakfast disappointing. Pool area was ok. Grounds around the hotel are nice and the view is lovely from dining area and some rooms. Would return if staying in the area but not the bext place I've stayed.

Hotel was lovely. The roads up to it are quite small and narrow but the hotel grounds are fantastic. Lovely views, lovely food, great staff. Will definitely be staying again. Looking forward to the next time my company sends me to Kinsale

I recently stayed here with family for a short stay and everything ticked the boxes. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable while the views from our window were also amazing. The staff and food was nice too, the fish and chips was huge. The spa also tickets all the boxes, would recommend for a couples stay. The breakfast was great also, full Irish really set us up for the day.

My Husband and I booked a two night stay in Macdonalds Hotel recently. We had stayed here about six years ago at a wedding and we could not believe how shabby the hotel had become. The rooms were dated and worn looking. It was not the cleaners fault. The bathroom was clean . We had the breakfast each morning which we couldn't fault. We went into Kinsale for dinner each day. It was costly getting taxis in and out and an extra expense on to the cost of our stay. It is a beautiful setting if you get the river view which we did not unfortunately. The staff seemed to be very inexperienced mainly in the bar. The first evening we were standing for about ten minutes and no one behind the bar. A young girl appeared and asked us if we were okay and we ordered our drinks.Overall we were disappointed .There was no atmosphere there and no entertainment at night. We enjoyed the pool and the staff were friendly there.

So happy when we got the first glimpse of the hotel and our rooms. Having checked the menus online too we were so excited to eat here too. The first night, Thursday we ate at the bar and it was flawless, both service and food, the main server, the Senior bar Man (we’re guessing) on that night, chatted with us, sorted our orders and made sure we all had a wonderful visit...ensuring all 6 of us, 3 adults and 3 kids would return on the second night of our once a year family get together...HOWEVER, we did discover that the menu wasn’t the same as online and was the same menu in bar & restaurant, our second night, tonight, was entirely different! Our first server (Kelly) was friendly, lovely, albeit inexperienced, had a smile for us & some conversation too. When the other bar staff showed up (didn’t get her name) we found her quite unfriendly with no conversation and ‘a face’ on her for our entire meal and the food was no way as nice as our first visit. Everyone had fries and they were all dry (the night before were fab and we looked forward to this evening) kids burgers were nice, my steak was good, drinks had to be asked for more than once before we got them and tbh we didn’t feel like we could say anything due to the one bar staff who just came across as rude...made our meal uncomfortable and I’m upset that we were going to go into Kinsale for dinner but after the previous night thought we could go to the bar again instead! Lesson learned I think...mix it up and try new things in future. The hotel itself is beautiful, pool and facilities are great and I would recommend McDonalds Kinsale as somewhere to go but prob say go into town to eat 👍🏼

Modern hotel, hidden in the depths of the countryside yet only 5 minute drive from the lively and beautiful town of Kinsale. Reception area is large, clean and fresh. Friendly check-in and check-out staff. Easy access to bedrooms through large lifts/elevator in reception area. Bright, spacious bedrooms. You can be lucky and get a room overlooking the bay or unlucky and your view is the carpark (unfortunately our view was the carpark, c'est la vie). Standard bathroom - although the shower door was a little old and grubby. Fortunately I was distracted by the delightful complementary Elemis toiletries. Smelt amazing, and certainly made me wish I had more time to visit their Elemis Spa. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Possibly the best steak I've had in years. Medium rare cooked to perfection. Lovely serving staff also. Very reasonably priced wine list. Overall an enjoyable stay and I look forward to visiting again in the future.

There seem to be mixed reviews about this hotel, I can only say that we booked a 4 night stay on a very reasonable DBB deal and had a lovely time that was excellent value for money. We had a clean very comfortable room on the 3rd floor overlooking Oysterbay, stunning. Breakfast was always hot and of a good standard and the evening meals which were included in the deal were tasty, well cooked and nicely presented, we particularly enjoyed the the goats cheese starter and fish chowder and also the mains of Hake, Chicken and also the steak. The bar/restaurant area was a little chaotic at times and we did have a bit of a wait between courses one evening but the staff were lovely and apologetic and clearly trying really hard to please everyone, the wait did not bother us as we like to take our time over a meal. All the staff on reception and in the restaurant were cheerful and chatty with us, we mentioned one thing about the room and when we returned later that day it had been sorted no fuss just done. We used the pool, jacuzzi, sauna every day and found this the perfect way to spend a hour when back from a day exploring. I had a facial in the spa one afternoon which was lovely. We would definitely stay again as there is so much to see and explore in the area.

The staff at this hotel lack proper training in Customer Services. We stayed for 3 nights. I was greeted by the evening duty manager each evening and the security person was very friendly. Cleaning staff friendly. Reception non existent, the staff don't even make eye contact. Service in the bar/restaurant was horrendous. My husband waited 25mins for dessert. There were 8 guests having food in the bar/restaurant. The same menu is served each evening. While we were at the hotel there was a wedding on the Saturday. Many of the wedding guests had breakfast in the main restaurant on Sunday morning. Breakfast is served from 7am. The restaurant manager appeared at 9.45. Breakfast was discussing, fried eggs floating in oil, scrambled eggs overcooked. Cold plates on the overhead shelf of the hotfoot breakfast counter. The bedroom was the nicest part of are stay. Very comfortable and clean. Tea/coffee facilities were provided, however the 2 small bottles of water were obviously there from the previous guest as one of the bottles was only half full. During the 3 day stay thus was never rectified when the tea/coffee tray was being refreshed. This hotel is over-rated and over-priced with very unprofessional staff. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. I heard many people complaining when they were checking out over the weekend. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We will not be returning anytime soon.

Lovely location and views. Room was fab very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable and was very quiet. The lobby area is lovely and bright. We were very disappointed with the dinning room in need of a revamp and the glass on roof area was very dirty and lots if mould on it. Also the canopy was covered with dead flies when you looked up not ideal when you eating underneath. Food was just ok on 1st night the chicken was under cooked was expecting way higher standard for a 4☆ hotel. We booked the restaurant for the 2nd night also but were disappointed when we arrived to find it closed and we had to eat in the bar. As we were away on a romantic break for our anniversary and all dressed up would have been nice to have been able to have romantic setting. Some other couples also said they had restaurant booked. Upon leaving and paying our bill there was a mistake with amount way too high which we pointed out then another bill produced that was under we pointed this out and were told this was correct. After we had left and were about half an hour gone we got a phonecall from hotel to say there was a mistake with our bill we were undercharged and we explained what had happened and they said it was a trainee and would take extra from our card. Thought bit unprofessional. Staff were not over friendly. The changing rooms in health centre also in need of a revamp lots of lockers with no locks and no bags for wet clothes. Overall bedrooms nice but rest if hotel not to a 4 ☆ standard which is a pity as location fantastic.
