Chose the hotel for it's easy access via local transport and walking distance to many places. Good view of harbor/canal. Will stay here again.
Nicely redecorated hotel on the canal, close to everything.
Rooms are absurdly small. Reserved a room w/a double bed and a single bed. Contained only a double bed and there is no way another bed would fit in the room! Carpet was very worn, and in fact had holes in some places down to the netting underneath. No matter what I did, the shower created a huge puddle on the floor every time I used it. Just a sad, sad hotel. That said, it is in a great neighborhood, centrally located, and the staff was very nice.
This hotel is OK, but not very good. Internet is very slow. night is hot, No AC
Nice & clean hotel. Service was good and staff was helpful. The location was a few minutes walk to any parts of the tourist center and to the central station. Will surely stay there again if ever we come back to Copenhagen.
We had a great time in Copenhagen and the room was sufficient. Loved location and able to spend time with great friends who live there. Prices were high for a three star hotel. Front desk staff were excellent and really helped having unbrellas!
Double rooms are small and just adequate for 2. A 3rd (teenager) meant literally wall to wall beds.
Location and staff were amazing. Stayed in an Executive room it was really spacious for the two of us. Only downside is that we were given the room on the first floor - this is pretty much at street level. We had wanted the Executive room to enjoy the view of the water, but ended up having to keep the curtains closed because everyone who passes by can look right in!
I was visiting Copenhagen to see my daughter who was studying abroad during the summer. The hotel is conveniently located near Nyhavn, which is a postcard perfect collection of shops, cafes, and nightclubs. From the airport you can take the subway then walk a few blocks to the hotel.
We arrived in Copenhagen with two very wet bags and soaked clothing. The staff was very helpful in getting our clothes laundered and delivered in a timely manner so we could enjoy our short stay in this wonderful city. We upgraded our room to a suite, which overlooked the canal, perfect!! Within walking distance to metro, and town center.
The location is nice, safe and close to the historic center and attractions, like Nehawn, but it is still 5-10 minute walk to nearby attractions and public transport. The hotel itself is a bit worn and not impressive, but it is good value for short stay
Couple with a 12th years old kid, we stayed at hotel for one night before a ship cruise boarding. Room was comfortable, clean and updated; some minor cosmetic scratches on furniture. Updated bathroom with all required supplies. Room is small when compared to USA standards but this is usual in Europe. Staff was very friendly and helpful; all of them speaked English. Breakfast was fine for our taste. If you are not from Northern Europe, be prepared for a menu that includes unfamiliar and unusual items. There is no A/C system and it was not needed (June 15th); even with windows closed!!! Copenhagen is a very safe city. If you are in good health, the hotel is at walking distance to all major attractions. Excellent choice for city sightseeing. Please note that this is a hotel with basic amenities and not a resort.
Great tourist class hotel. Location right on the canal. We paid 127 US dollars per night for a very small double. Room size did not bother us as we were not in hotel much. Hotel overlooks the canal. You can walk 4 blocks to the Nyhan district where tour buses and canal cruises depart. A lot of touristy restaurants there, but stay away from them. Breakfast buffet is very generous. We went to Cafe Orstrup on Holbergsgade for great sandwiches or soup for $6 to $9. Great food. Fabulous fine dining restaurant Becks Bistro literally around the corner. Great restaurant and atmosphere. 3 course dinner for $55. Very nice owners and really gourmet food.
Located on the canal and convenient to all locations. Clean. One side of double bed was against a wall; small room with wardrobe but ample bathroom. European breakfast was delicious and filling. Refrigerator in room. Ice available at desk.
Stayed at Strand hotel for three nights while on a short business trip to Copenhagen. Arrived early on Sunday morning after arriving from the US. Since it was weekend, the hotel was fully booked and no room was available immediately. As soon as guests started checking out, a room was cleaned and I was able to get in to my room at 11am. The (single) room was small, but large enough en had everything I needed. I was at the back side of the hotel, which was really quiet (although there was not much traffic at the front side of the hotel either) and allowed me to sleep with the window open. The location of the hotel is really convenient, just around the corner from Nye Havn (a major tourist attraction) and a 5 min walk from the metro station. The metro takes you in 15 - 20 minutes to the airport. Hotel gusests were a mixture of tourists and those on business. At the moment there is only wifi in the lobby of the hotel, but they provide cables so you can connect your lap top in the room, and they are currently installing wifi on all the floors. the best part is probably the breakfast, which is included in the price. Freshly baked bread rolls, croissants and of course Danish pastries!
Although we thought the room we booked would be a good value. Upon checking in we were told that this room was extremely small and less than a double size bed. Therefore we upgraded at an additional $16 per night.
Copenhagen is a walkable, friendly city. We toured it by foot and also took a water cruise. This hotel was located in walking distance to most tourist sites and right near the center of restaurant and nightlife. Good value, very friendly staff. highly recommend it.
This is a very nice hotel with a great location. You just walk a block and you are at the water in beautiful Nyhaven. The hotel room is small but clean and nice and has everything you need. The staff was very friendly. The Hop on Hop off bus has a stop just a couple blocks away. I would recommend this hotel. We stayed here the night before we left for a cruise and it was perfect!
We felt as second class citizens with our Orbitz reservation. Upon check in, the receptionist asked if the two couples of us wanted adjacent rooms and we indicated that would be nice and he had them lined up. Then he discovered we were an Orbitz reservation and the two adjacent rooms disappeared which wasn't a big deal for us but it seemed our Orbitz reservation was a factor and made us wonder. Our room was quite small and the double bed was pushed against the wall making it difficult for one person to get in and out. As well there was only one reading light on one side of the bed. The hotel was perfectly adequate though nothing special.
Copenhagen Strand Hotel has an outstanding staff that is most helpful in answering my many questions about the city and offered suggestions on how to enjoy my time. They offer a wonderful breakfast before you head out for the day. Just around the coner is Nyhaven on the canal, a place to catch the guided tour boats and hop on hop off bus that will take you to every part of the city you want to visit. The weather was wet and overcast, but this did not deter enjoying the wonders of Copenhagen
