We were very close to Cologne Cathedral and a 15 minute walk from Ursula's cathedral. Our manager was accommodating, giving us a couple of forks from the dining area when our restaurant forgot them. The room layout was a little weird, and I thought I broke the TV swivel, lol.
On my email check in time was 12.00, but I have to wait till 15.00. It’s should be a double bed with some space and minibar, but I get tiny room with single bed. At least it was very clean room. Definitely far away from four star hotel.
Location is good, Many restaurants is nearby, also DOM and shoppingstreet. Legendary PapaJoes (smallone) is 200m this hotel, Breakfast is okay, some rooms are old, but some is build new. My usually room 102 is now my friend, and i got old room from 4. floor. Toilet is same as boat :) Anyway, our anuga going again good, thanks.
A pleasant boutique hotel right in the centre of town. Offers private, secure parking connected to the larger hotel nearby at a reduced rate. Modern bathroom with a window looking into the bedroom! Excellent for a short stay.
Room was big, but nothing fancy in it and it definetly needed a little refresh. It was also upstairs of nightclub, so it was also noisy. Even it wasn't my problem since I sleep where I wan't to sleep, noisy or not :) Breakfast was basic, like vanilla ice cream, not bad not really good. I had everything I needed to be ready for the day. Biggest plus is location, really close to the cathedral and river, so beautiful city :)
On no account stay here if you are in Cologne to work. It is sandwiched between two nightclubs and the (very loud) music starts about 7pm and goes on past 1am. My room was in the front and despite the fact the manager assured me it 'was a very nice room' (it wasn't - it smelt manky and unaired) with 'new' windows, the cigarette smoke wafting through the 'new' windows, the yelling from the drinkers and the excessively loud music made this one of the most unpleasant 72 hours I have spent in a long while. There was no kettle in the room and no facilities at all at the hotel so I couldn't even have a cup of tea. Truly awful.
Just a few minutes walk from the train station and centrally located, mere minutes from the Christmas markets, Cathedral, riverside and bars. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast buffet offered a very wide and high quality selection. The room was comfortable.
A very centrally located hotel just next to several bars/pubs. The entrance becomes noisy and crowded in the evening due to rush to these bars. Rooms are classically decorated with basic facilities. Do not expect much but can be classified as a "somewhat budget hotel". Clean and cosy but some staff members, especially the older ones, are not interested in the guests' comfort and needs.
We recently stayed at Hotel An Der Philharmonie while visiting Cologne. At first we struggled to find it as the taxi drivers by the main station wasn't keen to take us. they told us that the trip was too short and not worth the effort. A warning in case you have lots of luggage - there are some stairs to climb in order to get to the hotel. When we finally found the hotel we were impressed. Not only is the hotel a minute's walk from the river and about 5 minutes from the Cathedral, but the room was huge. Our room had 2 single beds for the kids, a double bed for us, a TV and a big bathroom. The people we met during our stay at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely return to Hotel An Der Philharmonie if I ever visit Cologne again.
Approaching an age whereby I should start subtracting a year like some well known European actress's, I did the chaps thing and succumbed to my wifes offer of a 2 day trip to Cologne. Expecting a round of shoe and handbag shops ,was pleasantly surprised to find she had booked a hotel by the side of the Rhine knowing my passion for water, boats etc. Sensible family run unpretensious hotel with 4 floors. She knows I sleep poorly so arranged a top floor room before hand and sure enough this was arranged, being a Sunday not to much of a push for space anyway, Charming greeting from the young lady from Bulgaria on the reception and it felt right from the start. Large room comfortable bed, bit too close to the Cathedral though re the bells as Quosimodo's german cousin did him proud! Our choice so no issue, this hotel really is well placed for the walk from the station across the cathedral square is short and pleasant and its central location cannot be faulted. Dont go for a meal at the tourist priced and disinterested restaurants on the water front. Hotel knows the right places, ask!.Pleasant unhurried breakfast, good people here.
