Last month we stayed twice in Hotel Ernst. The first time we had a beautiful suite: two rooms, big bathroom, walk-in closet, separate toilet. The second time we had decided to use a free night award from the Leading Hotel Club, but even so we got a beautiful twin-bedded room (twins is what we prefer), with every comfort, and a great bathroom with separate shower. We really felt pampered! In the morning there is a very good breakfast buffet in the Hanse Stube restaurant. The mahogany panelled restaurant, which comes into its own at night, might not be the sunniest place to drink your morning cappuccino. But the service is friendly, and the cappuccino is excellent.
Spent the weekend here. Fantastic choice. An amazing location-2 minute walk from train station, the Dom right outside the front door, minutes away from museums, Altstadt, restaurants, breweries. We booked a standard room but it was huge & luxurious. The marble bathroom included a giant jetted tub which my husband loved. The public spaces were well appointed, the staff extremely courteous & helpful. We especially enjoyed watching & talking to the bartender on Saturday evening when we stopped for a nightcap. Hotel even has an original Van Dyke hanging on one wall! Can’t say enough about this positive experience!
My family and I stayed over the weekend so we could see the Cathedral in Cologne. This property is just across the street, and is 2 minutes walk from the Cologne Main Train Station. We stayed in the Hanse Stube wing of the hotel, which has been recently refurbished with great touches...we were able to get two adjoining rooms so space with a family of four wasn't an issue...rooms are fairly spacious anyway. The staff was attentive and helpful and found ways to accommodate our needs. We had dinner in the Hanse Stube resturaunt, and they were accommodating to our youngest in a friendly unobtrusive way. Finally, access to the shopping district is just across the street I would highly recommend staying here
Located across a plaza from the train station, it is also next to the Dom, the top attraction in town and close to the other museums. The staff was attentive and helpful. the rooms were spacious and the A/C was great. Everything about the hotel was clean and elegant, without being too extravagant.
The hotel is beautiful and centrally located to the Dom Cathedral, train station, restaurants and other activities. We were surprised at how beautiful our room was and how comfortable the amenities were. We truly enjoyed our stay and the staff was very welcoming and helpful!
I like this hotel this is the second time I stay in it ,the location is in front of the church ,dumo and near the train station, room are nice ,all the employee are helpful they deserve the best ,special thanks to the Conciërge gentleman who whose working in the morning shift during our stay ,the breakfast was ok. But not to much choices but the waiter are very helpful, thank you to all of them
We stopped at Cologne during our Christmas market hunt last December. The location was perfect - we managed to find most of the markets with one right across the street at the Cathedral. This hotel did not feel as homey and welcoming as some of the others during that trip, but it was still a great hotel with perfect access. I would recommend it highly for a business trip - very metropolitan and well done. Will return if I can.
Perfect location near the train station and the city centre. Very spacious room (grand deluxe room) at the back of the building. Big and comfortable bed. Complementary minibar and tablet with internet access. A little room for improvement at breakfast though. The "Azubis" were trying their best, but at times they seemed to be running around aimlessly. Breakfast itself was excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay!
We only spent one night here but felt extremely well taken care of. The room was much bigger, than we had thought for the price we paid and the buffet for breakfast left hardly any space for complains: it was sooo delicious and especially the coffee was a dream in a cup! You can find this place right behind the Central Station, if you leave it through the entrance pointing towards the river (not to the Cathedral).
We came here for lunch and did not use the hotel. The food was simply delicious and the presentation was an act in itself. The kitchen sent us a dish as a Welcome, which is hard to describe. The macaroon was infused with truffle and placed on a bed of red peppers with a floral scent and flavour. The thought of serving this with tuna wasn't the most appealing combination, however it worked perfectly. The soup was a rich beef flavoured dish and for mains, I was presented was a really tender brisket of beef with fresh vegetables and a delicious cream sauce. If you're after a fine dining experience, I highly recommend this restaurants. Compliments to the chef.
