The property is an older one with room with exterior entrances. Breakfast was non- inspiring . Evening staff was nice directed to a local restaurant with good food, morning desk clerk was really not interested.
Absolutely horrid motel. This room had a damaged door that had been kicked open in the past and the door jam was all broken up and wood chips from that were laying about on the floor. While I was loading my car and checking out I noticed there was trash lying about the place like a banana peel on the second floor landing and an empty soft drink cup on the back stairwell that had been there since the night before when I checked in. The only decent things about the place was the wifi (this worked OK) and the free ice from the ice machine.
Through are vacation we stayed at a lot of Days Inn. This one was the worst. We asked for two queen beds and got two doubles when we asked for another room the front desk was very rude and said they only had doubles left( parking lot was empty). When we got to the room we turned on the ac and it wouldn't come on. When it finally did come on it was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you and it kept kicking on and off all night waking everyone up and it wasn't set on auto fan. This was our worst hotel stay and I would not recommend this hotel
They only offered toast for breakfast. No milk for the cereal. No hot breakfast as advertised; not even oatmeal; just empty pans being displayed.
When I was concerned about an extra room charge on my bank statement, I called the front desk and was immediately treated in a rude and condescending manner. Supposedly, despite the fact that my bank said it was a charge, the clerk insisted it was an authorization and not a real charge. Meanwhile, as I type this 4 DAYS LATER, I am still out 159.00 as there has been NO sign of that money being returned to my account! I will never stay at another Days Inn and will make sure my friends and family don't either.
Arrived early, had to yell for someone to come to the front desk. Finally someone came, got my room, had a hard time locking door. Went to get ice, and couldn't get back in. Went back to front office, again couldn't get anyone's attention, was about a 20 minute wait as I kept opening and closing the office door to see if the bell would alert anyone!! The desk person checked my card and said it worked, went back to the roomand it didn't work!!! So, back to the office, same crap all over again. Finally she came with me to check, ended up moving my room. An hour later, about 8 guys from the local road crew checked in, they were so loud I couldn't even watch TV, they finally stopped at about 11:30 pm!!!,
We're on a fast trip. Just needed a good night's sleep. The room was average. The bed was GREAT !!! We even looked for a tag to see what it was. The only problem was the heating unit, it was full of lent, dust bunnies, very dirty. The air we breathed was coming through it. Breakfast, gravey cold, biscuits hard as rock and cold they went into trash can. But the bed was GREAT.
First room had a bad smell and ashes on the bed, in a nonsmoking room. The second room did not have any smells, still was not that clean. Some of the tile was broke. The toilet would not flush all the time. The entry door was very hard to open. It seemed like they are not doing the upkeep on this property, The maid's either did not care or were overworked.
Hotel was fine but misleading. They offered breakfast but when we got up.in the morning was told because they didn't have enough guest it was only cold cereal. We would have like to have been told at check in so we could have made other plans.
I stayed here because my son and I were in town to tour DePauw University in the next town over, and all of the decent places in Greencastle were booked solid. This place seemed to have decent ratings, and I had had reasonable experiences with other Days Inns before, so I booked it. The clerk when I arrived wasn't rude, but he also wasn't overly pleasant, and I felt I was putting him out for him to have to check me in. The room was not the cleanest - the sink had something in it, there was dust on the tv stand, and there was what appeared to be a chunk of hair on the floor (I wasn't about to touch it to find out!). Room and motel was run down and dingy. But, sheets and towels smelled clean, and shower ran well with lots of hot water. There was a broken light that flickered all night outside our room. Another guest had blocked the parking access to my door by leaving his truck and large trailer parked in the middle of the parking lot without room for me to get around him. I beeped to get the owner's attention (he was in the motel) and he came out screaming at the top of his lungs "WHAT?!!!!!?" Then gave me the stink eye as he moved his truck. NO COFFEE AT BREAKFAST!! Eggs were ice cold (we were there before 8am), and not much in the means of offerings. Worst of all, I paid more for this room than I did for the beautiful Marriot rooms in PA that I stayed in the night before and after as I drove from New England. The towns in this area seem pretty economically depressed, so I think this is the status quo for the area, but if I had to do it again, I'd stay further out of town for a nicer place and would have driven in.
