BreakFree hotel is next to Lululemon shop on the main shopping streets. We managed to park our car right in front of the hotel overnight without having to pay the night parking since we arrived after 10pm in Christchurch. Next morning - we paid an hr parking since the charge started from 9am. We had 3 rooms booked in different configurations. 1 was really tiny without windows so it was impossible to open the luggage. 2nd room was 2 single beds and also tiny. My 3rd room has a big bed, tiny windows. The bedsheets on my bed - had many hairs. Hairs of different types. As it was late, I brushed it off without complaints. Toilet was a challenge as it was a small cubicle and I was tiny at 5ft 1 only ! Breakfast was typical but the coffee machine was not very good. Overall it is a modest budget priced hotel.

Our room was spacious and generally nicely appointed; however, it lacked storage space. No dresser, shelves or drawers in the bathroom. This meant that we heaped piles of clothes on the two chairs meant for casual seating. Otherwise, the hotel was great! Friendly and helpful staff, solid breakfast, luggage storage, and good dinner options on the nights we didn’t feel like going out in search of food. The hotel is also EXTREMELY well located in the CBD, which is very walkable. We would stay here again if in Christchurch.

Booking in was fine. I was having a nap when another guest was given my room and walked in. That was unacceptable. As a result my room card was cancelled so had to reactivate that at reception as I couldn’t get back in my room. They then tried to bill me the next day for items the other guest had purchased. Very poor. Do better!

We stayed in a premier room which was very comfortable and well worth the extra few dollars. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the bar area was quiet and worth a visit for a small night cap drink. The hotel was fully booked and with a central location in Christchurch I can see why this is a popular place to stay being so close to the local bars and restaurants.

The rooms were clean, the hotel is in such a good spot for getting around CCH central. The rooms we stayed in didn't have windows, but they were clean, and perfect for what we needed.
