Rendezvous Hotel Christchurch

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

This hotel was one of the few in the Christchurch central business district that performed well in the 2010-11 earthquakes, but it has struggled to keep pace since then. The accommodation is decent, the staff are nice and helpful, the rooms are satisfactory, the gym is useful. However, they have had constant struggles with their elevators -- a serious problem for a hotel with 15 floors (and apartments up to the 22nd floor). The elevators were under repair when I visited previously in 2016 and were failing again during this visit: one elevator was broken nearly my whole visit, and both were broken during some parts, requiring guests to walk up/down 14 flights of stairs; clearly unacceptable. The WiFi was mediocre to lousy, inconsistent in speed and dropped out often. Earthquake-induced damage was quite clear in the room: most likely just superficial nonstructural damage, but it is surprising that it has not been repaired in the 10 months since the last quake.

The hotel is located in the heart if Christchurch with easy access to restaurants and other amenities. It is reasonably priced and the staff were attentive.

We had a nice stay. The hotel is being renovated-the lobby and restaurant are complete. The rooms are comfortable not terribly dated but it will be nice when they are completed. The pool was closed as well.

The rooms was small but acceptable but the bathroom was so small and poorly laid out that it was almost unusable. There was no counter space near the sink and the shower had no place to put soap, shampoo. etc. except to drop it on the floor when not in use

This vacation was in the plans for a year. Every thing was great. The hotel and staff are the best, the city is still rebuilding but we still had a good time. The local people were very nice and helpful.

Located 4 blocks from the Canterbury Museum and Botanical Gardens, also next to a shopping street. The rooms are quiet, though small. There's no wifi in the room, though it's free in the noisy lobby/bar area.

Hotel was nice, near shops and sites. Tram right next door.

This was our first hotel on our two week visit to New Zealand. The hotel was clean and location wise it was very close to city Centre. due to the post earthquake work there isnt a whole lot to see, and there is a lot of construction going on. However the hotel was nice and the staff friendly.

Dont go to christchurch...nowhere to eat and nothing to do, the whole city is wrecked still.

The Rendezvous Hotel was quiet and close to things in downtown Christchurch. They were very helpful in arranging shuttles, etc. Unfortunately the downtown area does not have as many things to see or restaurants to choose from due to the earthquake damage, but we were able to walk to some fairly close. We loved the Botanical gardens that were an easy walk from the hotel.
