Clarion Hotel & Convention Center Joliet

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Conveniently located off I-80 and across the street from Bob Evans (great french toast). They have comp. Wifi and breakfast (did not use though). The lobby area was a bit loud on a Sat night (3 celebrations) however our room on the 4th floor was quiet and comfortable. Has outdoor pool. The price was higher than nearby Red Roof Inn and Motel 6 but worth it for a good night's sleep. (I've stayed at both in recent past).

It was clearly stated in my reservation that I had booked a non-smoking room. My boyfriend has a respiratory condition and smoking exacerbates it exponentially. When I arrived at the hotel, I confirmed with the attendant at the front desk that the room was non-smoking. She assured me it was. Well, low and behold we enter the hallway to the room and all we can smell are cigarettes. We open the door to the room, and see ash trays on the dresser and in the bathroom. Doesn't look or smell like non-smoking to me. I went to the front desk to ask to be moved, and instead of apologizing for the oversight and giving me a new room, the attendant tried to convince me that yes, it was indeed a non-smoking room. Excuse me? Needless to say we walked out - with NO refund. I will never in my life stay at a Clarion again.

Hotel staff was friendly and attentive. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable and overall stay was two thumbs up.

Nice job clean friendly and close to where I needed to be

Very convenient location, it was easy to just right back in I 80! Staff was helpful and friendly.

I was not impressed. We arrived around 3PM 07/10/15. The parking lot looked like a tailgate party. There were beer cans, drink cups, cigarette butts, and blowing papers everywhere. My wife went into the desk to get our keys. She was told by the person at the desk You know the breakfast is not free at your room's rate. That was the answer to her question of what time breakfast was served. We paid $169.34 FOR 1 NIGHT, and weren't welcome for breakfast. Sad part is 90 of our stays are at Choice brand properties. This the first time we have ever had a bad stay. To the property managers, you might wand to go down by door B now and then. That is where we entered and were greeted by cigarette smoke where your employees gather in your non-smoking facility.

Our experience at the hotel was not good. Walking on the first floor the carpet was filthy. And overbearing smell of smoke.we did have two other incidents that occurred. The day we checked in, we had no idea that the hotel changed names. From Holiday Inn to Clarion, after speaking to the General Manager on the incidents, she did credit my bill. I did read the reviews but took a chance on staying there. In any future trips we will not stay there

Convenient. Nice, clean room. Liked the breakfast, too.

It was a nice, clean room. Would stay here again. Staff was very friendly.

Don't let the title scare you, as Joliet itself has a bad reputation. I am not terribly familiar with the area but I had no issues with the area and felt right at home. We were there for the NASCAR weekend and weren't able to check in early, so the staff was nice enough to get our transportation needs in order as we aren't familiar with anything out there. After returning to the hotel in the evening we ate at the restaurant which was good but had a limited menu due to the time of night. The room was clean (being in the hospitality industry myself I check for cleanliness) and well stocked. The soaps are excellent, and overall we had a great time. We will use this location again if we visit the racetrack again.

We got great price or I'd have been upset. Smokers got 1st floor. We had 1 SLOW elevator to take us to 3. Old air conditioner, noisy, didn't take humidity out of room and it was 95 outside. After going to race wanted relax with drink and dinner, they kicked us out at 10, on the weekend, Had 1 person working on special event weekend. Also had get breakfast voucher everyday even though was there for 4 days . No orange juice unless pay $2. Great location for race.

GREAT price or I would have been upset with this property. The place is old, you have a noisy air conditioner that doesn't take the humidity out of the room and it was 95 outside. No refrigerator. Breakfast is included but you have to go to the front desk everyday for vouchers (we were there for 4 days) and if you wanted orange juice it was $2 extra. No fruit either. Great job on cleaning the room but 1 slow elevator. To get non-smoking room had go 2 or 3rd floor. Half the time the ice machines didn't work except on1st floor. We selected this so after late race we could come here have a drink and dinner. One person working on special event weekend and they kicked everyone out at 10.

HOTEL NEEDS UPDATING.....:/ SUPER 8 ACROSS THE STREET HAS FLAT SCREENS.

We were in town for a wedding and decided to stay overnight. The breakfast was a nice touch but the room air conditioner blew air right on your back and there was no way to ajust it. So that is my only complaint for an otherwise nice room. Thanks for the friendlyness and hospitality.

Nice hotel. Well kept, and very clean. The breakfast was very good, especially for an "included free breakfast". Every breakfast is made to order. The only bad thing I can say is that the parking lot was somewhat poorly lit. I was slightly uncomfortable leaving my car in the lot. Nothing happened, though.

I was very impressed with my entire stay, even though short. The rooms were exceptionally clean and all were friendly. Did not quitre expect the gret breakfast that we received. So use to having just coffee and sweet rolls. I will definetly use this hotel again.

The room was ready so we could check-in early, which helped with our schedule. Plus, when we checked-in we were given coupons for complimentary breakfast in the restaurant-full breakfast, too:pancakes or eggs, bacon or sausage, coffee. I wish we could've stayed longer-it was very peaceful, clean, and comfortable.

Hotel was very convenient for us. We were in Joliet to attend the National Drag Races at Route 66 Speedway. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was quiet, comfortable and clean.

It was great we just needed a place that was close to the concert we went to room was nice.
