The hotel is pretty close to the train station, 8 minutes walk or you can take the monorail one stop from the Chiba Station. From the outside, the hotel looks fine, once you step inside the hotel, the impression changed 180°. The front counter staff, I am not sure if it is because they do not have good command of the English language or they are simply rude, it is a judgement call. The hotel looks like it is in desperate need of an upgrade. My nonsmoking room is smoky and dreadful. The comforter looks like at least 20 years old, amenities wise they are pretty advance if this year is 1981.
I was in Chiba from 1st to 4th April. the rooms of hotel are clean. However, rooms are small even from a Japanese perspective. Location is close to Chiba station which is accessible by Monorail, Keisei line and JR line, So it made the commute very easy. You can't carry too much of luggage with you and expect it to fit in the room. Front desk will mostly have one person during the day shift who understands english. During night, you will be on your own or with the help of some translation app, you might get what you want.
Although I stayed this hotel during peak period of travelling in May (so-called golden week in Japan), the tariff was remaining almost same as the other season which gave me nice impression beforehand. The quality of bed was so excellent that I could slept very well in addition to the good location near to JR Chiba station.
Part of the Washington Hotel Chain (is it only in Japan?) - this is a partiarly run down property. We needed to catch a flight out of Narita Airport the next morning and thought this may be a reasonable option (considering most hotels in Tokyo area were booked). Not so convenient - as we later learned the connection to Narita was just a slow train once every hour (took 58 minutes!). Anyhow the hotel itself needs attention. The room was dilapidated with Aircon/ Heater switches that did not work at all. Ceiling was broken. Fortunately it was still Spring in Chiba and I managed to open a window...Otherwise ok. Check in was painfully slow and wooden. Your below average Business hotel of Japan.
I was a little wary of staying here as there were very few recent English reviews, yet I needn't have worried. I booked this for 3 nights for the purpose of attending a meeting in Chiba city, and was drawn by it's convenient location and reasonable price. It was good value for money - room & hotel were exceptionally clean and staff members were friendly and helpful. I thought the bed was actually quite soft for Japanese standards! I did need to ask directions as I couldn't find the entrance, so I would advise printing off a map first if possible. The front entrance is located down a small alley just past the NTT building, which is opposite the Mitsukoshi department store near the station. Apart from the many food outlets and decent shopping in Chiba city there is not an awful lot to do here, but it's very convenient for travel to Tokyo, Narita, Disneyland etc so I would not hesitant to recommend it.
The hotel was situated in a quiet part of the downtown Chiba, but near enough to the Central Chiba Station, and a few steps away from the Chiba Monorail Station of Sakaecho. Across the road are restaurants and department stores. A good place to choose if you want to stay in a hotel near Tokyo, but not pay expensive Tokyo room prices.Anyway Tokyo is just about 50 minutes away by train, and Tokyo Disney about 20 to 30 minutes away. The rooms were clean and not as small as those in other Tokyo hotels.Definitely good value!
Like most hotels in japan, The hotel room is quite small.. and the toilet is tiny! but nevertheless, It's still a affordable hotel to stay in. It's clean and the ambience is nice. It's only a 4 minutes stroll to the Chiba (JR lines) Train station and it takes about 45 minutes to get into tokyo. Good location. there's also a nice departmental store right across the street from the hotel (Mitsukoshi). I will stay at this hotel again if i were to return to Chiba!
