We stayed at the U as part of a mini tour of Thailand. The U is in the heart of the old town and had great access to many of the top thing to see and do in the city centre. The service was amazing at we felt totally at home from the minute arrived. There policy of you being able to have breakfast any time is a great idea. We enjoyed not having to rush about and ate at our leisure. If we return to chaing mai it would always be to stay at the U chiang mai hotel.
Hard to choose a better place in Chiang Mai! This hotel was a highlight of my first trip to Thailand. It did not disappoint. You will find the property to be very well kept, and a welcome boutique paradise in the heart of the Old City.
Stayed here for 3 nights before moving on to Krabi. Great check in , we arrived about 9am after an early flight from Bangkok and was surprised to find our room was ready after just a 10 minute wait. We were given cold cloths to cool off then shown to our lovely room . The room was traditional Thai which was lovely after staying at the Sheraton Bangkok. The large bed was extremely comfortable with very soft pillows. Good bathroom with bath and shower Outside our room we had a lovely little area for sunbathing and a small swim up pool. Breakfast could be taken anytime , anyplace which was a real bonus and had plenty of choice Check out was anytime too so need to be sat out in the heat waiting for your pickup Chiang Mai, I found very dirty , smelly , noisy and full of rats at the end of the night after all the restaurants put out their waste!! There are lots of beautiful temples but again the biggest plus for me are the Thai people , so genuinely warm and happy people I would highly recommend the hotel if you need a little oasis in the middle of an hectic bustling city
Modern hotel in a central location. Rooms a little small and hotel could do with some TLC but overall we were quitely impressed by this hotel. Really friendly and helpful staff in reception - all of whom could speak English well. The amazing thing for a hotel so close to the centre of a bustling town located on a bustling street is how quiet it was, no background noise at all!. Good restaurant which served a good breakfast.
We visits during Songkran in April 2017! The first day was AWESOME! The main water fighting was directly out front of the hotel. It was so much fun, and if you wanted to watch, but not get wet, you could go up to the roof top bar and watch from above! We stayed in the Superior room with pool access. The room: - Very spacious - large shower and bathroom, plenty of room around the bed, and plenty of room on the back patio - Bed is huge and incredibly comfortable Bathroom: - Shower gets HOT and is probably the best shower I've ever showered in - Huge mirrors - Not the best lighting Pricing: - Rooms are pretty expensive, relative to similar style hotels we visited but the amenities and location make up for it. - The restaurant onsite is very expensive. The Old City Inn Restauant right across the street is incredible and much cheaper. After a couple high priced meals at "Eat and Drink" (1000-1500 THB w/ drinks) we stopped going and opted for meals outside the hotel (400-800 THB w/ drinks).
We absolutely loved our stay at U Chiang Mai. Our rooms were lovely - in fact, I loved the feel/ambiance of the entire hotel. The staff is very welcoming and friendly, and they are willing to help you with anything you need. Our breakfast was included with the room, and it was so nice to walk down every morning and eat before we explored the city. There was both a buffet (with pastries, cereal, fruit, parfaits, and juices) and a menu with coffee, lattes, eggs, omelettes, and noodles (the noodles were delicious). They also provide complimentary bikes to help you explore the city, and the hotel is right in the middle of everything so you can also walk. The pool is very nice and they provide towels and lounge chairs. We took a dip almost everyday afternoon after walking around in the heat all day. We also went to the spa. I had a wonderful massage (at least I think I did since I slept through most of it)! We would absolutely stay here again!
The room was clean and tidy . Staff were polite and being helpful . The location is accessible and convenient. There are lots of spa and massage nearby. Restaurant are nice. From airport to hotel only takes 15 mins.
Me and my girlfriend were here for 4 nights. We loved the hotel, when you enter that place is like a totally different world than the noisy street. We had a spacious room at the first floor with a huge bed. They offer free fruits and water everyday, the location has a pool, the personnel was very friendly. The breakfast was a little bit scarce, unfortunately, and the AC in the room is noisy. You'll find a speaker and an ipod in your room, a nice touch.
What an incredible hotel. The staff were beyond brilliant. The hotel was beautifully traditional in decor. The pool was wonderful. On arriving out initial thought was a little disappointment when we saw the size of the pool and that there were such few sun beds but actually it doesn't make any difference to the stay. Never during our 4 days were all the beds used and the pool was lovely. We were brilliantly located within the old walls, everything was easily accessible and the airport is only 15 mins or so. We've never experienced such great customer service; the staff were phenomenal- every single person! we booked on a bed as breakfast deal and I loved how you could choose where you had breakfast. The shower was lovely, the toiletries smelt delicious and we loved our stay. We would thoroughly recommend.
Beautiful courtyard property in a good central location. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. This is not a large chain hotel, so don't expect 500 TV channels(!), however as small hotels go it was very efficient. One watch out if you're not child-friendly though... the hotel is structured around a central courtyard, and very tranquil without children, but very noisy when they're all in the pool! Not a problem for us as we had a young family, but a few older guests might have been better booking outside of the easter holidays!
