De Chai The Colonial Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

Stayed at De Chai colonial over a week ago and had a great experience. First, the location is fantastic as it is very short walking distance to many temples and the night bazaar. Second, the room was very clean and quiet, making it great to relax and sleep in. Lastly, the service was top notch. The only drawback to this hotel is the water temperature in the shower cuts in and out. If the hotel can fix its water pressure, it'd be just about perfect. In the end, I'd highly recommend de chai colonial.
This hotel was clean and had a great location!! Staff is very friendly and helpful. They helped accommodate our schedule and gave us great dinner recommendations. We felt very safe. If you enjoy pools, I think there are better ones out there. That would be my only reason to not stay here again. The pool was clean, just not very large or under the sun.
We were recommended by friends to stay here and were not disappointed. The hotel is in the outer wall area and only a short walk to the wall. The room was clean and the bed was low but comfortable. The breakfast buffet was really good. The workers were very nice and helpful. Right out side the alley in the evenings is a Roti cart that make these amazing egg and cheese roti (like a tortilla). In the alley is a quaint little bar called Cozy Bar or something like that. Also in the alley is a laudromat/massage place. We didn't use the laundry service because we just had just arrived in Thailand and would use the laundry service when we reached our next destination Vietnam. We did utilize the massage service and I believe it was about 200 Baht plus tip. Those ladies beat us up, but it was worth the experience.
The rooms were spacious, bright and clean! Breakfast was delicious and you could order made to order options, such as omelets and french toast. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!
De Chai The Colonial Hotel was perfect for my stay in Chiang Mai! The location is unbeatable and you can walk to everything, the breakfast in the morning was great with lots of options, everything was clean, and the staff was so helpful! I would definitely stay here again.
Loved this hotel. About 5 minutes outside the center of Chiang Mai. Nicely appointed rooms appointed in lovely dark woods; spacious and immaculately clean. Very quiet at night. Incense burning in the hallways, and a VERY refreshing, small indoor pool. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet isn't the biggest, but order an omelette from the kitchen -- they were quite tasty. Great value for about $60 a night.
Centrally located, clean, modern and wonderful staff! Close to old city, Warorot Market and Night Bazaar. Steps to main road to get tuk tuk or songthaew or they will call a taxi for you. Breakfast is included and they will make a box for you if you have to leave earlier than 6:30 a.m. Comfortable beds and pillows and great family room. Great hotel!
Having arrived in Chiang Mai at 7:30am on the overnight train from Bangkok, we were expecting to drop bags at the hotel and check in later, but our room was ready at no extra charge. Spacious room with supremely comfortable bed...properly great! Buffet breakfast has a reasonable selection with eggs, French toast etc. made to order. Didn't use the pool, but looked OK. Staff super helpful making calls to verify a couple of day trips we'd arranged. The hotel location is super quiet, but still a short walk through small residential streets to the night market. The laundry lady across the road (Rose laundry) is good too!
Recently visited Chiang Mai with my friend and after very careful selection we picked De Chai. Best decision ever, very friendly staff and romantic atmosphere. Great breakfast selection. Awesome location.
Of course we consulted Tripadvisor before booking this hotel in Chiangmai, and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is not large but it is clean and modern with large rooms. The staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. As a first timer to this part of the world having a well appointed hotel to come back to after a long day walking the streets and seeing the sight is a real joy. Well done De Chai and Tripadviser.
