Beautiful hotel and surroundings

Really Great hotel located in the very cosy city, Cherasco. Filled with restaurants and nice little bars plus amazingly friendly local people. Great staf, easy check in process and amazing views from the hotel. Not the best breakfast but that’s typically what you get in Italy. Would definitely go back and stay again!

Weekend away trip with grown up family. Generally very nice but property spa just consists of a steam bath and there were no tissues in the room. Breakfast good but could have been better with more choice of fruit. The bread on Monday morning was not as fresh as the bread on Sunday morning

A hidden gem in Barolo

The hotel is an old monastery, situated at the edge of the old town of Cherasco, a sleepy little town in the Barolo wine region. The building and its surroundings are stunningly beautiful. I had booked a deluxe double room for myself, and was happily surprised when I was upgraded to the "Suite degli Stucchi", a beautiful, roomy suite with original 8th century ceiling decorations. The hotel has a pleasant pool area with a good number of sunbeds and a cabaña. The pool area is an extension of the pleasant bistro's terrace, so there's no need to get up from one's sunbed to order appetizers or a cocktail to be enjoyed in the sun. The food in both the fine dining restaurant upstairs as well as in the bistro is very good and a good value for money. The service is friendly and professional across the property. Laundry service was quick (same day without extra charge) and affordable. There's not much to do in the village itself. There are some cafes, restaurants and gelaterias, but at least in the summer there was not much happening in the evenings. I would recommend this as a base for e.g. visiting Barolo and its wineries, or just taking a couple of days to relax and enjoy the sun, the pool, the good food and the beautiful surroundings.

Touring the Langhe

We stayed for 8 nights and toured about the Langhe. You can get to most places from Cherasco easily. It is a beautiful hotel converted from a monastery. Its beautiful and the staff are so helpful if you need anything. The pool is quiet and relaxing which is great after you have wandered the countryside during the day. Breakfast was very nice in a converted cellar and the ladies who looked after you were very attentive. The room was large with lovely views. The town in which the hotel is situated is lovely with lots of restaurants serving lovely food and all, even the expensive ones, were reasonably priced. we would return.

Beautiful historic building and stellar staff

We stayed here one night while visiting the wine country. Couldn't believe our eyes when we pulled up to such a beautiful dramatic historic building. The courtyard is so beautiful and inside there is a lot of preserved artwork. The staff was so wonderful, especially Ile who was so friendly and helpful! Rooms are spacious. The town of Cherasco is great as well, there is a walking path around the town with incredible views of the wine country below that starts just behind the hotel. Would definitely stay again!

we like Cherasco!

We came to Cherasco while visiting the barolo region and attending the truffle festival. We wanted to try another small hill town, and Cherasco was a great choice - both for the beautiful, well kept town with great restaurants, but also because of the Hotel Somaschi. Great location, rooms, service, and just comfort, would recommend for everyone!

Old Monastery

All is nice, located at the edge of a hill, next to a traditional old village, view to the French, Italian and Swiss Alps. Carpet in rooms is not really fitful for this ancient building. Natural Stone or Wood flooring would be more adequate and preserve the atmosphere with value and style.
