Very racist .. seems priority for whites, rather any Indian. At their restaurant Cilantro, Indians get a diff treatment and foreigners get a diff treatment. worst experience ever. Most of the towels smells bad and AC at restaurant works hardly..
My stay at meridian, Chennai was superb to say the least. A hotel with long history. Still remember the days when I was in college nearby 20 years ago. The rooms are refurbished and modernised. The lobby is humongous and awe inspiring. The food spread is fantastic and tasty. Centrally located and nearby the airport. The spa is fantastic and the swimming pool a real relief in Chennai heat. Worth the stay.
I went to this hotel on 29 to March for a business meeting. The room was awesome and the staff members are cordial and polite. But the quality and the taste of the food was just average. It has to improve a lot. I wish they will do it.
Once upon a time this would have been a top, state of the art hotel. The passing of 20 or 30 years have however taken their toll. On the positive side the location is excellent for the airport (500rupess in a taxi) and if business takes you south of the city it saves loads of time in the mornings and evenings. The staff also appear well trained and very helpful. On the downside the whole hotel reeks of yesteryear. To give some concrete examples that I hope management will address. Room plumbing and fixtures - a number of reviews have noted the dated and sub standard plumbing. My room was no exception. The specific fault was that the bath tub could not be used! Electrics - this is only hotel I have stayed in India that doesn’t have international sockets in the rooms. My room lacked sockets generally but the 2 accessible ones would not take a UK plug. Fitness room and spa are very dated and old fashioned. There’s a lot of competition for hotels in Chennai. This only makes sense if you get a good deal.
It was amazing experience at this place the staff are very cordial and helpful. The hall is very big and natural green park in the back of the hotel make it beautiful. I would like give special thanks to amuthini. A, room attendant for good taking care.
Our Stay was royal and comfortable. Service was very much satisfactory. Food varieties and taste was awesome. Awesome maintenance of rooms, visiting area, restaurants. Worthful visit. Would prefer it to other too.
Hotel is one of the oldest 5 star in Chennai. Property is very old and is maintained well. Staff is very hospitable and take good care of you. Good spa and treatment centre at the hotel. Conference room was average and can be improved. Food provided at the conference was average. The rooms are good and spacious. Worth stay if you can negotiate good rates.
The hotel is very nice, and the staff very friendly. The breakfast is ok, but i was missing also some cheese, maybe they guy which buy all things he don't like. The club lounge in the evening was ok, the guy really friendly. In the morning for breakfast its better to go down. The cleaner gay is sometimes good but sometimes he forgot to fill up water or mini bar snacks. The mini bar to expensive about that the liquor, beer and soft drinks inside to old and a quarter from small bottle going out, nowhere will drink it for this price. By the price from the room you can put some coke and beer for free inside and all is ok. Whisky the guests can order by room service.
