the same story of all china hotels beds are hard to sleep on but at that stage one was so exhausted from lack of sleep that one more night did not make any difference. I was just looking forward to the flight to Hong Kong for good hotels. Breakfast was the normal service but with better service than the normal Chinese hotel. Still no English speaking staff any where except the person on the door.
This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel; the first time was in October 2015. The only problem I had with this stay is I was given a smoking room on a smoking floor and the whole floor reeked of tobacco. I had requested a non smoking room and floor through my tour advisor, apparently no non smoking rooms were available. The staff was quite courteous and helped in arranging transportation and a late checkout at 3 PM due to a flight departing Chengdu in the evening. Western style meals are somewhat limited but what is available was good. The morning breakfast buffet is excellent offering; Asian, American and European type breakfast items. A large shopping center is located across the main street and to the left about 500 meters (1/4 mile) with other food options including: McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and Hagen Daz Ice Cream. I would strongly recommend this hotel to others when staying in Chengdu.
After several nights on hard beds this hotel provided a wonderful nights sleep. Massive room with very comfortable beds.Bathroom was full length of the room with doors at either end.Really nice lobby which smelt wonderful. The room had lots of interesting items to use -all very nicely contained in large wooden boxes.Breakfast was really good with lots of choice.
This hotel has the usual facilities you expect from a 5 star hotel in China. The bathroom was large and the bed was soft. Everything was very clean. The breakfast is fantastic with a great selection of Sichuan dishes, in addition to fruit and baked goods. The homemade yogurt is far and away the standout breakfast dish; it is delicious. However, the in room decor was old fashioned and drab. We requested a non smoking room but the room smelled musty and like cigarettes. I was disappointed that there wasn’t any bath gel or shampoo available apart from a dispenser in the shower - makes it difficult to wash your hair in the bath! Also the bathroom products weren’t refreshed: I’d have liked another bar of soap. At one stage, when I was asking a member of staff for help regarding directions, her colleague said “What’s she asking you for? She should ask reception”. This was all done in Chinese, obviously the staff member in question assumed I wouldn’t understand. I appreciate that sometimes enquiries are best directed to a certain department, but there were better ways to handle that. Also, it is always best to assume that customers can understand what you are saying. Especially as more and more foreigners are learning Chinese. The location of the hotel isn’t great. It’s a 5 minute walk away from a subway which is convenient in some ways, but there is nothing within walking distance. All in all, the price is good and the rooms are fine. It was interesting to learn more about Tibetan culture and art. We are happy to have chosen the Tibet Hotel for our stay in Chengdu but we probably wouldn’t stay there again.
I was on a 16 day holiday with Mercury Holidays and stayed for two nights at the Tibet Hotel in Chengdu, this hotel is modern, comfortable with large twin beds, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, large bathroom with walk in shower and bath, bottled water provided in the room, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Each night your beds would be turned down and curtains closed, breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choices you could even try yak biscuits and milk, staff was very helpful, hotel had excellent housekeeping, enjoyed my stay.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights. Although billed as 5* I found it did not warrant this. The room was large but was not luxurious by any means. The bathroom could be approached from either side of the bedroom containing two doors one at each end. I found the beds too hard and would have liked it to be a bit more comfy. We found the lifts were slow and the breakfast room a long way to get to, along a number of corridors.
Had small snafu with one of our rooms-smelled like someone had smoked in bathroom. We requested a nonsmoking room and they were sold out for the night. Management did try to help accommodate us by having room ionized the next day to get rid of smell. Breakfast buffet was really nice with great assortment of fresh fruit and local dishes.
Staff was very attentive & made you feel welcome. Breakfast area was quiet & nice w/enough choices to keep family of 4 satisfied. Had 2 rooms: 1 queen suite and 2 double beds. The double bed room was huge and we were well pleased. Would stay again. Took off one star because we wanted to get a drink and the hotel didn't have a bar area.
My room did not look like many of their promo pictures. The furniture was shabby and peeling away. The bathroom door was dirty upon arrival. And this was the only one of five hotels we stayed at that put our two teenage children 2 floors away from us overnight.
This is a well appointed Hotel in the Jinniu District of Chengdu. It was a wonderful return to dry land after several nights on the Yangtze River aboard the MS Yangtze II. It was a real authentic Tibetan style Hotel with even a Yak to greet us as well as many other Tibetan hangings paintings vases metal artefacts a veritable treat. Furthermore although time was limited there is a whole raft of wonderful shops which sold amazing items of Tibetan sculpture material wall hangings paintings that sadly were not open at our free time maybe on another visit....this hotel was so welcoming as was the staff. The breakfast area had a long corridor after the lifts again beautifully decorated with Tibetan style vases and paintings and the breakfasts were idyllic continental Chinese Tibetan all styles of cooked and raw breakfast scrumptious. The bedrooms were vast and beautifully decorated with Tibetan style furniture and a huge en suite bathroom shower we had superb Tibetan dream sleep. Also the sweet Tibetan touch of a prayer wheel necklace gifted to us was really so endearing I just simply adored this Hotel and we were not very far from the Tibetan border I would have liked to revisit this wonderful country again.
