Stayed for 2 nights as part of a tour group. The exterior of the hotel is deceptive, quite ordinary looking. Once inside however, we were greeted with a refreshing iced fruit tea and welcomed into the elegant lobby area before being checked into our rooms. All the public areas are tastefully decorated with Tibetan style art pieces and there is a refreshing yet subtle aroma of incense pervading throughout. Our room on the 10th floor was absolutely fabulous with an extremely comfortable huge kingsized bed, comfy armchair with foot stool, drinks cabinet which also held the fridge and a tv that could swivel round to allow you to watch in the bathroom! The bathroom was 1st class with a spacious walk-in power shower, bathtub and plenty of counter space to hold beautifully presented quality complimentary toiletries. Lots of little extra touches such as a complimentary pillow menu, special tea and tea set as well as the usual coffee tea bags, a small gift (Tibetan style neckcharm) left on your turned down bed and thick fluffy robes and slippers made this an outstanding hotel for me. The breakfast room was very well organised and tended, self service with a vast array of choices, everything from fresh fruit to dim sum to omelettes made to order and much much more. Fabulous! The hotel bar has a limited yet fairly priced cocktail menu which we took advantage of whilst relaxing on comfy sofas, listening to the resident pianist entertain us. Couldn't believe the price for a room here! Amazing value for money! Would definitely stay again!
The area: there is a shopping mall a five-minute walk from the hotel, and that means air-conditioning if you need to escape from the heat and humidity of the Chinese summer; besides there are plenty of places to eat in Chinese malls so that is convenient. In addition, there is a restaurant just opposite the hotel - usually full of locals. At the back of the hotel there is an area with lots of construction going on and there are quite a few fruit shops and places to eat - Chinese street food. These places are ok to see but not to eat if you are picky. The hotel: huge lobby and a Tibetan air all over the place. You can change your money at the reception desk. The room: comfortable and spacious with a wide range of details: iron and iron board, nice toiletries ( including soap to wash your clothes), free slippers, excellent quality of the linen, towels and bath robes....even condoms.... Breakfast: three choices: Tibetan, Chinese and western, all of them nicely presented and tasty. The people at the reception desk speak enough English to help you but the people who work at the shop (arts and crafts shop with lovely stuff) do not - in the shop, as is the case in most places in China, you either pay in cash or with the app in your phone, no credit cards accepted.
This Hotel was fantastic, very clean, and staff couldn't do enough for us. And Chengdu was a lovely city.As you walk into the hotel the doorman opens the doors for you, and there is a pleasant smell of incense as you walk into the hotel.Cannot fault this hotel it was great. The breakfast was plentiful and very varied, you could have Chinese food or western cooked breakfast, they catered for all tastes.
On our visit to Chengdu, on our trip booked with China Highlights we stayed at the Tibet Hotel, which was an outstanding hotel for the price. Out two nights were very comfortable and the staff, always very helpful. The breakfast was a little crowded but this could be expected as we visited in the Chinese holiday period. The hotel is well located with a short walk to a vibrant area at night where we could enjoy interaction with residents of Chengdu. We would highly recommend anybody to chose this hotel when staying in Chengdu.
We ended up at this hotel as part of a tour package and were very pleased with it. The rooms were quite nice, definitely ok as a business hotel not just for tourists. Free wifi, bottled water in the rooms, quiet. The morning breakfast buffet (included with our room) was phenomenal-- a mix of Chinese, Tibetan, and Western cuisine. The hotel was close to a subway stop and there are a lot of taxis in Chengdu so we had no problems getting around.
We stayed two nights as part of a tour. It is definitely an interesting building that appears to cater to tour groups. There is an interesting local hot pot restaurant across the street. Shopping nearby. Breakfast buffet had limited Western choices but was vast. My room smelled badly of smoke which is a common problem in china. My friend's room did not. I would stay here again.
Lovely hotel with a very interesting Tibetan touch. Spacious rooms and great food, and friendly staff. In case you want to change money at the reception, make sure the numbers of all your banknotes are written on the receipt, in order to avoid misunderstandings!
After having stayed in hotels in 8 cities in China, I can safely say that Tibet Hotel offered us our most memorable stay. Things that stood out: 1. The lovely scent of incense in the lobby and the corridors, instead of the usual smell of stale cigarette smoke or food that we encountered in some places 2. The tastefully decorated rooms and common spaces. Notice the Tibetan rugs lining the corridors! 3. The service - room cleaning twice a day, therapeutic pillows of various kinds on request (free of charge), an unusually friendly and helpful reception desk. Compared to the sullen, cold, uncommunicative staff everywhere else, the staff here seemed from a different planet. 4. The food - truly excellent buffet spread. We also had dinner in their restaurant twice, and both meals were great. Couldn't recommend it more strongly!
Friendly staff as most of Nepalies. Comfortable rooms, restaurant always opened and gladly serving dishes even at odd hours. Fir a charge they can pick you up from the airport ( very recomendable your first time in this lovely but ultra chaotic city) it is not in the mere downtown ( Thamel and Durbar district) but this is an ADVANTAGE ahead of crazy movement. You have Bodnath Stuppa 10 walking distance, with the attraction itself plus restaurants and souvenir stores in a convenient well illuminated environment even for the night) Definetly I would come back
