If you fly to Prince Rupert, know that you will be visiting a part of British Columbia with over 10,000 years of history. Before the European settlers found their way to this gorgeous island, an aboriginal tribe of Tsimshian people lived there for thousands of years. The history of this magnificent place and its people is preserved in the Museum of Northern British Columbia as well as The Prince Rupert Archives.
Catch a ride in a seaplane to take in coastal views or check out several of the parks available for visitors. Roosevelt Park, which is a World War II memorial built in Prince Rupert's downtown area, is just one of many options. You should also explore the Cow Bay Shopping District, a waterfront filled with boutiques, restaurants and its own unique history. Not far from there is the Kwinitsa Railway Station Museum where guests can find out about Canada's Northern Railway as well as the early days of Prince Rupert/Digby's Island itself.
Once you arrive at Prince Rupert Airport (YPR) - which is only five miles from downtown you can take an airport bus or ferry to get to the city center. Once there, you have your pick of comfortable inns and hotels to choose from.
