The Airports of Milan, Italy

Three international airports serve Milan. The Malpensa International Airport is the busiest airport in Milan, and it is located approximately 30 miles northwest of the city, at 21010 Ferno Varese. The Linate Airport, located at 20090 Milan Linate, is only 5 miles east of the city center. However, most flights from Linate Airport are short-haul or domestic flights. The third airport, Orio al Serio Airport, is located approximately 28 miles from Milan and only 3 miles from Bergamo.

Traveling From the Airport

Malpensa International Airport has trains, buses, and taxis available to help you reach your destination. Travel times by train to the city range from 29 to 43 minutes, depending on your final destination. You�ll need to plan on approximately 45 to travel by coach bus, but tickets are a budget-friendly 10.00� each way. Taxi stands are located at Terminal 1 if you want to avoid public transportation. The other two airports have bus, taxi, and train travel options as well. Linate Airport buses can take you to the city center in approximately 25. Taxis are also available in front of the Linate Airport terminal. Orio al Serio Airport bus tickets cost 10.00� each way to Milan. In order to travel by train to Orio al Serio, you should take a 10-minute ride to Bergamo and then take a connecting train to Milan.

Milan Weather

Milan is a year-round tourist destination. The best time to visit is from April to May or from late September to October. During these times, the average high temperatures are between 60 to 70�F and crowds are also smaller. However, if you�re from a warmer climate, you may prefer to visit in the summer while the temperature high is an average of 80�F. Evening average temperatures in the summer are in the low 60s, so don�t forget to bring a light jacket if you�re visiting then. Average low winter temperatures are 25�F, and the average high is 40�F. However, the temperatures are still mild enough for visitors who plan ahead and bring a warm winter coat.

Enjoying Milan

June through early September is the peak tourist season in Milan. If you�d like to visit during this time, you may want schedule your trip to coincide with the Milano Food Week in June or the Milano Film Festival in September. The Men�s Milan Fashion Week, which occurs once in June and once in January, is a popular event in the city. The women�s fashion weeks are in February and April and also bring thousands of visitors to Milan. November through March is considered the true off-season in Milan. Although there are fashion-week visitors during these months, many hotels close for several weeks in the winter.
