Hampton Inn Charleston - Daniel Island

The fact that Daniel Island only has the Hampton Inn, leads to apathy on the part of the hotel. I am a Hampton Inn fan and use them often.... I guess I expected more of this particular location, due to its location. my wife and I had a pleasurable stay, but it could have been better..... Upon arrival, our bathroom had some sticky residue all over the floor and the sheets on the bed did not fit properly. when I mentioned it to the front desk staff, the director of the cleaning staff was present.... instead of assuring me they would take care of these issues and even apologize, he wanted to present excuses. "sometimes the cleaning products used leave a residue and sometimes the sheets are tight because of our big mattresses..." also the TV cable reception was horrible.... constant interruptions....

Very nice suite and excellent price for the money.

Went to the O.A.R concert. Hotel is perfect and has a shuttle to take you to the concert and will pick you up too.

The Hampton Inn on Daniel Island is very clean, very nicely appointed and in a great location. Having the Islander Restaurant right next to the hotel was a big plus. Nice Low Country feel to this place. A little pricey but I guess compared to the rest of Charleston which has gone crazy high in the past few years, not too bad. I'll be back for sure!

As a New Yorker, the word "Hampton" invokes a sense of luxury, but I can't say that this hotel lived up to its name. The only hotel on Daniel Island, they have quite a monopoly on soccer and tennis enthusiasts without cars. First the positives: The staff was extremely friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, the free WiFi worked well, and there was free breakfast. Now the negatives... Upon walking into the lobby my first thought was "Where's the lobby?" The area was under construction and there was not a single seat available inside. There were a few annoyances in my room as well. The closet and bathroom were adjacent to each other with a sliding door that meant either the bathroom was closed or the closet was. The view from my 2nd floor window was of a large platform gathering random trash, and the heavier curtains couldn't be closed more than 4 feet from each other, leaving me to MacGyver them closed with hanger clips. And the in-room coffee maker was unplugged on a sliding shelf that didn't even have an outlet near it (makes no sense!). Finally, when booking the hotel it didn't say anywhere on the page that an Airport and Downtown Charleston shuttle van was available, meaning I paid for a cab from the airport for no reason. Luckily I inquired when I saw the van outside and didn't have to take a cab on my return. Hopefully another hotel opens up on Daniel Island to give them some healthy competition. I would recommend staying downtown if you're visiting Charleston and not just there for a soccer or tennis match.

The room was very nice and clean. A/C worked properly and it was silent. Breakfast OO, nothing special, it was fresh and the idea to make your own waffle was great.

We were visiting family on Daniel Island and chose this hotel for that reason only. It is really geared to business travelers. Few amenities - no restaurant, no bar, no indoor pool. Really needed to rent a car if you are using this hotel. There were two pluses: the staff was very friendly and the free breakfast offssets the overpriced rate. Would not stay there again. We have stayed at much nicer facilities within a short distance of Daniel Island. Should also note that when our flight was canceled, hotel would not offer us same rate as what we had paid the prior 6 nights - and only offered to match cheaper rate when we told them of the rate. Refused to pay the new rate and found much better accomodation (restaurant, bar, water front) for $40 less per night.

We were on Daniel Island for a wedding, and this hotel is the most convenient public lodging to DI. I'm a frequent Hampton Inn guest in the US, and I am familiar with this particular location since it was opened. It is now just getting old enough that it needs a renovation...not bad, and not yet seriously in need of a re-do, but it is ready. The only thing that is holding it at a $150-$200/night instead of $99 is the lack of competition that close to the businesses on the island.

Timely check in, treadmills in good condition, great location to get to Family Circle Tennis Club. Very courteous staff.

We were there for christmas eve and christmas night. Everyone was so lovely, even when the toilet overflowed. Thanks.

Everything was fine, clean, quiet. The cleaning staff kept knocking on my door even though I had until 11 or 12 to check out. Annoying.

My husband and I went Charleston,Sc to tour the historical area. We enjoyed staying at Daniel Island because the location was only minutes from downtown and the shopping centers.

At the last minute, my travel plans changed and I had to cancel the morning that I was to arrive. I understand a charge for cancelling so late, but they billed me for an entire night.

Very good! We were within walking distance to the Family Circle Cup. Rooms were quite and clean. The staff was very helpful..good info on local restaurants. I'll be back next year. Need a little more room in the dining room for breakfast but other than that everything was good.
