Villa Mater Hotel2.0 out of 5.0

Six cyclists stayed here a couple of nights while exploring the area. We found it welcoming and the staff helpful. The breakfasts were continental and filling, with nothing lacking. The hotel is in a neighborhood away from the old city center, but has a bus stop a few paces from the driveway. Bikes can be stored in the garage, which while closed to view, is not 100% secure,
Nice and quiet place, a low cost location but has everything it needs. The staff from the reception and dinning room was very helpfull. If necessary you can request extra food at breakfast, if by any chance by the time you arrived they ran out of. It is a budget location, not very far from the center, from here you can get bus 536 or 744, the station bus from Villa Mater is called Pietr dell' Ova.
The quality of servicies and staff are way above two stars.I'm so glad i picked this place to stay during our Sicily vacation. It so nice and clean and the staff so helpful.I can't wait for the next trip to Catania...we'll stay here,of course.
We like Villa Mater because it's not far from Catania centre the location is quite ,staff very friendly ,private parking and breakfast room are great .It is our second time in this hotel and sure not the last.
24 hr reception, free parking & wifi, very good breakfast prepared freshly daily, & the room was modern and well cleaned, few minutes from restaurants, though we used our car to move to the center and shopping.
The staff were friendly. Room is basic but sufficient. Air conditioning in the room felt like it was barely working. Breakfast was fine. Location is very poor..about a 40min walk to town centre. Noisy people staying there but that's outside of the hotels control. It's like a nice hostel more so than a hotel.
Basic room but spacious for 2adults and 2children. Good location if you want to visit Mount Etna and Taormina. Breakfast was good, consisting of bread and a choice of hot beverages and cereals and juice, even yoghurt and fruit! We could also order take away pizza and get room service! Will definitely go again.
Just been to this hotel and we were very satisfied. Rooms were clean.breakfast was good. Always found a parking space for our cars.I would recommend this hotel even for the view itself because one can see the mount Etna. One thing that was a bit strange was the hand basin because it was in the shower but overall I would go again and thanks to Roberto the receptionist cos he was very friendly and helpful
Firstly I would like to say if there was a separate rating for the staff, they would get 5 stars! The hotel was fine for the price but you need a car as the hotel is located in a residential area with very little nearby within walking distance. Failing that you need to be confident to use the buses, as there is a bus stop conveniently located just outside. The buses are cheap (1 euro for 90 minutes) but she can wait anything from 5 - 45 minutes. Taxis are very expensive. Breakfast was continental with enough choice to please most tastes and good coffee. Having said all that, the staff were so helpful at the hotel, very patient with all my questions regarding the local area and made every effort to assist me. There is a restaurant nearby who will collect and return you as part of the service, through the hotel reception. As a solo traveller the restaurant was a bit quiet for me but would be perfect for couples and groups and the food was excellent.
Clean and tidy hotel. Fantastic staff, good location, great views of Mount Etna. A slight issue is that there is no bar or restaurant on site...however they have links with local restaurant, and the hotel will arrange for you and your family to be collected and dropped back at the hotel after a very pleasant dining experience.
