Stayed for just a night but it could have been like i was there full time. Checkin was so easy and an 800 year old Inn was mine for the night. Staff could not have been better suited to an Inn like this. The food from the excellent and huge starters of ribs to my perfect steaks, and in the morning an Ulster fry !!!( not for the faint hearted lol) There was a tiny issue with some rowdy guests that evening, however once again the night staff sorted it out very professionally. Yes I will be staying again, and for just 12 miles or so into Belfast or great access to the Motorway network perfect. See you soon Spencer
We have stayed in dobbins several times now, love the old world charm of the building and history that comes with it, including Maud the ghost and her lover Buttoncap! The food in hotel is excellent with special steak deal offers per couple inc bottle of wine. The cooked breakfast made to order is also very good. The staff are friendly and you are made to feel very welcome, we will be back.
We have been in a few times recently for the steak special. This is a great offer, two steaks with all the trimming, a bottle of wine and starters all for only £30, I can honestly say the steaks have been amazing, the restaurant has been busy each time, it's also a friendly place to dine in
Utterly delightful meal. We had the 2 person steak special which was cooked to perfection (medium) along with garlic bites and salad with coleslaw. The red wine was very warmly received and complimented the steak really well.
The Dobbins Inn is a lovely spot to stay in Carrickfergus. It is just a block from the harbor and the best Anglo-Norman Castle in Northern Ireland. The rooms are quiet and comfortable - breakfast is included - and the dining room has a nice menu with good food at a fair price. We enjoyed everything about it.
Stayed three nights, clean comfortable room but the best bit was how welcome we were made to feel by all the staff. Ate in the bar each night, delicious food, breakfast great too. Ideal location for visiting Belfast and beautiful surrounding area. Highly recommended, would use again
Cannot find a fault with this place. Friendly staff that can't do enough for you. Food and service very good the breakfast is huge wont go away hungry from here! Beds very comfortable and room spotless. We will definitely return.
I went out for tea with my daughter and we ordered the 2 x 10 oz rib eye steak special. When the steaks came out they were pitiful! Nowhere near 10 oz and when I complained to management the lady said that they were pre-cut by the butcher and she had no idea about size or weight! This from the lady who runs the place and who knows the industry. Anyway, the chef cut two new steaks - I'm not sure what happened to the butcher! To round it off was ill all night afterwards. The waiter and waitress were great but this was a truly poor experience! I have eaten here many times and this experience makes me wonder if I'll ever go back.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located close to the station but there is no parking on site. The place is a bit dated and tired and the rooms rather small. The bathroom was old fashioned with a cramped shower and one had to wait long for the hot water to feed through. The beds were a bit lumpy! The evening food was good but served in a bar with a loud TV blaring away that no-one was watching. Breakfasts were served in a rather gloomy room and were OK but nothing special. The loud rock music played over speaker first thing in the morning seemed incongruous.
We stayed for 2 nights, eating in the bar on the first evening. The room was fine - a decent size with a comfortable bed. The bathroom also was a decent size and very clean. We took advantage of the steak offer which was very reasonable: the meal itself was fine - no complaints. A reasonably priced hotel which met expectations.
