The older woman @ check-in was not receptive to reservation for Sea view. When I agreed to pay extra & given room keycard-it did not work. Returned to lobby for assistance & I was able to then get into the room. The septic odor coming from the bathroom was very strong - when I called the woman at reception she said that she had no complaints about the room before and rather than going to a Third room-I decided to just close the bathroom door and just open a window. When I called down to reception(again) for the Wi-Fi password was given the wrong password. I was able to find the manager and when I told him the password he laughed, he said that's not the password & informed me of the correct password. Overall, for the money value in the strong septic smell as well as the lack of help from the reception woman I would NOT recommend this hotel. The money paid for the view and the order is certainly not worth it! The one shining light was the American concierge who helped me out greatly and was very pleasant!
Classical hotel on a nice location. Lack of warmness, nothing special except the location, but expensive for what is offered. View on a beautiful beach. Not too much to say about it. Nothing re;arquable.
This was again a business trip and I stayed on 16th May. As always the welcome was warm and friendly. The evening meal was superb. I started with chicken pate following by a superb chicken breast stuffed with white pudding. The food was wonderfully presented and despite there being two tour groups in the service was excellent. The evening of 16th was sunny and warm so a stroll around the beautiful garden finished off the day. The highlight for me is always the breakfast, sourced from local providers it is the perfect start to the day. But if you don't want a full cooked breakfast there is a first class continental alternative and the some excellent granola and muesli. I must do what i said after my previous visit and that is to come for a holiday and not just flying business visit.
We had two nights in the Ballygally castle. We had a very last minute booking for a good price. Sometimes that leads to a small room in the back and less service. However in Ballygally we got a beautiful room, the staff was very friendly and did everything to make the stay for my daugther and me a great experience.
A good, comfortable hotel with friendly staff. If you want to explore the Antrim coast - the coast road, Giant's Causeway, Carick-a-Rede rope bridge, Game of Thrones settings, etc. - then the Ballygalley Castle Hotel makes an ideal base.
Myself and two colleagues stayed here whilst working nearby. I was there for 5 nights. The rooms are beautiful, I was the only one not to get a sea view though! Everything needed was in the room and it was so nice to actually have some lovely body lotions/shampoo etc. The bed was so comfy but I did find the thick down duvet a bit too hot which was a shame. The brekfast was good, we were down first thing at 7am every morning and were usually the only ones in there! Lots of choice, breads, ham and cheese, porridge, yoghurt and all the usual hot food you would expect as well. There was only scrambled egg there however I understand you can ask for poached or fried if need be. There was even a bottle of whisky to pour on to your porridge!! Safe to say we didn't test this combination out!! The food in the evenings was also really good, especially the pate which we all ordered pretty much every day. I wish I could have taken some home with me. There wasn't a huge amount of choice on the menu we had but there was enough to last us the week. The staff were all absolutely lovely and very helpful. The only problem we had was that this hotel is home to an overnight tour and all at once the restaurant will be filled with 50 very noisy people. I highly recommended finding out what time they are eating and make sure you pick a different time. The waitresses moved us down to the lower half of the restaurant out of the way on a couple of evenings when there was space. All in all, a lovely stay, I would come here for holidaying as well as business. No doubt I will be back again soon!
On our special kid-free vacation we decided to splurge on a nice place. This castle was a fun one. Very lovely, but simple. Beautiful furniture, great little beach across the road. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was large. Breakfast was delicious, but pricey (for only 10 Euro the continental breakfast is perfectly fine -- we didn't realize it was more for the hot buffet.) Overall, a great place and convenient to Belfast and to the Antrim coast.
Friendly staff, beautiful surroundings with lots of history. Kids loved the ghost room and the history of the castle. Food was excellent and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. There was a wedding at the hotel when we stayed yet that did not deflect from the attention we received. Thoroughly recommend and can't wait to return!
Just had a 2 night break at this lovely hotel. Beautiful deluxe room. Food lovely. Staff very friendly. Lovely gardens. Pay a wee visit to the Ghost Room. Would definitely recommend the hotel. It is a good base for visiting great local attractions.
My husband and I spent our anniversary in this beautiful historic hotel. Our room was beautiful with breathtaking views overlooking the beach. The food was excellent both in the evening and breakfast. Staff where very attentive and helpful. Looking forward to returning.
