Best Western Plus Carpinteria Inn
4/5 Good
"Very convenient location and surprisingly quiet [at least in our room], considering the proximity to the freeway and the abundance of young children present on the property. Our room was pleasant and our request for third floor room with beamed ceiling was accommodated. The sliding door on our balcony would not latch, but we felt safe enough with the chain lock engaged. Our room was not ready at 3:00 PM check-in. We were told it would be about 30-40 minutes and we would receive a call when ready. An hour passed and I went to check on the room--I'd already been given our keys--and the room was ready and waiting for us, no housekeeping in sight, with no call having been made. That was disappointing. Plentiful free parking. The "gym" is serviceable, if you know what you're doing, though a bit smelly. The pool is very small and was filled with boisterous children, with supervising adults blasting music. The jacuzzi was difficult to find and tiny. Neither the pool nor the jacuzzi were appealing due to the crowded and loud environments. Not a big deal, as I thought back on my own childhood family vacations. Let the kids enjoy. Just don't expect a peaceful respite in either facility. As a place to sleep for a night for a "staycation", the hotel is perfectly fine. It's dated and could use a refreshing, but I could stay here again, for the right price."
