Hotel pleasant, drinks and food in hotel very reasonable. Hotel room excellent, newly furnished. Very comfy beds and lovely facilities. Hotel about a 15 minute walk to the city centre and parking is great at only £6 a night. Breakfast room is small and not a huge selection, but what is available is fresh and nice. No fried eggs, hash browns, tomatoes or mushrooms and no flavoured yoghurts. Staff friendly. Hotel great value for money
On arrival the receptionist was welcoming and friendly, the hotel lobby is open plan and had a relaxed feel about it. The location is great - easy to get to by car and within a short walk to Mermaid Quays. As a hotel chain you know what to expect - the room was good, the shower room was quite big actually and the beds are comfy. The gem that makes this hotel stand out from the rest was the staff - well done whoever put that team together. I didn't get her name, but the young lady on Reception when I arrived and again the following morning when I checked out is a credit to this hotel.
Stayed here because we were going to see Shrek the musical at the Wales millennium centre. It is within walking distance to the bay. Has a car park which I thin was £6 to pay. They were having work done so there was an awful out of workmen and their vehicles in the car park so was a little tight for parking when we did first arrive, however when they left around 4.30-5pm you could park properly. The hotel didn’t have a lift in use at the time due to work. But the staff were very welcoming the room was spacious for our family had tea and coffee facilities also had an iron and board ready in room. The breakfast the following morning was faultless a buffet style with coffee/tea machines just help yourself. The staff replenished any food that was almost gone. Downside was that when you went down for brekkie you were met by contractors having a coffee/meeting. But like I say that was at our time we stayed and due to upgrading of the hotel. Overall for the price I paid the area in which it is situated I give it a big thumbs up. And would definitely recommend.
Very similar to other Holiday inn Express hotel but a great location, try and get a room overlooking the dock. Refurb going on so no lift but rooms great, bathrooms really nice, Breakfast included, standard fare, nothing too exciting but does the job. Management and staff were all friendly, informative and apologetic about works going on, which didn’t cause an issue
Stayed here for one night as we had tickets for a show at the Millennium centre. The location was perfect for this, just 10 minute walk to the Bay area where there were plenty of bars and restaurants to chose from. We hadn't booked directly with the hotel and so were not aware of the refurbishment going on. On check in we were told the lift was currently out of order but should be working within the hour (it still wasn't working by the time we checked out) and that the nearest corridor was out of bounds as a new carpet was being fitted so we had a bit of a drawn out walk to our room but wasn't too bad as we were only on the first floor thankfully. The rooms are brand new and have everything you would need for a brief stay, although our air conditioning didn't seem to be working. Beds are incredibly comfy and other then the extra walking the building work didn't have any other effect on us. Breakfast is basic but does the trick, there's only a small area for this so not sure how busy it would get at the weekend but was fine for a Wednesday morning. Overall a very pleasant stay and served a purpose for what we needed it for.
This is a nothing special, no frills type of hotel, but charges a huge £178 for a Saturday night stay. Unfortunately it was booked for me by somebody else, otherwise I would have found somewhere different. As other reviewers have said, there is a further charge of £6 for parking and the lift was broken when we were there.
We were very pleased with our 3 night stay. The location is a 15 minute walk from Central Cardiff, or a short drive. Parking is available at the hotel however costs £6 per day. The accommodation is in the final stages of a refurbishment, and our refurbished room had a nice contemporary feel. Staff were very friendly, and the complimentary breakfast very good, so overall very satisfied.
Broken lift. Two flights of stairs. Double bed very small. No drawers in the room. We booked it because it included breakfast. Yuck! Next time the travel lodge. The staff were 5 star brilliant. The lift and breakfast choices were not their fault. Very clean.
We have just arrived back from staying at this holiday inn express Cardiff after meeting family & friends . Well the setting next to the water was lovey but noticed as soon as we got in the reception work men and noise 9-5 . Upgrading the place , no lift at all in working order . The reception staff did ask if we needed help up as we were on the top floor . Very comfortable beds lovey room , cold wen we got the keys to the room and as soon as we got in heating went on .,very clean and comfortable though. Breakfast was so nice everything you could ask for they provided for breakfast- great base to visit family friends and Cardiff town .
Have stayed here whilst visiting Cardiff many times and have always enjoyed. This time we booked for one night and were not notified that the place is being refribished, which I will say is good and the rooms that are done are lovely, however, you are woken early by drilling, sawing, hammering etc., so not as peaceful and tranquil stay as we have had previously. Disappointed that the hotel could not have advised us of this. It also seemed like our bad luck that they were working directly below our room! Beware of this if you are staying soon.
