Stayed here for 4 nights with a colleague. Awesome clean rooms and best breakfast selection. Tv could do with extra channels and the Wifi trips at times, however despite that nd the load music from the bars in the street, it was a pretty good stay. The ear plugs do help a lot.
The room was great, the staff were awesome, super friendly. Only issue I had was that there is no sound proofing, so the music and the parties that happen elsewhere REALLY intrude into the room. At 3AM this eventually died down ... Really good value for money, but dont forget to take your sleeping tablets with.
From the moment I arrived I was made feel so welcome by every single member of staff. I stayed for two weeks, extending my stay because I loved it so much. My room was lovely with a view of Table Mountain and Long street. Great location, and yes it was noisy in the evening but the vibe was awesome, edgy and cool. I ate at some great places walking distance from the hotel and felt pretty safe given that I am a woman traveling alone. The breakfast was generous and the coffee good. My room was spotless with a lovely bath that also had a view of Table Mountain and although it was really cold outside I was always cozy and warm. My only suggestion is that the reading light switch should be beside the bed. I would go back here in a heartbeat. Fantastic stay!
I'm from America and I just got married while on my stay here with my South African husband. I've been to plenty of tourist attractions by now and this spot in particular is now one of my most favorite memories. The staff was very well mannered, friendly & helpful. Our room was very comfortable & the view was spectacular. I spent most of my night people watching and really taking in the culture from a different viewpoint, rather than doing it on the ground in it myself. It was loud at night, but what do you expect for staying at a hotel on Long street?? It's filled with clubs, so of course it's going to be loud; I wasn't bothered by the noise at all. It's a very great spot if you're into that kind of stuff like I am. We stayed up to watch the sun rise on Table Mountain and it was so breath taking, and I'm very thankful I could do so from the comfort of the bed! The breakfast room was very open & inviting and the staff was refreshing and on top of their work. The food was just the thing I needed as well! Very tasty & a nice selection of foods & drinks. No complaints from this bride!!! Thank you so much for the comfortable stay! P.S. there is a great selection of recommended restaurants to visit & I was not disappointed with our choice off of the list!
The Urban chic hotel is in a great location if you are into going to bed at 4am. The room we stayed in had a nice view of table mountain but the noise level at night is just crazy, you cannot sleep. The guy at the front desk was rude and unfriendly. The breakfast was poor and we were served dirty cups for our tea and the cups stank of fish. The breakfast staff were also unfriendly, unhappy and they were all standing at the back of the desk on their phones with earphones in the ears. The room was clean and nice expect for the hair that was still lying in the drain of the shower making it difficult for the water to Go down which resulted in flooding the floor. When I called the bookings department to ask if I could change the number of guests and how the process works, she was extremely rude and unhelpful. I will definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The Urban Chic Boutique is situated in the "SOCIAL HUB" of a busy street called Long Street. Its pretty central to almost everything you wish to do on foot. It is surounded by lots of clubs, Back packers and Restuarant. It faces a popoular tourist destination that serves a traditional African cusine and a variet of wild meats on offer, from crokodile to almost all antelopes one can wish for. The place is called MAMA AFRICA.!! Do pay the a visit. Don't forget to book in time. The rooms at the Urban Chic are clean very modern and a good priced compared to the nearby Hotels. The street below is a never ending mardigrass of people walking up and down revelling yet when you close the windows it seems to filter most of the street noise at times. The downfall is parking if you have a car, however the hotel does arrange for parking next door but please do arrange that in good time as a hefty fine awaits you should you fail to do so. No lunch and dinner is served here, probable due to all the nearby restuarants at ones disposal. Do pay the a visit and enjoy the complimentary cake served at the reception bar if you are in confectionary! Good-luck and bottoms Up!
Stayed on the top floor, but it didn't help. The noise is relentless through out the night. No sleep until the music stopped sometime the following morning, did I say music ? more boom ! boom ! boom ! The ear plugs didn't help, they need double, double glazing. Basic room, hard bed, no drinking water provided, had to buy that at expensive hotel price. Central, clean, parking and reasonable breakfast, but thankfully only one first night stay, just what you want after a long flight. Cannot recommend and would never stay there again. OK if you don't need to sleep.
The staff was friendly, the room clean but to sleep is impossible. Next door to the Hotel is a night club that operates until 4am. We chose the Urban Chick Boutique Hotel due to the location as it is close to UCT for the start and finish of the Two Oceans marathon. Due to the extremely loud music and shouting of people we had no sleep for the two nights that we stayed there. On enquiry from reception about the noise I was informed to come down to reception for ear plugs. That confirmed that previous guests had the same complaints. We were also unable to attend breakfast the two mornings and requested a breakfast pack, I can not recommend this as the quality of the food was not good. As we left the Hotel at 4am the party club was open and the music pumping I can really not recommend this Hotel unless you want to be out for clubing
Room was neat and very comfortable. It is noisy due to the clubs and pubs, but definitely suited to those who enjoy being out and having late nights. Lots of choice regarding food/restaurants, bars and clubs. Very vibey area.
I loved every minute of my stay at Urban Chic. Yes there is noise as mentioned in other reviews but I had read up before booking so knew where I was booking so it didn't really bother me. The hotel offers earplugs but I didn't need them. The staff were amazing, booked me on several tours, booked me Table Mountain and Robben Island tickets and nothing I needed was too much effort. They always smiled and were friendly. Breakfast was delicious with quite a wide variety to choose from; all a la carte. I especially enjoyed the free cake and coffee! I would definitely recommend!
