Whilst everything about the hotel is satisfactory, we would not return. The location is its best feature, as it is very close to the waterfront area and tourism. Our room was directly above the driveway and we were disturbed by the noise of vehicles entering and going over some sort of grate every night (we stayed 3 nights). It is also a very busy street with foot traffic and links the two districts of the waterfront, so we were disturbed by people continuously. The room was tiny, not even enough room to open 2 suitcases. the bathroom was similar, with a shower over bath, which was extremely slippery. The room certainly did not match any of the photos or impressions we had been given - including the slide show running behind the reception desk. We must have been at the beginning of the service path as we were woken at 8 each day by housekeeping wanting to service our room, and the turn down service arrived between 5:30 and 6 each evening, as we were preparing to go out. They were not too happy when we asked them to return each time. We utilised the laundry service, which was efficient, but extremely expensive when we got the bill. Every item has a tiny paper tag with two plastic double ended tags holding them on - very difficult to remove without scissors and irritating if you don't realise and remove before donning the garment. Breakfast was a good feature, with a good selection and coffee was offered promptly. We had to leave early on the last morning and they did reluctantly agree to allow us to eat before leaving - slightly earlier than normal opening on a Sunday. Considering the numerous options of accommodation in the area we would not return to this hotel.
For all the other reasons reviews mentioned, this is a quality hotel. Good service. Good complimentary breakfast. Good location. What is really lacking is the quality of the rooms. Our initial standard room was super small. We upgraded to a larger suite and this is still not a good room. The bed is not comfortable — still only a full size. The bathroom is only separated by a curtain. Some minor plumbing issues. If the rooms were better I’d return. But since they are not I have to give the hotel 3 stars.
Stayed 3 nights here, ate in once, breakfast good. Ideal location for our needs for a conference, had little time to sightsee but have been in Capetown a lot so not a problem. The reception, room service, taxi organiser and porters were always at hand. It was good value for the money, I've stayed at several hotels locally, one very expensive which I felt was cold and austere. If you are not planning to stay in your room much, this is the one for you.
The hotel staff are excellent. The rooms comfortable, well maintained. Some have been recently upgraded with interesting results. The hotel location and staff make it an excellent choice if staying in Cape Town.
Although it is not an exceptional hotel the breakfast is very nice and so are the rooms. What is more important is the location as it is located right on the waterfront. We were a group of motorcycles and enjoyed it very much.
This hotel is lovely... the personnel aim to please and the location is perfect.... it is across the street from the V & A Waterfront... which has great restaurants and stores...and is a great location to while away an evening...I also enjoyed their turn down service with the greatest chocolate !
I stayed here for a couple of nights. I love the luxurious maritime feel that the hotel has. The staff are very friendly, and helpful. Breakfast is great, and they have a well stocked bar. Located next to the Waterfront makes it very convenient when you want to go out for dinner. There is a nice courtyard with a pool. I enjoyed the courtyard, but if you are vacationing and want a decent size pool, then I might try elsewhere. The only bad thing I have to say is that the aircon is very loud - and I needed to run the aircon to keep the room cool.
This is a very friendly, welcoming hotel 10 min walk to the center of the V&A. Take the stairs (50) or the lift and turn left - you're on the outskirts of V&A. Take a right and you're a 3 minute walk to hop on hop off bus. It's a really good deal.we prefer staying away from the hustle bustle of the center so this hotel was ideal for us. They have improved there internet because we didn't have any problems in our room or lounge area. Breakfast is plentiful. Staff was really delightful - always made you feel welcomed.
The location was excellent, few steps from V&A waterfront. Breakfast was very enjoyable with a good variety . The rooms were clean and the service was fast whenever I asked for anything. A bit pricy but enjoyed my stay. Definitely recommended.
I stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it, except that the wifi was dreadful. I chose to stay here again on a September visit, because I enjoyed the hotel itself and the location so much, and warned all my colleagues at home that I would have a hard time keeping in touch by email since I couldn't count on wifi. Imagine my surprise and delight when all the good aspects of the hotel from my first visit - comfortable bed, great location, friendly, pleasant and helpful service, wonderful breakfasts - were still there AND the wifi was rock-solid. Really glad the hotel management has improved this as now there is no downside to this hotel at all. Strongly recommend!
