Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch

We recently spent another fabulous weekend at this excellent hotel. This time, we invited our two daughters and grandson to join us and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay. They now know why we keep on coming back for more and why we have spent over 70 nights at this hotel. Like us, they could not take in enough of the beautiful surroundings and the view of the mountains. They could not speak more highly of the staff who really pampered them.  So, our grateful thanks to all of them. Our one regret..... we could not stay longer! Needless to say, PH Stellenbosch comes highly recommended.

We spent two nights here while visiting the Cape winelands area. It is out at the Techno Park so you can't walk into to town or to any other restaurants other than those at the hotel and arriving in the morning or leaving in the afternoon is difficult due to the Techno Park commuters but it is in such a lovely setting. We had a one bedroom flat on the second floor with views out across the valley which presented us with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The main dining room was pricey but their casual restaurant had more reasonable prices and the food was decent. So as long as you are not wanting to walk around town, this is a nice place to stay.

I really enjoyed my say here. I found all the staff to be very helpful. The room was spacious and spotless. The food in the restaurant was of a good quality and cooked to order. I would stay here again.

First night we stayed in F01 - everything worked perfectly. Very clean. Aircon fantastic. Lovely view. Beds and linen good. Two nights in S03 - not so much. Didn't feel as clean or as "new" as F01.Quite noisy being near the pool. Bed and linen not great. Staff all lovely though and attentive to the few issues we had. Overall though a great place to stay and explore from and the breakfasts were fantastic. Lots of variety. Just a pity about the smokers who get the view outside.....

The rooms are large, with separate bedroom, seated area & small kitchenette, if you want to self cater on a couple of nights. My room looked over a vineyard & beyond to the golf course, with the mountains in the background. Good location, but out of town I like this place.

We only stayed here for one night but it surpassed our expectations. The hotel was clean and tidy and had two restaurants with great food. The room was large and very comfortable. The best thing about this hotel though was the staff, all of whom were very friendly and bent over backwards to help us out. The facilities are also fantastic and I was able to get a suit pressed and shirt ironed on short notice which really helped me out.

Located on a hilltop in Stellenbosch's Techno Park, this hotel is a good choice for both business people and vacationers. In the main building are reception, the hotel dining facilities, meeting rooms and some accommodation. Like many guests, however, we were accommodated in a second floor suite of a four-plex. New and spacious it was a very nice experience. If you do book here, however, request a room overlooking the valley. Much nicer. The covered parking is a nice touch here. The breakfast room is a bit sterile. The table settings are not especially appealing here, particularly the paper napkins. Cheapens the experience. All in all, just fine. No surprises.

The conference room is stylish, clean, neat. Seating and layout according to preference. Sweeties and still water on tables. Projector and all servise catered for. Catering excellent. Staff very attentive and helpful

stayed here for two nights in October 2017 as part of a tour of south Africa. The hotel has a good location near to Stellenbosch - rooms are in the form of a number of "double decker" blocks- quite spaced out. Rooms are functional, clean and tidy. When we were there hotel was quite busy with a number of family parties and conference guests- as a consequence it wasn't quiet, and the pool are at the back of my room was used as a barbeque area until quiet late. The pool is again functional. Restaurant basic and again functional- this is a "travelling through" hotel rather than a mainstay location- plus point is the fantastic view from the restaurant

We stayed at this hotel for a night. Although the rooms were comfortable and had all amenities one would require, the restaurant lets this place down. 3 of us had a late dinner at the buffet. The food was cold and dry as it was left out to air for hours, tasteless and not worth the R700 spent for 15mins. when politely pointing this out to the manager she said there was nothing she could do. on checking out the staff were misinformed on the price we were to pay as we booked a room without breakfast but were still charged for it and had to be reimbursed. we were less than impressed unfortunately..
