We visited this hotel for a romantic weekend. It is conveniently located. At first we were very impressed when we arrived early and asked if we could park our car in the lot while we went out for lunch. Not only did they agree but the valet jogged a couple blocks to fetch our car for us. We were so impressed and thought we were off to a good start. Sadly, that was the highlight of the stay. We arrived back late to check in. We were told our bags were in our room. Got to the room-no bags. Had booked the luxury room with king sized bed. Found 2 singles pushed together. Phoned reception and got 2 sulky ladies to “convert it to a king sized bed” (not the same thing!!). We picked the luxury room as a treat. Reminded us of the town lodge. Not luxurious at all. Breakfast buffet was pedestrian and staff poorly trained. There was a leak in the passage and so a musty stack of towels was left outside our room at all times. No windows in the room so it was stuffy. Mini not stocked but could be stocked on request which was annoying. Luckily, not on the street side so quite quiet although you can hear noise from nearby rooms.
We stayed as a family of 4 adults and having requested adjoining rooms prior to stay we were pleased with the lovely welcome and room location even with a separate door isolating the 2 rooms. Very clean and comfortable and staff very efficient and helpful. Again, prior to arrival we had requested transport to Franschhoek for the wine tram and this had been arranged and timing and efficiency were excellent. Our daughter has an intolerance to dairy and the manager even sent out for some almond milk for her especially. Overall thoroughly recommended, homely, spacious and hospitable hotel with an excellent breakfast.
The hotel is located in a very good street, which is near to good stores and restaurants. The hotel has an usual decoration, specially in the bedrooms. The bathroom is a little bit strange, as we don’t have so much privacy after taking a shower and to change clothes, as the bathroom has no door.
The hotel and our room was wonderful overlooking the outside restaurant area, there was parking too which we needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Central location and only walking distance from many attractions.
We stayed here over the weekend. Our first stay in Stellenbosch central. The hotel is in a prime location to the best spots in and out of town. The team were courteous and professional. An excellent stay in a more casual and earthy setting.
There's so much to admire about this hotel as it has a lot of great qualities, centrally located, wonderful staff, beautiful room, comfortable bed BUT none of this matters because it was impossible to sleep during our 2 night stay here. We were given a room overlooking the main street. Stellenbosch is a surprisingly lovely town. People will generally drink late into the night, which results in noisy people on Church Street shouting in the early hours of the morning. Such is the lack of sound proofing in the rooms that I could here the hotel worker raking up leaves each night from the street around 3-4am. We were only staying 2 nights, I was up from 2am on the first night due to drunken people on the street shouting and the noise continued through one thing or another preventing me from sleeping. We'd an early trip to Franchhoek the next day so left without mentioning this to front office. We'd to leave the wine tram after only a few hours in Franchhoek as I was so tired. We would be leaving early the next morning so just went to bed and hoped the noise from the previous night was simply because it was Saturday night. Unfortunately it was a similar story on the Sunday night. So once again we'd to travel to the airport without much sleep for an early flight to Port Elizabeth. I'm disappointed to write this review as there was a lot to like, and the staff especially were great but they simply shouldn't have rooms overlooking the main street with zero sound proofing. A premier inn can guarantee a good night sleep, something this 4 star hotel can't do, which makes all other aspects of the hotel worthless.
Loved this hotel and ca't wait to come back. The hotel is located in close proximity to good restaurants and nightlife. Stellenbosch was unlike everything I expected. The staff is friendly and my room was very comfortable.
Stayed two nights in a deluxe double room. Had chosen hotel with care as it was our honeymoon and as I am a very light sleeper. The room was beautiful and clean, and staff was very friendly, but: 1. Not quiet (as requested). We heard nothing from the street but we were woken up a couple of times during the night by late arriving guests paying no heed to people sleeping, and the door between our room and the corridor was paper thin. Also woken again in the morning by staff working in the courtyard, shouting at each other all the time - from 8 am! 2. The closet smelt strongly of mould so we could not hang anything in there. I have asthma which was excacerbated because of this. 3. Windows to the couryard left gaps on the side even when closed, letting in sounds but also mosquitoes at night. All in all, beautiful hotel, but not excellent and did not meet expectations. Since we were repeatedly woken up by sounds and mosquitoes during the night, we will chose a different hotel next time.
The hotel is centrally situated easy to find and has its own parking Check in was friendly and speedy. Room was modern clean and well maintained Breakfast was very good served at a leisurely pace The bar team were very friendly as were all staff We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our visit Thank you
A small boutique property with very friendly staff, upon entrance to our room we were ‘wowed’ it is a extremely spacious room with elegant design which is fitting of the area. We had a balcony overlooking the pool and courtyard. Although the hotel doesn’t have a huge array of amenities it will certainly suit travellers looking for a romantic feel.
