Some staff are helpful - it is about a 3 star hotel in American standards. It is close to family so I stayed here a couple of times. The rooms have been redone but it is very average. Fine but not luxurious at all
I arrived and I had to carry my suitcase and find my room which was at the opposite end of the building. I had to go up the stairs no assistance given. I requested a blanket and received an old brown, rough and harsh blanket written single bed with a marker. my duvet was a single as well which I don't use at home either. the water was lukewarm in the morning and cold in the evening, I requested attention to be given to the situation a maintenance guy came to assist but resolved the water was cold because of the many people in the hotel. The hotel should have a system in place of keeping water warm despite an increase in the number of people occupying it. on the last day I was told to take my bag to reception away from the dinning hall no one sent to assist me with the bag. for the amount of money you pay a night the service was a 2 star the only thing good was the food. the hotel itself too is beautiful but I missed home so much as I received service below what I give myself on a daily bases
All in all is very well. Clean and comfortable room, excellent service. The hotel is suitable for any events like as conferences and meetings. Location is quite far from the city center, but near to local wine farms. Next time I'll definitely stay in this hotel.
The room was comfortable & clean with all amenities needed and a nice view of the garden. As a result of the conference there was an influx of guests & the room was unfortunately located quite a distance from the conference venue. Breakfast & other catering was delicious.
Situated near the centre of Somerset, near one of the busiest roads, The Lord Charles almost deceptively and innocuously offers a country getaway feel with plush lawns, superb amenities and friendly staff. My room was quiet and peaceful was the occasional reminder of countryside when the local quail came to visit.
The hotel location, drive through to reception and the building itself gives you a sense of importance, calmness and opulence. The reception was warm and welcoming. The room itself was average, and I did not like the idea of a double room for two with small single beds. the mattresses were too soft and might need to be changed! The shower was a complete turn off. The breakfast was delicious, had a wide variety of everything that one might desire. The garden outside the dining room was my highlight of each morning
The rooms are comfortable and clean. Servicing of rooms done efficiently. Had and issue with the tv that was sorted out. Quality of food is outstanding. All and all feel of the hotel is comfortable and relaxing.
Overall, I had an excellent stay at NH The Lord Charles, which appears to be an older, country building that has been renovated into a hotel. The room was quiet and comfortable; I slept well; the ventilation system worked very well; and water pressure in the shower was fantastic. WiFi was a bit difficult to connect but ultimately worked well. Food was very good to excellent in the restaurants. Room service was perhaps the fastest of anywhere I have ever stayed. Service was excellent with a helpful and friendly staff, particularly Annaline in The Garden Terrace and Corne at Reception. A few minor complaints: a) the fitness room is very small but adequate, b) checkout time is 10:00, the earliest anywhere I have ever stayed, and c) the hotel does not participate in the NH Rewards program even though it is an NH brand hotel. Even with these minor quibbles, the stay qualifies as 5 stars.
My room was located close to the staff parking lot and the door to the patio would not close or lock, my safe was broken and despite complaining was not fixed during my stay. The shower is at a really awkward angle and the water was at best warm. The room service was efficient, though and the club sandwich was delicious. Very glad I did not have to pay for this stay...
We've just hosted the 15th SAGA 2017 Conference at the Lord Charles, and as part of the organising committee, I cannot rave enough about their exceptional support and amazing service over the last week. From Anqelika helping me with accommodation bookings to Nico solving the 'mini camera' challenge - to Angie 'the angel' and 'Henry the hero' I want to mention every team member by name! You guys have a special thing going. We hope to be back with another conference soon!
