What a lovely place. We throughly enjoyed our stay - ideal location for getting the tram to a number of favourite vineyards. Everywhere in town is walking distance - perfect for leaving your car and enjoy the wines. An extra mention of praise is the staff, my fiancée left her glasses behind and they made the effort to return them safely by post.

Gable Manor Franschhoek

On arrival we were advised that there would be Eskom load shedding for 2hrs from 20:00, which is nothing unusual in SA. Most unusual was to discover that no provision had been made for the convenience of guests - lamps, torches or emergency generator supplies. Fortunately we had our own torches. This was the only negative occurrence, the proprty was spotlessly clean, breakfast appetising, staff helpful and the pool and garden inviting.

Friendly stay in Franschhoek

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only gripe was that we were expecting a balcony room but instead had a rather dark room on the ground floor, not aided by load shedding at various points in the day. Breakfast was delicious, and bed was very comfy, would stay there again.

Room and breakfast great. Particular praise for Dino, who runs it, for all his help and recommendations. Before our visit he arranged a private wine tour for our party, and booked us 2 evening meals in restaurants in Franschhoek, both of which were excellent

Good position, overlooking rocks, would be great position in whale spotting season. Close to town centre (10 minute stroll) but quiet. Amazing view from 1st floor restaurant, although food is limited choice and quite plain - but pleasant enough. Room wasn't seaview (ground floor tucked in corner) but perfectly pleasant overlooking edge of garden. Rather baroque interior of main rooms (especially hallway) - not necessarily to everyone's taste - but at least not featureless chain hotel! Pool small but functional.

Fabulous Gable Manor

My husband and I were thrilled with Gable Manor. First of all it is beautiful. The setting is wonderful. The staff was incredible; they helped us plan each day, and their advice was invaluable to us. The breakfast was absolutely the best, with homemade jam and croissants fresh from the oven. They also had fresh fruit, eggs, bacon , etc. etc. All this served in a lovely poolside dining room. We would definitely stay there again and again.

Nice "little" cottage

Not at all what we expected. A hole house for our self. Lavender Cottage. Everything that you could expect from an ordinary house, was here, quit nice. Of course some information was missing on hotels.com, (no breakfast, no wifi, certain arrival times) but anyhow everything worked out great and we were very satisfied with our stay.

Gabelmanor Franchhoek RSA in the winelands

Great location to take a trip; lovely views of mountains and vineyards from room balcony. Easy reach of vineyards and excellent restaurants in the town and nearby. Food very good with great service at Gabelmanor; extremely helpful in providing info or places to see and making bookings for us. Would stay there again if we ever visited the area in the future.

Aardig, maar wees alert welke kamer je krijgt.

Helaas was slechts kamer 3 voor ons beschikbaar en deze kamer had totaal geen uitzicht. Dat viel voor een verblijf in Franschhoek erg tegen. De omschrijving “de luxe kamer” ontging ons. Ondanks eerdere reviews met een opmerking over het gemis van een koelkastje op de kamer is hier niets mee gedaan, geen koelkast dus. We mochten wel een kleine ruimte in de koelkast van het management gebruiken. Ik vermoed dat we best wel een andere kamer hadden gekregen als deze beschikbaar was geweest, helaas was dat niet mogelijk omdat het vol was. Be sure to avoid room 3! Wel een gunstige ligging t.o.v. de Wine Tram halte. Het zwembad was niet zo appetijtelijk en de stoelen er om heen waren bedekt met smoezelige handdoeken.
