We stayed at the Dysart at the end of a touring trip to South Africa. Having stayed on or around the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town on a number of occasions, we thought this place in Green Point would be a bit different and allow us to see a bit more of the city. We had booked room 1, on the ground floor, adjacent to the pool, as it was the last room available for the days we needed. We noted from the photo that it seemed there were sunbeds almost immediately outside our doors and queried whether there had been any complaints of noise. we were told there had not been and, in the event, we probably had more noise from guests opening and closing their doors and talking in the (fairly stark) corridors than we did from the pool area. However, the hotel's website says that we have private exit to the pool area/ Well, if private exit is sliding open your 'patio' doors to be greeted by 4 enormous yucca plants in pots, placed there to screen us, in part, from the glare of the sunworshippers around the pool, then I suppose the description is right! Private exit and public entrance is more suitable a term. The website, in summary, also says that all rooms have Nespresso machines - they do not. Some, as was the case for us, have kettles with tea and coffee-making facilities. Maybe not a big difference, but a difference nevertheless. Room 1 also appears to suffer from having three air conditioning compressors attached to the wall immediately outside of its bathroom window. If ours was off and the window was open, the noise from others' AC units was quite intrusive at times. The staff at the Dysart are lovely and breakfast is nicely presented in a relatively small dining area. Outside space is partially shaded, but this wasn't enough in the temperatures we experienced during our stay. As the inside of the dining area is not air-conditioned, it makes for a very warm breakfast experience on occasions. The pool was lovely and, given the hotel is shielded by the high ground behind from any breeze, the pool was the only place to cool off from mid-morning to late afternoon. We found it necessary to get out of the hotel and walk along the prom, whether to Sea Point, through the lovely park, or to the V&A Waterfront, past the football stadium. The sea breezes have an influence from not too far down either walk. Apart from the descriptions mentioned, there isn't much wrong with this place but there are better located places and these may be more appropriate for travellers who have limited walking ability (although of course taxis, assuming they are Uber, are cheap and plentiful).
As locals from Johannesburg we pop into Cape Town often and stay in different places. This might be our best find as of yet. Warm, friendly, brilliantly located and greatly appointed. So glad we found DySArt we will be back. Hopefully soon!
Such a beautiful hotel in a great location, it’s amazing to think you are in a city when it is so quiet at night. Secure parking with 24 hour security. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The bottle of champagne in the fridge for our honeymoon was a very nice touch, thank you! Special mention to Denis and Joseph who were forever smiling and so chatty - it is reasons like this that I don’t always book large hotel chains, the personal experience at DysArt was fantastic. The breakfast was superb, great selection and they will cook eggs etc to order. You can relax in the evening and have a drink by the pool. We will hopefully return in the near future!
Lovely little hotel in a residential neighborhood with a great location. The staff was so friendly and welcoming and got us the best reservations at restaurants in town. Great breakfast and loved the day trips arranged with Alex.
The location is great. The staff are wonderful. The room we had was well appointed and very comfortable. The extra details provided made us feel really welcome. They even provided roses and champagne for my wife's birthday and sang Happy Birthday. Couldn't rate the experience higher
My sister niece and I had 3 lovely nights here after returning from safari in the Eastern Cape at Amakhala Game Reserve We needed to rest and chill out and this hotel was the perfect place to do that. Quirky modern design set into a hillside with rooms on several levels. Two swimming pools and patio area perfect for relaxing We had 2 rooms with sea view so had lots of steps to climb from street level which was a slight disadvantage for me as I have some difficulty with mobility sometimes I managed very well however and enjoyed the service from the friendly attentive staff. Dennis must get another mention! He can’t do enough for you nor can his colleague Dion and the security staff. A nice breakfast buffet plus freshly cooked eggs sets you up nicely for the day Would happily stay here again and recommend it to friends and family
This is a lovely small boutique hotel close to the water front in Cape Town. The staff were all friendly and professional and happy to help with any questions. The breakfast was very good. We stayed in rooms 1 and 2 and my only recommendation would be to have curtains placed to cover the light from the windows. Would gladly recommend the hotel. Loved the art!
A lot of thoughts have been put into the design of this hotel. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The staff are friendly, and went out of their way to help you. Other than a slight problem with WiFi, there really is no complaint at all about our stay here.
Stayed for three nights in October 17. We found the hotel very charming and the personnel very friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfast with everything we needed. Very nice and clean room. Nice location with walking distance both to the water front as well as to down town Cape town.
