We have been traveling to cape may for decades. The Chalfonte staff was THE NICEST staff we have ever encountered. The room was perfect for us, and we were far enough away that we went to bed early and were unbothered by the music playing late into the night. The BEST part was the beach chairs and umbrellas that you get set up for you on the beach for being a Chalfonte guest. This was a perfect get away and we loved everything about Chalfonte!

We had a very nice day at the shelf on hotel. The staff are lovely. The rooms were clean, and that charm of the Victorian style building and history were great.

I enjoyed our stay at the Chalfonte Hotel. It felt like a step back in time in some ways, which was a nice change of pace. I loved that our family was provided an umbrella and chairs at the beach, which was included in the price of our stay. It was within an easy walk to the beach and the local Cape May establishments. The staff was lovely and very helpful. I would definitely look into staying here again.

The staff was uniformly great. Decor is very Victorian! Not so great having to climb lots of stairs - no elevators. Plumbing fixtures in bathroom awful! Plumbing and electricity very dated throughout. Only 1 TV in the coffee room, they should also put 1 or 2 in the bar. Outdoor music fun and lively scene.

Vintage property with cool public spaces. Live music featuring very talented rhythm and blues. Restaurant is convenient. I was lucky with street parking and the beach umbrella and lounge chairs are a plus. The front desk was super helpful. They brought my bags up to my 3rd floor room. If you like the vintage feel this place a good choice. I will book here again.

No TV -which I neglected to read before booking. Not a B&B. Breakfast is a la carte. No fridge in room. I had to throw my very expensive leftovers away. They DO however, give a pass for beach valet service which is really great! Staff is nice. Would only stay again out of necessity though.

The hotel was very clean, but could use some updating. The thermostat in our room showed 91% humidity and a guest accidentally set off the fire alarm while using a hair dryer. There is no tv or mini fridge. Location is great and it was not difficult to find nearby street parking.

Quaint and loud guests

The chalfonte is a gorgeous old Victorian building with a gorgeous porch. We were put in the southern quarters which was also nice and had charm, however it feels excluded from the main building. The walls are very thin, and the entrance to the hotel was right next to our room. So the screen door was constantly slamming. The guests were very loud Friday night before the wedding. They were up until 3:30 am yelling, fighting, crying, slamming doors. It was ridiculous. Their voices radiated through the air conditioner vent. Needless to say, I barely got any sleep. There was no water provided. There was a water jug but it was empty the whole time. I wasn’t told about any ice or amenities, so if there were any, I wouldn’t have known. The bar and staff were extremely nice. The drinks were very well prepared. The thing about the bar, is that everyone sits on the porch and are very loud. This is also a wedding venue, so keep that in mind. Guests are loud. So, if you want to go to sleep early, you are out of luck. I had to sleep with ear plugs in, but that was mainly because of the loud drunk guests above us. Even though the porch was loud, it did seem to quiet down by midnight. There was no parking or tv as the hotel does say. We had no trouble finding parking very close by. The bed was comfortable. You do have to share the ac with the three rooms on your floor. So that may not be to your liking. The location is great. I’m not sure I would stay again, based mostly on the noise.

Cool historic hotel that made us feel like the heydays of Cap May. It was a short trip so we did not get to experience the restaurant or bar. Everything was well maintained. Bathrooms new. Great bed. Nic e little coffee area and a nice evig porch to get your first cupa in the sun. No TVs in room but it feels like a special place overall.

We enjoyed the Victorian-era design and charm of the Chalfonte, especially the wrap-around balcony with rocking chairs and tables. It was an easy walk from the hotel to the Convention Center and the beach.

Lovely historic property; so clean and well maintained. The beds are very comfy and I particularly enjoy the in-room sinks separate from the bathroom, so convenient. The hosts are terrific, communicative, and helpful. They were super responsive when I accidentally locked myself out one evening. There is also a delightful shared cosy kitchen nook/ area with microwave, refrigerator, makings for coffee, tea- overall just a wonderful, special experience. I've already been back two more times after my first stay, and look forward to many more future visits to the Chalafonte!

The main building was closed for off season, we were given a room in a house converted to a hotel, we can hear the neighbors talking, I hit my toes many times going to the bathroom, very disappointed, not what your website advertised, please review your hotels and confirm their services. I have to be careful with Expedia selection in the future.

Booked this Hotel with the understanding that we would be staying in the Hotel. The morning of arrival, we were notified by phone that we would not be staying there but next to it at an alternate building. It was adequate but not what was paid for or explained to us when we booked it. Very questionable Business practices. Would not recommend.

A delightful one night stay in a quaint old victorian era hotel. We stayed in the Southern House which is used in winter time I guess. Nicely appointed old property reminescent of many years ago in downtown cape may, near the beach and convention hall. Definitely recommend if you dont mind winding stairs.
