Good location but nothing else. The room I stayed in was dirty, worn out and had strong smell of cigarette. Stayed here for two nights but realized on the second day that my room is not a non smoking room. Asked if it was possible to get another room - but got an answer it was not possible. While checking in no one asked if I would like to have a room from the smoking side of the hotel. An expensive but rude experience. Not recommend.
Stayed 3 nights here but regretted by choice after first night. The only 2 plus points i can think of: 1. Very friendly front counter staff. 2. Good location to alot of eateries. Note: While on google map says the hotel is 12mins away from the Main station. It is not advisable if you are carrying alot of luggage as the path of Zurich is difficult to drag your trolley / luggage. Bad: - The bed is quite uncomfortable. - The pillow is very very, extremely flat, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. - no kettle in the room. - no air-con (but thankfully it is November and it is cold enough) - i wasn't given any bottle of water after the room services. i got around this by refilling my water bottle during breakfast. But it is a simple gesture unless the hotel mgmt is thinking to making additional revenue by selling water. Will i return? NO. For additional CHF 10+, i could get much better hotel around the vicinity.
The Hotel Basilea is a good, solid place to stay but nothing special. Which is fine - that's all I wanted. I stayed here for two nights in August so I could go out exploring the city, I didn't need anything special as I was not going to b in the room very much. As it turned out this hotel was all I needed. The staff were very nice and they quickly checked me in (even though I was 2 hours early). The room size was plenty big enough for me and my luggage, the WiFi was excellent, and the location was 6-7 minutes walk to the train station and perhaps 10 minutes from the centre of the city - perfect in both respects. The breakfast was very good too. As I said before, the hotel is perfect for someone who just wants a place to crash for a few nights whilst they do some sightseeing during the day, I'd certainly consider staying again if I visit again.
I stayed here for one night and very glad it wasn't for any longer. The room was very basic and looked like it hadn't had any attention for a long time. The door to the room was like an office door that needed painted. The bed was pushed against the wall at the side and open and the top and bottom and did not have a headboard. I had to use one of the quilts to fashion a headboard of sorts. The carpet must be in the Guinness book of records as the thinnest carpet ever. No comfort to it at all. You could here every noise from rooms adjacent and above and below. Snoring, bed springs, moving around, doors opening etc. could be heard all night. The lift looked dangerous as well - I used the stairs. This all cost over £280 for one night. I'm glad I wasn't paying (as it was a business trip) but it is still a rip off. On the plus side, check in and out was efficient and breakfast was OK.
Central yet quiet situation 500 m from the central station and right on the amusement area with lots of restaurants around the corner, in the old city. Not a posh hotel, but offers exactly what you expect from a middle ranked hotel, but very cleanly.
Clean and organized hotel (yes of course, this is Switzerland). Small room, but contains everything you need. Bed, desk, fast internet, etc. It was a bit warm (mid Aug) and it was a bit noisy from the street if you have the window open, but its fine if you are used to city buzz. Or if you have the window closed. My friend had the room towards the inner yard, which was calmer. Nice breakfast, friendly staff.
Within walking distance to Zurich center, this simple hotel has large rooms, simply furnished and bright. The staff is helpfull and breakfast is nice. The main point to stay here is the price and the location.
The lady at reception was bit rude but that is because she was racist I guess 😼 But anyways because of one rude human m not going to give negative points . Hotel is good . 10 min walk to central station. 2 min walk to brothel 😝 You can stay with family, friends or girlfriend....no issues.
This was the first stop of a five stop train journey through four different European countries, and thankfully they only got better. We realised that Switzerland and Zurich in particular were expensive, especially with what we paid for this 3* hotel. We arrived late and were given the keys to room 105 on the front. When we got there it smelt of stale cigarette smoke. Even in 3* we would have expected a wardrobe, but instead just had a rail with 5 coat hangers. There wasn't a hook behind the door or even the bathroom door. It was a very small room with low beds, one side of which was up against the wall, although in fairness the beds were really comfortable. The bathroom was tired and we had a real job getting the shower door to close properly. Breakfast was good, no complaints, with excellent coffee. There wasn't a bar, which really wasn't a problem, particularly as the info folder in the room stated there was a soft drinks machine downstairs. This was no longer available, only tins of Coke from behind reception, with no ice available. On the last day we asked reception to change a 5 franc coin just in case the facilities were needed at the station, but he wasn't able to as his colleague had the keys and was at breakfast. We don't think he could be bothered.
the room was great ,the food was good and nice variety and the front desk staff especially Sabine was really helpful and provided great suggestions for the places we should visit. The hotel is in the heart of the city and heating facilities also available.
