The good first, and there is quite a lot of good things 1) Checking in was a breath. No line, professional personnel and an offer of free coffee because we arrived very early and the room was obviously not ready yet. 2) The room is decent in size, even by USA standards. Clean, ventilated, and, by request not bottom floors or road-facing. A bottle of water and another of sparkling water were a nice touch. Bath/shower combo was excellent- no complaints. 3) Concierge services - fast, professional and mighty friendly. 4) TV service - while the screen was really small, a great selection including a good number of English speaking channels, which is very rare by European standards. 5) More than reasonable breakfast buffet. Do realize that you can have your eggs and coffee, whichever way you like. Don't b bashful and just ask. So, what is there not to like? These guys start cleaning rooms on the very early side every morning (except Sundays). The service elevator is noisy, cleaning staff not as quite as desirable, and vacuuming in adjacent rooms, all in combination, will get you out of bed too early... So here is our tip. Stay away from rooms 1-2-3-4 on every floor- that is for example 301-302-303-etc. you will thank us! All in all - highly recommended
Second time I stayed at this hotel. Took a superior room with plenty of space. Bathroom was nice but instructions manual was missing for how to use the toilet (Japanese style washing/drying). I found the A/C to be quite noisy for such a hotel. Service was good, all staff was helpful and friendly. WI-FI very good.
My husband and I stayed recently for 6 days and experienced efficient and extremely friendly service from the staff, especially those on reception. The room was spacious and very well equipped on the 5th floor overlooking the courtyard and was quiet at all times. It was close to all the main attractions and tram stops were nearby and the efficient tram system enabled us to get around the beautiful city with ease. There was always fresh fruit at breakfast and also baskets of apples on every floor. A bonus for us in the city was that there was a three day international youth band festival going on during our stay. We also enjoyed a concert at the Tonhalle concert hall and an opera at the opera house.
Though room was small as compare to GCC / American hotels but their customer service is exceptional. From Check In to check Out I haven't faced any issue in this hotel. Breakfast was also nice and more than reasonable. Location is good if you love Shopping but 10 mints walk to main railway station. I have no option else than to give 100% marks to their Front desk staff.
Went only for a night, the hotel staff friendly and gave me a room upgrade, loved it! nice terrace. The hotel is very well located in the city, the only bad thing is that I went on a Sunday and everything was closed, tried to enjoy as much as possible the Monday morning. Breakfast at the hotel was good, omelet was ok for my experience, very "normal" for such a hotel. I only have one thing I didn't like about this hotel, it doesn't have 24 hour room service, it killed me since I ate a late lunch and got hungry late at night and everything close by was closed (it was Sunday night). When I arrived instead of keeping me waiting on the front desk for the room to be ready, and I arrived earlier than the regular check-in, the person (I don't remember his name, sorry) gave us a voucher for ANY drink at the hotel bar, I got a VERY good Single Malt drink and it was covered. Really nice touch!! Thank you for the great experience, for sure will try to be back to Zurich and to this hotel in particular!
For a bit more of their average rate you can stay in a much better place. The location was in the busy center of ton far from the lake but close to the train station. rooms where big but there was no gym. I paid 360 use and i thought it was to much compared to other places in Zurich so i moved to a better nicer location.
Recently stayed at Hotel Glockenhof for 3 nights with our adult daughter. Excellent location - about a 10 minute easy walk from Zurich HB central train station. Don't bother setting up transportation or taking a taxi from the airport. Ticketing machines at airport train station were easy to find, signage was good and tickets for two were 13.30 CHF! Can't beat it! Hotel Glockenhof gave us a lovely room, wonderful mattress, pillows and duvet made for good sleeping. Terrific location for shopping on Bahnhofstrasse and exploring Alstadt (Old Town). Best breakfast you will find- including eggs, rosti, bacon, fruit, yogurt, croissants, ham, smoked fish, butter, juices, coffee... great way to start the day! And upon check in we were give a voucher for a free drink in their bar - GloggeEgge! Hotel Glockenhof also has a lovely courtyard which provides a peaceful respite after a long day of touring. Front desk staff was attentive and offered excellent recommendations for dinners in the city. Will definitely be back!
It had all the ingredients of a successful boutique hotel. Well located within walking distance of the tram station or even the Zurich main train station. In a fancy shopping district. Check in was smooth, the front office staff were very courteous. The room itself was not bad - we were in 224 - big enough for our two boys and is adults. Good spread at breakfast. The only reason they missed an extra star is because service for special orders at breakfast took forever and were always not to specifications. And please don't blame it on language.
Had a great stay here, staff are friendly an warm. The room was impeccable and had great customer service. I would recommend this place to anyone, a little pricey but that's a Zurich thing. My favourite part was the greeting by any staff member no matter what they were doing.
Walking distance to most attractions and the train station. Right across the street you can find the Hiltl restaurant, a staple for vegetarian food. Rooms were clean and properly serviced. Included breakfast offered plenty of quality choices (think proper crisp european style croissants vs american soggy version). Beware of hidden city tourist tax, which you would find only at checkout. Might worth asking what one gets in return, as every touristic activity is crazy expensive in Switzerland.
