We went to this hotel for about one week and it was a great experience. The first day they gave us the map of the city and sightseeing places and also our free city trip cards and public transportation map. There's a beautiful church nearby so you can visit it as soon as you get there. Breakfast was amazing there. Little variety but every part was tasty. Wish I could have more of those tasty croissants and jam. We had equipment to have tea in our room but they didn't charge teabags during our stay. When we asked them for it,they gave some to us. They won't put mineral water in your room every day and it's just for your first day in the hotel so notice if you want to buy some. It's really close to the city center as we could walk there every day to get there. Such a beautiful view when you have your breakfast in the hotel. A splendid view to the river and mountains with fresh air. It's really nice to feel morning breeze on your skin. The room was really clean and room service was good. We had enjoyed our stay there. Hope you enjoy too😉
We spent one night in this hotel that is supposed to be a good hotel in lausanne. Our staying was very upsetting: poor service, quite old decor and the breakfast was the worst experience! 22 . Chf of buffet breakfast of real low quality: little choice, no good coffe nor cappuccino, nothing really tasty.
My room was clean, comfortable but nothing special. The breakfast was poor. The location was good to reach the old town by foot and the lake easily by bus or underground. The only problem is that this location does not seem safe for single women or even families, as there have been some bag robberies.
I could not wait to write those lines ... this place was once a bijoux - lovely descrete bar and extraordinary food and service. Cheching in was OK - my Accor membership saved me some trouble .. valet parking was OK too. Room very mediocre and not clean ... for one night ... I do not care.. the worse was this morning. The breakfast buffet really poor - not meeting 4 stars at all. 3 baskets: 1 croissant and 2 bread. Was looking for any tools to serve myselfes - personnell asked me to use my hands. One type of cold cut "turkey" from the last century .. very salty. The restaurant staff told that's how it is summer time as they have groups; it means quality deterioration. What about an individual business traveler?? I am speechless to pay this amount and receive that service. Never again
I stayed here for a night. This hotel has a older feel to the decor but it has modem features. The room was quite spacious and included a good shower. The breakfast offering was acceptable and all items were available. This hotel is located near to a few restaurants to allow for variety in your eating.
We upgraded to a suite so we could have a balcony and a view. Room was nice. Staff was unfriendly and quoted us the wrong price for the suite upgrade and would not honor that price at checkout - only about 30 Swiss francs difference but it capped a disappointing stay. It's a very steep walk uphill from the train station so if using a wheelchair be sure to take the subway up the hill to Bessiers. As noted in another thread, Lausanne is not great for wheelchair users. The people in Lausanne otherwise seemed very friendly, but we would not come back.
I've just come back from a 3 night stay while visiting the Montreux Jazz festival. I have stayed previously for the same reason. There were two of us on the trip and we booked lake view rooms. The view is without a doubt fantastic. Worth noting that some lake view rooms have a full balcony that you can sit out on and others only a window and so if you can it may be worth asking for a room with a full balcony if available as this adds a nice little touch. Rooms as previously mentioned are clean and functional. The showers are really powerful and there is lots of storage space. Good TV channel selection for English speakers. However, there are no tea/coffee facilities which would be useful. The soundproofing on the rooms is excellent. Reception staff are friendly enough and the bar is very nice if a little quiet. The breakfast is very minimal for CHF 22. Overall, if you're looking for a central location with easy walkable (but hilly!) access in Lausanne then I would say this hotel could work for you. P.s. To get to an from the train station take the Number 1 bus from outside the BCV bank just down the street from the hotel which should be 'free' with your local travel card and this drops you right off outside the central train station.
We booked a triple room and loved the space. The front desk were very accommodating. You can walk ( up and down a steep hill) to the train station or jump in an 'Uber pop' for a few swiss francs. Easy area to walk around with great views from the front. There is a small outdoor patio to enjoy summer evenings. A pleasant walk to the Saturday market.
Nice atmosphere- windows were open for outdoor cafe feel. Excellent dinner including locally caught fish. The wait staff spoke English very well, and provided excellent menu suggestions! Also had breakfast in the same location with the same outdoor cafe feel but the comfort of an inside restaurant.
Choosing this hotel really is a matter of taste. This hotel suits those who like classic architecture and an old world feel to their hotel. I am quite the opposite and much prefer the modern feel of the Royal Savoy in Lausanne and my rating reflects that. Nonetheless, having tried it out for a few days here are a couple of thoughts: -Reception staff are excellent. Fast, efficient and polite. -The hotel is well situated around the corner from some good restaurants and bars. If you walk from the station, be prepared to walk up quite steep hills/several flights of stairs to get there. -Whilst the lobby area has an old world feel to it, the bedrooms are simply dated. No decent linens, products, tech etc. I sighed as I walked into mine. -I only ate breakfast as the evening menu felt a bit limited. It was fine - but nothing notable. -Value for money wise it is good
