Normally we like to stay in Canterbury itself, but the trouble with safe parking and the noise at night. We chose to come out of Canterbury. What a great place to stay, its only a 10 minute walk into Canterbury. Either by the main road which we did when returning at night or the river which we did in the day. Parking, a clean and tidy room, with modern decoration, hair dryer, alarm clock, tea making facilities. Really friendly owners who give you plenty explanation of the surrounding area, where to go and what to do. A fantastic English breakfast, cooked to order. Cereals, juice and fruit available. A wonderful place to stay.
Stayed here for a very quick 2 day whirlwind sightseeing trip to Canterbury. Really like it a lot. I was in a single; clean, comfortable, well maintained room. The room was compact but well appointed and more than suited my needs. Full English breakfast was wonderful, and the host was helpful and friendly. Easy walk to the tourist attractions and train station, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be peaceful in the evenings. I will definitely stay here again.
Brilliant! Couldn't fault it. Breakfasts were superb and they catered for my wheat & lactose intolerance, sourcing suitable bread & sausages. Friendly environment. Rooms ideal. Off road parking and only a short walk to the centre of everything. If I return to Canterbury, this is where I'll stay.
David and Sandra are excellent. Their warm welcoming and smile make you feels like home. Located closely to the west station and only a short walk to downtown. Room was clean and bright, and their information pack...Its just fab! It gives you all the information that you may or want to know; attractions, restaurants, local amenities and more! Definitely will return!
We had a family room with en -suite- immaculate, comfortable and very peaceful. Close to a very pretty riverside walk into town. It's a typically English B and B-dark furniture, tasteful chintz, pretty gardens, blue and white decor. The hosts are friendly, and child-friendly[we were traveling with a lively toddler, and they made us feel very welcome, with helpful hints on where to go]. Real coffee! Nice tea! The' full English' freshly cooked to perfection [I know how difficult it is to get the timing right!] with a choice of fruit, cereal, prunes, peaches- wholemeal toast. Minor gripes?[ I like my tomatoes cooked a bit longer] but other than that, repeated perfection!] Very nice bacon, too! I was a bit apprehensive about taking a toddler away for a long weekend, away from his parents, but this was the perfect place, such a quiet and peaceful break for all of us!
The staff here make you feel at home. It is comfortable, clean and a great breakfast all reasonably priced. Take a walk by the river to get into central Canterbury. En suite bathroom. What more do you need?
Stayed here last weekend whilst visiting family. Know Canterbury well but such a good location, a brisk 10 minute walk into the centre of the City. Room was spacious, bright and clean. Huge en-suite bathroom with shower. Relatively close to the main road, but we slept fine with the window open. Had an information packet provided in our room with all local amenities, food restaurants, places to visit etc. Just fab! The breakfast each morning was to die for! So much choice; fresh juices, fresh fruit, cereal, tea, coffee and full English! Thank you for a lovely stay. We will be back!
My wife and I stayed here for two nights while visiting Canterbury Cathedral. Conveniently located on a quiet street that is still a only a short walk to the downtown area, and the Cathedral. We wanted to stay out of the downtown, which can get rather noisy at night, with many bars in this area. Our host was pleasant and efficient, and our room was clean.
My sister and I stayed at St Stephens Guest House for a week. Our experience was most enjoyable. Sandra and David were lovely people, the room we had was so comfortable, every thing was clean and well decorated, the en-suite was most clean and fresh. Breakfast was superb. After a long and interesting day in the City or further afield we would come back to a clean and fresh room every time. Thank you to both David and Sandra for everything Pearl
Just stayed for the one night in a twin room. The guesthouse is within easy walking of the city's attractions, maybe 15 minutes to the cathedral or High Street. There is off-road parking for several cars. The beds were very comfortable and the room has a tea/coffee making facilities plus biscuits. Toiletries are provided and the shower was efficient. Breakfast consists of a selection of cereals, fruits, juices, and yoghurts. If you go for the full English, highly recommended, it consists of 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, fried egg, half a tomato, beans, and mushrooms. Delicious! Check-in and check-out very easy and straightforward and the oner is very friendly. Highly recommended
