My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here during our spa trip to Calistoga! Gillian went above and beyond to create a homey, comfortable and personalized stay. Location is great, walking distance to downtown Calistoga. Super accommodating and allowed us to check in a little bit earlier, as we had mud baths and massages booked in the afternoon. Beautiful guest lounge and garden, clean rooms and comfortable beds :) Breakfast was AMAZING. So many delicious options, everything house made, including the best scones I've ever had. She is a fabulous chef and even has a cookbook featuring "inn food" recipes! Look no further for where to stay in Calistoga!
Large and friendly, great rooms, court yard, awesome breakfast, and super fast wifi. On the highway, but quiet inside, walk to shops, parks and wine tasting, Calistoga is certainly worth the drive to the top of the valley.
We visited Calistoga for our anniversary weekend and stayed at Wine Way Inn. We loved everything about it! Beautiful room and house, comfortable bed, a beautiful quiet patio area to enjoy complimentary wine in the evening and a delicious home cooked breakfast in the morning. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Gillian, our hostess was friendly and helpful with tips on where to go for dinner and good wineries in the area. Highly recommend!!
Very charming and well apponted B&B. Nice rooms with character. Walking distance to "downtown". Superb and welcoming service. We very much enjoyed our brief stay, and we will certainly book again on another visit to Calistoga.
We enjoyed our short stay at the Wine Way Inn; our hostess Gillian Kite was gracious and charming. Our short stay was the result of a last minute booking as we headed to the Petrified Forest in Calistoga; a first time visit for me. The Wine Way Inn exceed our expectations; we found the Wine Way Inn quaint, comfortable, charming, and invitingly comfortable, both in accommodations and location. After passing an afternoon in the Petrified Forest and spending that night in the Inn; Gillian greeted her guest in the morning with an amazing breakfast, which included delicious accompaniments our Hostess had prepared, Breakfast at the Wine Way Inn was a good start to our visit to Sonoma and the Korbel Winery, as well.
We arrived about 615PM Easter Sunday and let ourselves the room was clean and had a patio. Downstairs were some scones for snacking and wine and sherry. Comfortable couches for resting and relaxing and enjoying the view. The breakfast was superb. A fruit dish and egg dish with fresh veggies. Also delightful scones.
Booked our stay via booking.com. photos looked good and reviews promising. First of all the pros: Quaint old property with lots of character. Quite arts and crafts. The lounge is very comfortable and lends itself to socialising with your fellow guests. Complementary wine in evening most welcome. Breakfast was great and varied both mornings; frittata, bacon hash, muffins, fruit, home made granola and wonderfully creamy home made yoghurt. Very clean bathrooms and bedrooms and the beds and pillows comfortable. Lovely garden area out back with plenty of covered seating. Although location not great in terms of noise and proximity to main road, it does mean that 'downtown' is a short walk. We enjoyed Calistoga town very much. Now the cons: the property is located very close to busy road by the t-junction for downtown Calistoga. We were first allocated the Napa room, which is at the front of the property. The room and bathroom were very small with limited floor space. The window had wooden shutters which couldn't be opened fully as the bedhead prevented this. No TV. A very poor night sleep due to the traffic noise. Elizabeth, the innkeeper, arranged for us to be moved to another room for our second night with the promise that although at the front the windows were newer and more soundproof. It was a much bigger bedroom with aovely big bathroom. The bedroom though was quite dim as the lights not particularly bright. Sadly no improvement with traffic noise. Had my worst nights sleep in all of my 2 week trip. Wi-fi very hit and miss and dropped out completely during 2nd night only to be rebooted when staff arrived in morning but then dropped out again. Enjoyed the hospitality but overall not a successful stay for us.
After driving through the redwoods on a very stormy day we arrived to be welcomed and oriented to our lovely room by Elizabeth. The room and bath were very luxurious and the sitting rooms and amazing glass roofed breakfast room were very inviting. We met two other lovely couples who were also overnighting and everyone went out to dinner. As the bill arrived at our restaurant the lights in the whole town went out. We found our way, in a completely blacked out town, back to the Wine Way to find the other guests sitting in the dark enjoying the complementary wine and sherry provided. We all had a great time during which Nick and Gillian, the very charming owners, appeared with a generator and extension cord to give us light and device charging if the power stayed off. We eventually retired in the dark and the power reportedly returned at 1AM. The next morning we had an absolutely sumptuous breakfast prepared buy Gillian. When we next find our way back to the Calistoga area we would not think of staying anywhere but at the Wine Way or their nearby Craftsman Inn.
The last time we visited Wine Way Inn was ten years ago; and we really regret that it took so long to return. Nick and Gillian are still gracious and welcoming. They still serve the best breakfasts around. Due to a malfunctioning doorknob to our room, (it came off), we had to change rooms. These things happen. It was truly no big deal in a property like this that was renovated. Both Nick and Gillian were apologetic and handled the situation by moving us to a different and larger room. This is not a sterile and faceless hotel. It is a great place to relax. Breakfasts each day are a treat with items like poached eggs, sausages, scones, beans, frittata, and fruit. The evenings offer wine in the lobby. We wish all our vacations were like this one. We'll be back again.
This was our fourth stay at the Wine Way Inn and it's still simply one of our favorite B&B's. Our hostess, Elizabeth, goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and prepares some amazing breakfasts. After spending the day driving around the valley, there's nothing more relaxing than sitting in the living room downstairs enjoying some scones and wine, then walking to dinner in downtown Calistoga.
