Went for a conference and stayed two nights. Although the hotel and breakfast was good it was so disappointing that while I went for my breakfast, a staff member of room service sneaked into my room and within minutes she stole money off my purse .. I highlighted the issue the the staff at the reception and except checking the timings that the lady was in my room only for a minute they offered nothing! Not even an apology!! Such a shame ! The reputation of the hotel we spoilt by staff - wouldn’t leave anything valuable from future - even if you are Going out of the room well before 8 am!

Great and friendly staff. Location - out of downtown, not close to metro station but near a tram and a bus stop, just next to MOM mall. Taxi to downtown costs appprox 10 EUR Rooms are OK, old style, with small TV sets and 2 tiny rooms for bathroom and a toilet. Strange double doors on the toilet, like in a western bar Ironing room on each floor. Good SPA and fitness. Conference rooms are fine, food also Just next to the hotel is Budapest Congress Centre Have in mind when booking/ paying - all transactions in EUR. Used my personal credit card for guarantee and when they returned money back I lost more than 30 EUR just because of the exchange rate

I went to Budapest for a business trip and stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and 3 days. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Check in was very easy and the staff in the reception were quite humble. The room was very spacious for one person and it was maintained quite clean throughout. There is daily room cleaning service and they replenish the towels, change the bed sheets etc. The WiFi is very strong and speedy and above all its free. There is minibar inside but you had to pay for the use and I thought it was tad expensive. Free coffee and tea available. 48 inches flat screen TV is there. Buffet breakfast was excellent and they make omlette on order which I loved it. Lots of choices for breakfast in the buffet. The breakfast starts 6:00 am and until 10:00 am. It's outside city centre and that's the only drawback. But the parliament and the castle is around 25-30 mins walk from the hotel. Even the thermal spring baths are in walkable distance. If I travel to Budapest again, I won't mind staying again in this hotel

I stayed here three nights. At the outset, the name BUDAPEST CITY HOTEL is totally misleading, a misnomer! It NOT in the city, but a fair distance, over the Danube. If you want to stay in a Novotel, in Budapest city centre, then your choice should perhaps be the Novotel Centrum. I learnt this of course only after I arrived at the City Hotel and discovered it was a fair few miles from the city! The front desk staff were very good. I will make special mention of Olivia, for being extremely helpful, far above and beyond the call of duty. The room I had was a twin. Clean and entirely adequate. Lighting, fixtures and shower were all reasonable. Hot water in the shower seemed to be spasmodic and one feared if it would run cold, but it restored itself spontaneously. The bath towels provided are of dimensions suitable for children but not for adults! Provision of a bath would have been a welcome attraction especially as Budapest is renowned for its baths. This hotel, unlike many others, does not provide complimentary bottled water in the guest rooms. Very strange. There are two 330 ml bottles of Evian in the refrigerated minibar in the room. But try and slake your thirst with it and you will be charged 1600 HUF which converts to GBP 4.90 making it extremely overpriced by any standards and is definitely not justifiable. Breakfast is from 0630 hrs to 1000 hrs. It is varied and sumptuous in a spacious and well lit breakfast area. There is a Hungarian flavour as goulash and lescho are available for those of an adventurous palate. Omelettes can be made to order. There is a selection of sausages and cheese. You make your own fresh juice. Very good value breakfast indeed. Overall, this hotel is wholesome and clean though not in any way having any pretensions to being luxurious. Probably therefore the hotel is not really deserving the Four Star status.

The hotel is already a few decades old, and since it was built to custom the needs of many as in the 70s and 80s Budapest was a well visited capital, the rooms are very small. To be honest it looks more like a 3+ star hotel then a 4 one. My least favourite feature is the toilet which is practically 1m away from the not so well sealed front door. The staff was kind especially the ones serving the meals and really tending to our needs. It was a cosy hotel but not really worth the 105€ price. More in the 70-75€ cathegory really.

First time chosen Novotel. Location is not far from Fishman bastion, however not close to the metro. Approximately 1h drive from airport. Staff is friendly, check in/out very quickly. Design in Novotel's style. My room was bit outdated, even size was standard, I don't fill light and space. Window is very small, poor sound isolation. Also towels and linens were clean, however outdated. Old shower... Breakfast was variable and tasty, restaurant design is interesting

Once doing the checkin i got a standard room, after requesting for a featured one (wanting the triathlon one) they told me they only had available the tennis one, it was ok and they moved with any issue. The only problem i saw apart from a weird distribution in the toilet+shower spaces, was that the room was next to the elevators and a bit noisy. Apart from this, the reception, workers, and attention were all good. Point to mention is that underground they have a bowling and the swimming pool with gym are acceptable. The only other point to complaint about with what i'm a bit dissapointed is with the restaurant at reception floor (Novo), they were too slow serving, it took us almost two hours to eat a caesar salasd, and also the price of the dinner was a bit expensive including the 15% extra tax, compared with our other two meals in Budapest.

Walking distance from the Royal Palace, and not so far from Pest center if you like to walk (alternatively many public transportation available). Wide selection of food at breakfast. Nice personnel. Wi-fi connection is good. A bit noisy in the night, but due to other guests talking loudly at 2:30 in the morning. Maybe a better sound insulation among rooms could help. Light in the room went out twice (fixed by the hotel personnel first time, then we understood the trick the second time, still not sure why it happened).

It was excellent from fast check in, with special tennis room offered, continue with appropriate pool/sauna treatment, finished with big choice of different courses for breakfast, enjoying basement placed restaurant with a lot of lights.

The Hotel provides professional services for business travellers. The rooms are modern and clean and the Wi-Fi was very fast. The reception is very friendly and provides all the assistance you might need. Breakfast is more than satisfying and offers also local tastes. The only minus is the distance from the city centre, but this was easily resolved using public transportation.
