We came to Budapest for a longweekend holiday and congres as well. We are realy pleased with our choice. Breakfast was perfect with many choices, staffs are very helpful. Especially Mr Attila, cheef of restaurant was amazing. Very careful, helpful and kind. Hotel is closed to everywhere metro, city center, river etc. Rooms are big enough. The only thing was air conditioning was not heating enough. We have told to the reception and they asked us to change the room which was helpful. Thanks to everybody in this hotel. We had realy nice weekend here.
The hotel is well-located - close to metro, tram and bus stops. Also walkable to the train station - a fairly easy 15min walk with our luggage. We had a corner room, which is was spacious with windows along 2 walls, though don't expect much of a view if you face the inner part of the hotel as it simply the messy rooftops of neighbouring bulidings.
Stayed here for four nights. The location is excellent for the tram and metro system which are very easy and cheap to use. The buffet breakfast must be one of the best ones we have ever tried. Superb choice and very fresh, traditional food. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The only minus for us was the room service. Beds weren't made, dirty cups left, shower, toilet and sink not cleaned. Shower wasn't very powerful and the bath towels are small and poor quality.
I recently stayed at the Novotel at the beginning and end of a bus trip to the Balkans. The Novotel is well located, and close to trams, busses and the metro. The rooms are large, clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast buffet was generous, with lots of hot and cold choices. The staff were friendly and attentive. My only caution is that the hotel staff needs to rethink its choice of taxi companies. It cost me 2500 to go to a specific location in a taxi ordered from the hotel, and 1200 to return to the hotel from the same location in a taxi I flagged off the street. Same time of day (only 2 hours later) same distance. This is too large a discrepancy, and I would request the hotel look into other taxi alternatives. Budapest already has a reputation for overpriced and dishonest taxi drivers .... incidents like this don't help.
Convenient location near a metro station. We were able to get a central courtyard room which was quiet and comfortable. The breakfasts were buffet style with a wide choice typical of many hotel chains, but the winner for us was the optional evening meal in the restaurant. The hotel served (a limited selection of) evening meals in various Hungarian styles. They were all tasty and well presented and described fully in English. There was backgroung live piano music, largely well known tunes from musicals. I have to say that the embellishments the pianist was fond of adding could be a bit trying and unnecesary, but generally it created a good feel. Eating in saved us trekking out in the evening to find a restaurant which might have left us having to choose either a "safe" option like steak or wrestle with cryptic Hungarian translations.
Very clean hotel. Nice rooms and comfy beds. Mini bar in room and not too expensive. Breakfast selection was excellent and very busy too. Staff a bit grumpy but maybe just the Hungarian way. Avoid buying drink in hotel as ridiculous service charge, but I believe you can ask them to remove this. Location fantastic for bus, metro and tour buses. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby and a nice leisurely walk to the Danube. I would recommend this hogtel
Gracious staff, great location near subway, excellent breakfast buffet, onfortabke room. Very glad we stayed there! The hotel design is very intriguing and a work of art in itself. The restaurant served a varied menu and we enjoyed all of our choices.
Nice building, good location but some staff are not professional and didnt want to help, i.e. to explain how and from where we can get a bus to go to the airport. Or when you want to have lunch at the bar, the woman told us that the restaurant was closed, as if she didnt want to serve us lunch.
Me and my husband stayed here for 4 nights the room was very clean with plenty of room for both of us. The staff are all very friendly and helpful when asked how best to use the nearby public transport. I will be recommending this hotel to all my friends that want to visit Budapest.
So no, it is not situated on the Danube, but right in the city centre. And if you can't afford to stay in Boscolo (which houses the infamous New York Cafe) this is the place to try. It is approximately 1.5km from everything, and a few footsteps away from the Jewish quarter with its Ruin Pubs.
