I wish to thank all staff of Hotel Charles for the kindness they showed us during our visit in Budapest in October. They were excellent in everthing . Everthing was OK, breakfast, transport to city center, changing money, room cleaness. I recommend it to all . Thanks
A very good Budget Hotel in Budapest. Clean, spacious room, helpful staff, they even help you change to HUF at a very good rate. Breakfast is really good and tasty. Rooms also have a small Kitchenette. Hotel also has Air Conditioning which is a + Walking distance to all main attractions. Easily accessible as the bus stop is right outside the hotel.
My family stayed in Charles hotel 3 days in October. I have nothing but positive impressions to share. Clean, spacious room, plentiful breakfast, helpful staff, secured parking, good sleeping quality although our room was in the first floor facing main road. Walking distance to all main attractions (15 minutes to Buda castle, 40 minutes to Parliament, 10 minutes to Elizabeth bridge...). If you preffer public transfer though, the bus stop is right outside the hotel. If I ever come back to this beautiful city, I’ll definitely choose Charles hotel again.
This hotel was ideally situated near to the citadel and main attractions. The city centre was only a 20 min walk. Hotel Charles was well staffed and everyone was very helpful. The accompanying restaurant eas very nice and the food was delicious. Would recommend to anyone.
When I booked the room I asked for "a room facing the courtyard", because the traffic is heavy and noisy to the street. So we got what we wanted and it was so quiet and nice. The beds was very comfortable and everything was clean. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Yummy!! We also eat at the restaurant two nights and the food was very good. So I must say it is really good value for the money. And I would like to stay at Hotel Charles the next time also!
My wife and I were attending an event in the Budapest congress center and this hotel was recommended to us as a more affordable alternative to the Novotel that is adjacent to the Center. Location is not central, it is located on the Buda side, between the Gellert hill and Castle hill. It is only 5-10 minutes walk to the Congress center. Several buses can take you to the city center or if the weather is nice and you are inclined to walk, in 20-25 minutes you can reach the Elisabeth bridge and via it the city center, The biggest problem with the location - and the biggest problem of the hotel is that it is on a very busy and very noisy thoroughfare. You must sleep with closed windows and even then some noise can be heard. Street noise aside, the hotel is very good and great value. Of course, it is a 3 star hotel, so it is not luxurious. We were in a "deluxe studio" - very spacious room with a small kitchenette in the corner, well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Not too much choices, but everything was of good quality. The restaurant also works for lunch and dinner, but our programme didn't allow us to try it. On the last day we had to leave for the airport early, before breakfast time and they prepared for us good breakfast packages - something that you don't see frequently. Staff was especially friendly and helpful. All things considered, if some street noise will not disturb your sleep, this hotel is a very good choice in its category.
Stayed here recently for four nights. The staff is friendly. The room was large with a tiny kitchen. Honestly it is two burners with a small sink and a few pots and pans. There is a small fridge. The hotel fronts a very busy street. I was facing a side street but it was very loud so I couldn’t sleep with the windows open. Closed it was enough to keep the noise out but if you are traveling during a warmer month you might keep that in mind. I read elsewhere they charge to use the air conditioning but it was cooler when I was there so it was not an issue. The bed was a double, two singles pushed together. I sort of slid in the middle of one side but I slept well enough with no pain upon waking. The bathroom was roomy and adequate. The only thing that someone might have concern with is if they have mobility issues or are elderly. The bathtub in my room was very high and there isn’t a rail or anything to grab onto. This wasn’t a problem for me but I can see it being a problem for someone weak or elderly. You have to be able to raise your leg very high to get in and out. I’m not sure if they have rooms with walk in showers or not. Breakfast was included and I ate there every morning. They serve a nice spread. Salad, yogurt, rolls, croissants, toast, juice, coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon etc. There should be enough to satisfy most people. Met the owner on the way to my room. Seems like a really nice guy. This is a budget hotel but it is clean and comfortable. It’s on the Buda side and in a working class neighborhood. There is a bus stop with multiple lines across the street and you can be in the heart of Pest in about 7 minutes. For the return bus it drops you right at the hotel’s front door. This was a plus after walking around for ten plus hours.
Large rooms, very comfortable and well appointed Hotel Charles is a little away from city centre but has a bus stop right in front with buses going to the key locations in the city. Easy getting around! The staff are attentive and the food in the restaurant downstairs is excellent. Overall super stay in the beautiful city of Budapest.
The hotel is located 5 min ride from city center, good and clean rooms, friendly staff snd good restsurant. The bearkfast is great and service is good. A little noisy area but very centel and good location. Buses come eveey 2 min
Hotel Charles is extremely good value. The room we had was large, comfortable and very clean (the daily standard of cleaning was very high indeed). The room had a powerful shower, bath, and a small kitchen for preparing simple meals (useful if you are travelling on a budget) and a reasonably priced mini bar. The staff were helpful, readily available 24 hours a day, and impressively multi-lingual. There were several thoughtful little services, such as selling stamps, or umbrellas free to borrow from reception - I understand that they also provided internet sticks to allow access to Netflix etc and the ability to book day trips and bus tickets, although we didn't use these personally. Breakfast was plentiful and I was able to get vegetarian options - very important in Budapest which is not always very veggie friendly. The hotel is on the Buda side of the river, a little out of the main tourist centre - but the area is safe and reasonably pleasant with a few small bars, shops and cafes nearby. It is possible to walk to the Castle District easily within 20 minutes or so, and to Gellert Hill and the spa hotel within less than half an hour. You can either walk a little further or catch a bus into Pest for the other sights. I would be more inclined to recommend this hotel to couples like us on sightseeing trips, than groups of young people on a party weekend.
