We decided to visit Bruges after another trip fell through, so after a quick search on the web I found Hotel Olympia. The hotel seemed to meet our needs so I went ahead and booked to stay overnight on a Friday. Finding a parking space was the first challenge, we parked at the roadside and immediately a friendly local told us we needed a parking disc or we'd get a 30 Euro ticket. There were three nearby car parks that offered free parking, but the locals seemed to have found every space in them, not that I could blame them. Eventually we found a space a couple of roads away that a postal delivery worker told me was free and didn't need a disc. We entered the hotel at 11:30am to make enquiries and the very friendly receptionist said that our room was already available if we wanted to check in ahead of our 2:30pm time. She spoke English like a native, plus French, German and, of course, Flemish. The room was basic but perfectly comfortable, with easily adjustable radiators in the bedroom and bathroom, so setting a comfortable temperature was easy to do. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We particularly liked the fact that the corridor lights were on a timer switch, meaning that they weren't causing light pollution all night into the room under the door like most other hotels, so we slept like babies. If I were to suggest improvements, I would suggest he provision of tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the provision of bigger towels, as my Susan likes to dry herself on a towel the size of a small African country rather than a small bath towel. Consequently she used both towels after her steaming hot bath and left me to dry myself on a hand towel! The location was perfect as it was in a quiet neighbourhood but only 15 minutes' gentle stroll from the city centre. The breakfast was upstairs in a comfortable and quiet dining room. There was a continental buffet available with plenty of choice and the great quality food was replenished regularly by attentive staff. The room reminded me of Travelodge hotels in the UK ten years ago, but it was great value for money at only £68 including breakfast and I would definitely recommend it for a couple looking to explore Bruges on a budget, we sill stay there again.
We had a very nice time here . Budget friendly hotel 5 min walk from train station( make sure you exit from the back exit/entrance of the station ). 15 min walk to the center . Nice residential area if you walk to the street behind you will find a local sport bar, very cheap and good beer, Gino the owner of the bar is pretty funny. Decent size bathroom with a soaking tub. Hotel is old but isn't it Bruges all about ? A charming medieval city . As long as I got my hot bath and comfortable bed I am a happy camper .
Good value for money. Somewhat cheaper because its outside the city centre. However only 15 minutes walking to the city centre. Staff was very friendly. Room not too big, but large bed. Very satisfied with that. Bathroom with shower and bath.. also very good
The hotel was clean but getting ready for an upgrade. The breakfast was good but a little expensive at 12 euro per person. It is in a good location with public transport to the town running past. If you are fit you can walk it.
Sorry i have not a photo to show as they are on my hard drive This hotel is about a 5min walk to bruges station,if you wish a peaceful place to stay away from the hussle and bussle of city life than this is the place for you and at a reasonable price. The rooms are large and hosts a large double bed and very comfortable, the room is clean tidy and has a tv the room has an ensuite and carpeted.the staff are very polite and the receptionist is and was very pleasent and helpful i could not fault her there is a dining room and a small coffee lounge for a quiet cup of coffee if needed.the main city square is a must to visit with its ancient roads and cobbled paths and a christmas market well worth the visit all in all the olympia hotel is a must and i would reccomend this hotel to everyone
Perfect for a group of friends who want somewhere warm, quiet and comfortable, if not luxurious, to stay. Rooms are basic but practical and have their own radiator controls so I was toasty warm the whole time. Plenty of hot water and powerful shower. Plenty of luggage / hanging space. Only downside is distance from centre but taxi is cheap enough or a pleasant 25 minute walk. Reception very helpful. Would stay again.
Good little place, clean and tidy and very cheap. It is about 15mins walk from the station but 30min from the centre. Slightly dissapointing is the bar and reception close at 11pm and you use a code to enter. No idea on breakfast - chap at check in told us it would be difficult for our group!!
Looking for an economic visit to the Christmas market and chanced upon the Olympia. A good find, family run with assistance from a very knowledgeable and helpful Peter. Perfect location in a quiet neighbourhood with a short walk into Bruges centre, good continental breakfast and a quiet little bar area for a nightcap.
Location : The hotel is within 15min walking distance from the Brugge rail station. The Brugge city centre is walkable in 20mins. Couldnt find a supermarket around it, but thats expected in Brugge. The hotel : Entrance to the hotel is missing a ramp, though its just a matter of a couple of stairs. The interiors of the hotel is impressive, though the floors being made out of wood is understood when someone upstairs thomps on it. Its not a discomfort at all, though one can feel it. Interiors of the room we reserved was nice was it was small. The toilet was especially small for any person of decent height. The room itself was nice. The bed was comfortable, with provisions of extra bedding items available from the hotel. The breakfast wraps up at 10AM, so plan accordingly. A special note about the hotel administration : We were on our anniversary trip, and the hotel authorities were kind enough to arrange nice chocolates, a nice decor of the bed, on special previous request. Thanks to Aiyesha and Valerie for this.
Had a 3 night stay here over the new year holidays, hotel is based in a quiet residential area about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Brugges, Hotel was very pleasant Reception staff very friendly and helpful, The rooms are nice, carpeted very ideal, only once during the night I was cold as the radiators wasn't on, but kicked in the morning, Brugges itself it one of the best city breaks I have been to after just returning from Prague, will defiantly return and even stay here again
