This little beauty is tucked away in a very strategic location. You are steps from the high end shopping of the "golden triangle", 5 minutes from the more boisterous bustling Rue St. Catherine and within easy access of some very fine restaurants. All this in a funky old building modernized as best you can do and yet keep its innate charm. Also, one of the best breakfasts we have had on our many visits to France. However, what really makes this place stand out is the staff - professional and extremely friendly to a person. One little complaint - our room had a lovely round tub in the middle which was great but a little step up would have helped negotiating getting in and out.
We were only here for 2 nights but it was the perfect little getaway after a week in Paris. We took the high speed train down and loved every minute in quaint Bordeaux. Niels, Angele and Alexis at the front desk were very helpful and offered excellent restaurant suggestions and service. The room (we did not receive an upgrade) was small but very well appointed with a coffee maker, free mini-bar, free cellphone with wifi and Hermes bath products. The location is perfect, just off the main pedestrian area. We enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting and will definitely stay here again on our returns trips, highly recommend it!
Stayed her recently for a wine tour trip so we spent very little time at the hotel. Pluses are the location and the friendly service in French and English. The rooms however are small and need some updating. The TVs do not function well with a random selection of channels across 100s of stations, more importantly our aircon didn't work and so the room was very stuffy - we slept (not so well) with the window open resulting in a few mosquitoes visiting us. The lift also is more like a trolley, on leaving we were trying to summon it whilst downstairs a Chinese couple were trying the same thing resulting a game of push me pull you until we gave up and carried everything downstairs. Overall the place is fine and service is good but a bit expensive for what you get.
Location: The hotel is located right in the centre of Bordeaux. It is just a few minutes walk to restaurants and bars and 10 minutes to the main shopping area. We drove from Toulouse and once off the freeway and into the medieval streets of Bordeaux it is easy to get lost. We took numerous wrong turns even with GPS before we found the hotel. It didnt help that there was a food and wine festival on as well. Hotel: We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. After the long drive from Toulouse and the stress of finding the hotel we then had to deal with parking. There is no parking onsite. We had to pull up outside the hotel in a no parking zone with hazards flashing. Quickly unload our luggage and drive round the corner to the public car park. I would have expected a hotel of this quality to park the car for us, but no. We booked a Deluxe room with hot tub. What the hotel website doesn't say is the photo of the hot tub room is probably not the one you will get. There are rooms with indoor and outdoor hot tubs but they are all classed as deluxe hot tub. I requested an outdoor hot tub room on a high floor prior to arrival. When we arrived we were shown to the room. Walked through the courtyard where everyone was having dinner and first door was our room. Immediately we knew this wasn't good as it was so close to the dining area and on the ground floor. The room was a good size, but very dark as it was ground floor in the internal courtyard area. The bathroom had a terrible fish smell most likely from the proximity to the kitchen. There was a private tiny courtyard where the hot tub was. The courtyard was fenced by a 3m fence but right on the other side was the outdoor dining area. We didn't even want to use the hot tub, not very romantic when you have to listen to other guests chatting over dinner 2 metres away. We asked at the front desk to have a look at another room and were asked to come back tomorrow. Tomorrow arrived and we were shown a deluxe hot tub room on the 1st floor in the old part of the hotel. The room was bit smaller but so much better. Much, much lighter and the outdoor area was an elevated deck with 3 times the space of the previous room. The hot tub was in the corner with an canopy for some shade and it had a nice table and bench area to sit on. This is the room that the photos are from on the website. We had a great time in this room, sitting in the hot tub under the stars or enjoying and afternoon wine on the deck or in the tub. The only downside to the rooms is the noise from the cleaners early in the morning. They clatter around the old building with vacuums and trolleys. As its all old stone the place echoes and the hotel room door rattles whenever some else opens a door. Bars and Restaurants: There is a bar and restaurant on the reception level. We didnt eat here as we were in the heart of Bordeaux and wanted to explore the local restaurants which are an easy walk to. The restaurant seemed popular with the locals though. We did enjoy a wine or two here when on the way to dinner or waiting for our tour to pick us up. Facilities: The hotel has no other facilities. As its a city hotel there is no room for a pool or a gym. For places like this it would be good if they gave you a guest pass to a local gym to use during your stay. Verdict: Once the room issues were dealt with this was a nice hotel to stay at in Bordeaux. Unfortunately like most hotel websites they only show you the best photos of the best rooms and not all rooms are equal. If hotels were honest with photos and room descriptions it would lead to much happier guests. At 350 euros a night its not cheap.
This is a charming little hotel with a super location in the beautiful old city of Bordeaux. Our room was clean, quiet, comfortable and attractively decorated. The breakfast was excellent with delicious "squeeze yourself orange juice", fresh fruit, a delightful buffet of breads, cheeses, and cold meat, and freshly made crepes delivered to our table. Additional options were available later in the day for wine tasting and tempting foods. The Concierge was most helpful with great ideas of where to eat and things to do.What was outstanding about this hotel was the staff and its concept of hospitality and service. Of particular note were Neils and Selim from the front desk. After we left the Boutique Hotel we rented a car to travel around the area and then returned to Bordeaux to take the TGV to Lille. My nightmare began when I was on the platform at the station dealing with instructions from a conductor when the doors of the coach suddenly closed and the train pulled out with my husband, carry on with laptop, and purse with my money, credit cards, phone, and all ID including passport all on the train. I had absolutely nothing and was told by the railway that it was not their problem. My only idea was to return to the Boutique Hotel to see if they could help and help they did! I shall never forget the kindness and care of Neils and Selim at the Front Desk as they welcomed me back, heard my story and helped me out. I only hope I can return one day but next time might fly!
We booked a bit late for high season and were only able to get a small room ("Double Room Elegance") and boy was it small. We are used to smallish french hotel rooms but we thought these accommodations were just way too small for the high price we paid. The shower/sink was open to the room and one couldn't really have two people doing anything at the same time. The room did however have everything one could need. The elevator is only used if needed by asking the front desk person to accompany you. Fortunately we were on the first floor - up just one flight. This hotel was a bit too funky for us...
This small, truly boutique hotel has only 25 rooms but has outstanding service. A nice wine bar and restaurant with very nice rooms made our stay very nice. The one suggestion if you are looking for a taxi to get to a cruise or the airport is to either arrange in advance or use Uber.
The staff is very nice, very helpful, but that s about it...rooms are ok but nothin waw...no balcony, noisy air conditioning...the elevator is kind of weird...you have to keep pushing the button to get to your floor and if you let go, you get stock!!!! The breakfast is basic! Very good location!
Le Boutique has it all going for it. Good staff, good location, based in a beautiful building with a nice courtyard that serves wine and tapas. It's a very likeable hotel. Two things prevent it (for me) being a 5 review. First, our room (Ch Soutard) was very small, although it was comfortable and has almost everything you need. They'd squeezed a lot into a small space. And secondly, it's expensive. Maybe all hotels in Bordeaux are, but whilst we liked this hotel a lot it cannot be described as good value for money.
Outstanding staff and service. Breakfast was great. Hotel is within walking distance of most Bordeaux sites. The Parking garage was a bit tight but is located about 100 feet from the hotel front door. Bordeaux has many one way streets so driving to the hotel presents a few challenges. Use a good GPS.
