No TVs in certain rooms. Thin linens. Couldn’t park in the circle drive to even unload our car. My partner tried and someone appeared from the dark and asked if she read the sign? We were so tired we couldn’t even think. The other spots were full near the entrance so finding a spot was difficult. It was very dark and we finally saw someone backing out of a space nearby and grabbed it. Unloaded our things and trudged back to the entrance. Just ridiculous.
Great hospitality. Breakfast was “okay.” The same kind of food you’d see at a Holiday Inn. Rooms are small, beds are uncomfortable and noisy.
We had a great time. They gave many amenities like lawn games, tennis courts, and a beautiful view of the water. My kids especially loved the old time bowling alley and game room. Friendly staff, great restaurant, and lovely breakfast included. We would definitely go back again!
building is old, lacks sufficient insulation, so resting peacefully is on others' schedule. food is excellent, first rate. we won't visit it again.
I did answer a survey from Newagen. I was unhappy with the room. No TV, they say that it was on the Orbitz info, but I printed it out and couldn't find that. Also, I finally did see it from the welcoming email from Newagen, but it said there was tv in two places, which meant nothing to me. My group gave us the names of the hotels to book, so I never went on their web site and even if I did, I still wouldn't have understood that there was no TV in the room I booked. They had the a/c blasting when I arrived (which is placed in the ceiling over the bed). Couldn't operate the controls, at the desk they were rude about the tv and blamed Orbitz for my not knowing. They also said that since I was from Atlanta they thought that I would want the a/c on, but it was 64 degrees outside - that's cold to me after 95 degrees in Atlanta! The bathroom is tiny - and yes, I was correct to say built in the 1940's. Newagen was quick to correct me that the hotel was built in 1943. Think that means I was correct? You have to think about how you take a shower. Only have a sink, no counter space. Water went off several times and power went out. One of the outlets in the bath kept going on and off. The room was painted a medium blue and with only two small lamps I couldn't see inside my suitcase. Moved it to under the window to help see. I could hear rooms next door. Would not recommend this hotel if you want modern conveniences. The food was excellent! The location is away from town.
Wonderful location, great views of the water in multiple directions. Incredible breakfasts included in the sunny dining room (they identify gluten free options too). Lots to do -- with the pool, boats available to use in the cove, and outdoor games -- especially when a respite from the bustle of Boothbay Harbor is desired! Great places available to sit and read a book too -- inside or outside with a variety of views available! Staff was helpful and guests were very friendly to one another. Air conditioning worked very well (it was warm and very muggy when we were there). We certainly will return!
The inn was so lovely and cozy. We fell in love with common area where you could sit and chat with other guests or just enjoy the fire and read a book or paper. The grounds were spacious with beautiful views of the bay, Our dining experience - atmosphere, waiter, entertainment and food - was outstanding and the Rose wine was delicious. I suggested to my daughter that it was a lovely venue for a destination wedding!

The biggest challenge of our 1940's era building is definitely the insulation and we are continually working on a solution (it's not as easy as you'd think!). We'd love to offer you an upgrade to our Little Inn building which is newer and has the sound deadening that you expect.

Thank you, Sandy! Seeing guests interact and make new friendships is my favorite thing....I'm so glad you identified that. Please come back and see us again!

I'm so sorry for the miscommunication. We tell all of our guests that they can unload their bags before parking. It's true that the rooms in the historic part of our property do not have televisions, though we do have free wifi throughout the property. Our newer Little Inn building and all of our cottages do have TVs.
