We were very disappointed with the Spruce Point Inn. It looks gorgeous online and while the location is absolutely beautiful, the hotel and it's amenities are in desperate need of updates. The rooms while clean and spacious are dreary and dated. I think the pullout couches in our room were at least 20 yrs old. I didn't want to sit on them let alone let our kids sleep on them. The furniture and landscaping in the pool areas were lacking, dated and uncomfortable. Overall, we felt like we this was a step up from camping and for a price point of $400 a night, we had much higher expectations. We had just spent 4 nights in at the Bar Harbor Inn prior to coming to Spruce Point Inn and I wish we would have stayed there longer and not bothered staying at this hotel at all. Spruce Point Inn should visit the Bar Harbor Inn (same price point per night and included free breakfast) and see what a beautiful hotel with exceptional service is all about.
Very beautiful spot. You pay big money for the views, but for us it was worth it. Restaurant crazy expensive and limited choices. Food was above average. Comfy bed, great shower and tub. Stayed at the balsam lodge. Staff incredibly friendly and accommodating. There is a complementary boat shuttle that takes you to downtown Boothbay Harbor but we didn’t stay long enough to use it.

Beautiful resort right on the harbor of Boothbay. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing view. Unfortunately front desk staff were not friendly or helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed the great grounds!
went for a weekend with my sisters. We used the spa, restaurant, recreational facilities, and went for a hike. The resort is full service for adults and children. I recommend it for families with small children also. The local town is quaint and the restaurants there are good also.
Excellent buffet breakfast worth the price. Townhouse is an amazing way to enjoy Maine living, i would highly recommend if you can afford it. Hotel pricey but the scenic setting and friendly staff as well as the relaxing atmosphere make the experience enjoyable. Manager was really helpful, the initial room had some issues and he fixed the situation swiftly and gracefully. Excellent experience overall.
What’s not to love about staying in a cottage by the sea? Especially one facing Boothbay Harbor in Maine? Designed with an old lodge look with a mix of beachy and nautical decor, Spruce Point exudes luxury but in a comfortable, welcoming setting that feels like home. The casual restaurant offered a dinner selection that appeals to most tastes. A bountiful buffet gets your day started. Wait staff couldn’t be more accommodating. The decor of individual rooms could use a bit of updating, but the comfy decor seems to fit the “way it was” theme that begins with a history in pictures on the walls of the main building. Spruce Point is a place to return to.
We spent only a night in coming from a family wedding in the Boston area. We had not been in Maine for the two previous summers and wanted to enjoy it however briefly even in early fall. We had never stayed at Spruce Point before but liked the location and wanted to be near a harbor area where we could easily take a trip and show someone who was with us who'd never previously been to New England. In retrospect, we could have made different arrangements and stayed at the inn an additional night. How we regret we didn't. We then could have utilized the inn's other amenities and given ourselves a less rushed stay. But the all too brief time there was our own doing. We were able on our one night to buy lobster and steamers from a close by market on a wharf and enjoy our meal in the comfort of our room due to having fully equipped kitchen facilities. We would love to return for a longer stay in the summer and are thankful we had this short introductory exposure. We'd say to anyone you should go and relish this lovely place. We only hope those who live on the Maine coast appreciate just how fortunate they are.
