First I don't get the reviews that the staff was not helpful or friendly. I went into the lobby several times and all of the staff that I met was very helpful and tried their best to help me with any and all requests. Also were very friendly. The resort is in a very good location. We had a two bedroom condo 4 plex that had no one above us or below us.it had a loft and was a good size. The kitchen had been updated but the rest of the condo was starting to show its age. The jacuzzi was very large but did't work that well.the biggest complaint I had was the crappy wifi. You couldn't do hardly anything at peak times especially at night.The overall layout of the resort was very good. The only other con was that the sauna near the indoor pool was not working.
This resort has beautiful two bedroom condos. (We have never stayed in a one bedroom condo.) There are tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub to enjoy in the mountains of North Carolina. Beautiful views! There is a stocked pond for fishing or for using paddle boats. Horseback riding and Banner Elk restaurants are near the resort.
Good value for the money, very clean, comfortable bed, nice kitchen, outside of the buildings looks old and also same on the inside. We stayed in bottom unit and I'm guessing that children were running and people above us as they were walking and doing whatever, were making our ceiling shake. Not good WI-FI be prepared to not to have any.
We had a good time because the area is very beautiful and convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway and some great hiking and waterfalls, but I cannot recommend this resort. The front desk staff was not what we are accustomed to and we didn't go into the lobby again until check out. When my husband asked about ideas for restaurants and hiking places, the desk clerk answered: "Information is on the wall". She would not give us any other information. My husband tried asking several times, but she wasn't interested in telling us anything. She was not very friendly nor helpful. The room was pretty but the upgrades rather cheaply done. The couch had been damaged but not replaced or repaired, cobwebs and bugs in the corner by the front door, and there was mildew in the bathroom. The bed sheets were too small and kept coming off the bed (though the mattress was actually quite comfortable). Then one evening, I opened the refrigerator and everything on two of the shelves fell out onto the floor! I discovered that the two side shelves were being held up by some type of clear tape that looked like medical tape! Can you believe it! I called the front desk and asked them to come and repair the refrigerator. That's what I meant by cheaply done, lacking attention to important details. I didn't complain to the front desk about everything because I didn't want to waste any more time with the small things. Is it a classy place that wouldn't notice tape holding the refrigerator together? We also had an unwelcome visitor of a mouse! I opened the pantry door and it ran past me on our 5th day there! At first I thought I had imagined it because it happened so fast, but the next day my son in law found mouse droppings in the pantry and one of our food packages had been "broken into" by the mouse. Anyway, that time it was Friday, and we told the front desk about, and they did offer to move us. But at that point, we didn't want to pack up everything. We didn't see the actual mouse again, but we saw its droppings. When we called and demanded that they come and clean the kitchen, the maid cleaned the kitchen but didn't clean the pantry where the droppings were! Unbelievable! Very inefficient and poor follow up in my opinion. I let the front desk know, but it was too late to fix so we left with the droppings still in the pantry. Very unpleasant to deal with. And there is no good sound proofing. We are thankful that no one was staying above us until our next to last day as the children ran back and forth above us in the evening and early morning. For these reasons, I'm going to rate it a 2 or 3 out of 5 despite the great location. I would not go there again. I hope the staff there reads this and learns something about customer service and attention to detail. These are both very important if you want to have a return traveler.
We first visited Blue Ridge Village exactly three years ago (May 2014) - we have old family friends that have retired to Banner Elk, NC and we very much like the area and visiting with them there. We booked into Blue Ridge Village again after our last positive experience, and were just as pleased this time around. We had a larger unit this time - a two bedroom, multi-level which suited our needs very well. Blue Ridge is well-located to many wonderful places to visit and enjoy. A real plus is that it is probably the only timeshare resort that we have visited that does not pressure guests to attend sales pitches. We own two as it it and have no plans to buy any more, yet we are often pressured to do so which spoils our stay. I don't know how old the units are at Blue Ridge. They seem well-maintained for the most part, with only minor indications of some age. Furnishings are quite adequate. The resort does provide free wi-fi, which is a rarity these days, but service is somewhat slow and spotty. There were times that it seemed to be either off or just very heavily loaded. I have come to not expect free wi-fi most of the time, and will gladly pay for service if it is of good quality. I am hoping that Blue Ridge will look at improving their service, even if it might mean a reasonable charge for use. The only other issue that we have in the Banner Elk area is that there are no pet-friendly resorts in the vicinity. As we retired, we travel more often together and enjoy taking our small Cairn Terrier with us, and are finding that the number of pet-friendly resorts is on the increase. Sadly, we are still unable to do so at this location.
Beautiful views & cozy Clean Condo, inside pool & other nice activities...Spacious 2 bedroom condo, full kitchen, 2 baths & balcony..& sofa couch,.beautiful view of the lake and well kept property...Beds are very comfortable, we were all happily pleased. Absolutely awesome facility and room. Full kitchen with washer and dryer even in a one bedroom. Lots to due without leaving resort. Very relaxing. Wireless access wasn't great beyond main building but they were in the process of upgrading.
Our 1 bedroom apartment was fully appointed with anything we could have needed. The unit was clean and comfortable. Only drawback was that we were on the ground floor with no porch to sit and take in the view. Highly recommend!
This entire resort is completely handicapped inaccessible. The clubhouse and pool has steps to get to in including the bathrooms. There are steps to enjoy the lake, watch family play tennis, putt putt, fitness room and even get to the children's playground. There are a few condos that have a ramp entrance but there are no hand rails in the bathrooms.
Our family group of 10 enjoyed our stay at the Blue Ridge Village in Banner Elk, NC. We settled comfortably into our two 2 Bedroom condos. Each condo was large and comfortable. The WiFi was a little sketchy, but this was a vacation and internet, though available, was not highly important (actually, I am writing this review while in the condo). The kids really enjoyed the indoor pool and the small carpet golf. We could have used the facilities more if the weather had cooperated.
