Easy to find, parking nearby. Breakfast was very nice.
The staff were rude except for one person. The breakfast was disappointing. There was only one set of towels for a double room. Cheap.
This was a lovely place to stay in Bologna and the staff is PHENOMENAL!
Our double room was situated where the noise from the road could be heard. A a result, it was difficult to sleep. The bathroom was extremely small. If you were a large person, it would be quite difficult to even turn around in the very tiny shower. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We arrived late in the evening and were given an excellent recommendation for a restaurant nearby. The hotel was within walking distance of the train station and all the main attractions in Bologna.
The room and bedding was nice. The doors are PAPERTHIN so be aware. The decor is updated and cool.
We were in Bologna for a couple of days. Hotel Metropolitan is conveniently located close to the center of town, yet very quiet in a small street off one of the main streets. Ideal for exploring Bologna by foot. Breakfast is excellent, staff are very friendly, Internet access is free (provided you leave a copy of your passport) and worked great. Our room was a little bit outdated in terms of decoration, but we saw other rooms that looked a lot nicer. Overall we definitely recommend this hotel!
Put is in their apartments, said they were bigger. We found them a bit TOO modern and cheap looking, also next to some longer term stay with children (some crying at inconvenient times). Would recommend staying in the Hotel which is just fine. Also, skip the breakfast ... not really worth it.
Staffs were always very helpful, and all spoke English. The location of the hotel was very convenient. It was a easy 10 minute walk north from the Central Train Station/Bus Depot, or 10 minutes walk south to Magiorre Square for the all the sights, or 10 minutes walk east to the University of Bologna and many of the bars/pubs. The breakfast was simple (croissant/bread/cereal/cold cuts/pate/cheese/hard boiled egg/fruits/cakes) and the presentation was wonderfully stylish! The shower is a bit snug, and the water temperature changes when the toilets are flushed. The room is small, but didn't matter since I was in the city for a meeting and was never there except to sleep. The hotel has no WiFi, but I managed to tap into a neighbor's unsecured WiFi signal during my stay. The lobby has a computer with internet access for 5 euros per hours (The first 15 minutes were free).
We stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan in Bologna for 4 nights. We decided to go to Bologna for its particularly good central location for traveling around Northern Italy, and for its reputation of excellent Italian cuisine. Both of these factors proved to be true during our stay, and we had a very wonderful trip. The Hotel Metropolitan provided us with an excellent location that made traveling around Bologna easy. The hotel was right off the main street Via Dell'Indipendenza (the main shopping street). By turning right on this street, we were just a short 5-7 minute walk to the Piazza Maggiore, and by turning left on this street we were about the same distance from the train station. The close proximity to the train station was very pleasant, as we made a day trip to Milan and a day trip to Parma. All of the main attractions in Bologna were easily accessible from the Hotel Metropolitan, all just a short walk away. We were not only very impressed with the location of the hotel, but we were also very impressed with the cleanliness. The maid was always very friendly and she did a very nice job cleaning our room. She really went the extra mile to organize our belongings for us, and to make everything comfortable. We were expecting a small room when we arrived, most likely with no air conditioner, as we'd heard many things about Italian hotels not having air conditioning. Our room was smaller than American standards, but fair sized for a European hotel, and our room did turn out to have air conditioning. The beds and the cool air in the room made our stay very comfortable, and the cleanliness made it that much more enjoyable. The hotel also had an excellent continental breakfast buffet which was included with our room. They served an array of very traditional italian pastries, cheeses, cereals, yogurts, and patés, cappuccinos and juices, and also very elegant and artistic fruit assortments. The only thing that could have potentially made our stay a little easier was if the staff spoke English. There was only one worker that spoke English at the hotel, and as we are not good Italian speakers, that made it a little difficult, but we got used to it quite quickly, as English speakers were few and far between in Bologna, Milan, and Parma. Our only complaint with the hotel the entire time was that one of the managers was a little rude and frustrated with our speaking English to him. We had asked him about using the internet (there is one computer in the lobby with internet free for the first 15 minutes, and 6 euros per hour of use after that. It wasn't possible to get internet in our room.) When he was not understanding our question, he became rather irritable and unfriendly. However, all of the other staff members were very helpful and extremely kind, despite the language gap. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and I would recommend it to friends.
